I agree. I know the Steelers don't pay high for quality name coordinators, which seems stupid for the millions they have invested in the offense. That's like having a Firestone mechanic work on your Ferrari (no insult to Firestone mechanics, but a Ferrari is a Ferrari) or putting crappy tires on your Ferrari. Maybe with the new GM, who seems willing to shake things up, will convince Tomlin to make a change. Only the pathetic Bears have a worse offense than the Steelers.

If the Steelers get the run game going Kenny will kill it he has to throw the ball all game and great defenses like San Fran and Cleveland any qb will struggle with that. Kenny can’t get the run game going..

I think Pickett is overthinking it these last 2 games. End of last season he was playing on instincts and feel, now it seems like he’s waiting to make decisions and then trying to fire the ball into tiny windows, like Orlovsky mentioned with the bullet throws.
I completely agree. Pickett hasn't played well. I also think the vanilla scheme is easy to read and when the defense essentially knows everything you're doing, it's easier to disguise packages and confuse the QB. If you listen to any QB analysis guys who are rating these young QBs, or defensive coordinators and players, they all talk about how this offense is so simple and basic it's your standards concepts on essentially a highschool level.
Yep. You guys are both right. Kenny has regressed. Probably not permanent. And the offense affords us no advantage. The defense is not stressed out with our plays or blocking schemes.
I think he is wrong about Najee getting a first down, I think that play was dead before it started, it was a completely horrible call. I am still undecided on Kenny, I want to see him get some fair chances at playing with good calls with a back up cast. Not with a run game under 100 and a pass game which is heavily dependent on running away from defenders and throwing off the back foot. Not every QB is going to be Mahomes.
The all 22 view shows the play. There was 0% chance Najee gets a first there. Kenny even made the right read to keep. DE crashed inside so the QB should keep in read option, problem was Steelers didn't account for the LB looping the edge which is dumb because it was an obvious run situation..
No, its true if he hands it off its a first down. Also, Kenny ran right into the pressure when all he had to do was run behind his block. I wouldnt have called it because idk if they work on read option much but the play was there and Kenny didnt make it.

I believe Kenny now having issues he didn't have before is because he, and the rest of the offense know they're going into each game with a bad hand (Canada's offensive play calling) and feel they have to force any success the offense can have on the field. If you sit down at poker table and you get a bad hand dealt to you every time, and you know that isn't going to change, well you either fold, lose, or you have to bluff your way to a win. Imagine stepping on to an NFL field every week knowing you have a losing hand calling the offense. What are you going to do? What choice do you really have?
100% agree. The thing is that once we start playing against the bad defenses, we might go on a run and win some games (barely). Fans will get excited again and Kenny’s grace period will be extended.

My thing is you can watch every snap of offense under Matt Canada's scheme since he's been to Pittsburgh with 4 diff QBs and it all looks identical. And that's saying Trubisky Pickett Rudolph and even HOFer Ben Rothlisberger all make his system run poorly and look terribly bad in terms creativity. I honestly think Canada either just didn't have enough experience in terms of NFL offenses or really believes that division 2 watered down spread system will work in the NFL. You aren't gonna fool defenses in the league very often or for very long with alota the stuff he runs

Fellas. Kenny Pickett is frustrated at the play calling from Canada. It is showing in his performance. He would be much better playing to his skill set, instead of trying to compete with Canada's play calling averages. Canada's plays are too predictive for other defenses. I believe that Big Ben would be an excellent choice to call the plays for Kenny and Steeler's Nation. We will continue to chant "Fire Canada." We must move on from him. Canada is calling plays like he is afraid to go down field. We only establish the run game after establishing the passing game, in my opinion.
Exactly how I feel. I want to blame Canada, but Kenny's performance stops me. I got to add the route scheme on the 3d & 3 dump to Warren that sprung him for 30 yards was a thing of beauty. I seen a handful of schemed plays that are elite, just no where near enough, and too many standard is the standard 5 yard sit routes.
Sounds kinda weird. But they gotta speed Pickett up so the game slows down. From the time the ball is snapped he drops back and gets the ball. They need to speed that up. So he can have a extra second to scan the field give WRs a extra second to run the route. Then when he throws not put his whole body in it. Don't know who the QB coach is.
Looking at Kenny pickets eyes, he’s not all there. Somethings wrong in his head. He might have truly suffered a concussion and he’s trying to play it off that it was not. You can see it in his eyes up close hopefully by next Sunday he is fully recovered from whatever is happening, mental or we’re going to see the same thing.
Matt Canada has to go! Kenny well, if he doesn't play well we should draft his replacement next year, but first, give him a decent offensive coordinator then determine whether or not he has what it takes, but Matt Canada should have left long time ago!

We had basically the same offense since Haley.. our O line has gotten progressively worse since Munch left for Denver. Our Steelers are so dysfunctional even the plane doesnt work.
Dan Orlovsky used to play for us. I think I respect his opinion. I hear what he's saying about Carolina. Ive looked at their coaching staff. They have a bright future. If we had what they have on offense in the coaching staff I don't think we would be talking about our offense. Oh and they have Frank Reich as head coach. He was a QB.

Can't believe he saw that play and thought the handoff would've got a first. The All 22 view clearly shows a DT shed inside instantly and a safety sitting in a hole unblocked. Would've been a 2 yard loss.
It all starts with Canada and the OLine what 12 rushing yards going into the 4th quarter is picketts fault? You can't set up the pass game with out a run game. The run game has been non existent
They don't even try to run the ball is the biggest issue going back the last couple years. They had 7 run plays called in the entire first half of the game while allowing Pickett to throw the ball 19 times. This team doesn't even attempt to establish a run game and haven't for a few years now.

I’m glad everyone is starting to speak up about everything Steelers fans have been saying for years. Canada is not the guy and we NEED to move off from him.
1. Canada's play calling hasn't been amazing. 2. Kenny has not looked amazing. 3. The OL is really killing our running game right now and making it non-existent. Many times Najee receives the handoffs, there is already a defender touching him. There are no holes for Najee or whoever to run. Warren is looking good, yes, but he also typically goes in when it's 3rd down and we HAVE to pass it. That's a huge difference than when they're trying to use Najee. I'm critical of our OL coach and OC right now.

Why are they constantly trying to call plays for Harris to the outside when he never has been that fast and with a line that can't block long enough for him to get out there?

The thing is that at some point this year, he’ll have a decent stretch beating bad teams, and unfortunately, that’ll extend his grace period. I was 100% against drafting him in the 1st round since day one. I thought (like the other 31 teams) that he was a 3rd or 4th round pick.
It’s sad when you’re a fan and you actually hate watching your team play offence. I feel sorry for the Steelers entire defence. Watt’s career has been completely wasted here. The offence absolutely suck and teams with far less firepower offensively seem to make plays beyond 15 yards. That QB keeper on the third down actually made me laugh

Some of this boils down to Tomlin. Why does he get a pass? Is he blind to his coaching staff not being able to perform? Enough of the tomlinisms “ don’t blink. Standard is the standard” bs.
To do modern stuff...with Pickett...he needs a better offensive line. Run blocking is one thing. Pass protection is another. Just look at the Eagles. Their best unit to me is offensive line. Then, their corners.
His comments are correct on Pickett but looking at one read, staring someone down, what guy to throw to….that is all gameplan and he is being told to do that. Those pass plays are all scripted to where, when and who he throws to. Numerous run plays called when Cleveland had 8-10 in the box. The run is too predictable. Watch the gamefilm on any of his stupid jet sweeps. Teams are just waiting for the runner in the exact spot they need to be. The problem with this offense is the run game. The problem with the run game is Matt Canada and his play calling. You can predict the plays from home without being a pro football player that studies. You can even take it a step further. After Pickett INT everyone in the stadium, including the browns, knew that the next drive would be 3 straight run calls.
Pickett didnt have a great game. Ill give it that. HOWEVER. Big Ben COULD NOT get Matt Canadas plays to work. Our offense scored when Ben called the plays or made the audible. If Ben couldnt get it done, neither can Pickett. Fire. Canada.

Matt Canada doesn’t utilize the personnel he has. It’s a young core but his plays are so premeditated from the couch I know what the play is going from the sets. Canada isn’t scheming or mixing it up. Nagee Harris has looked horrible to me also he is 6’1 or 6’2 240 but always tiptoeing like a small guy! C’mon bro get downhill and burst through the gaps his running would open up the RPOs, Play•Action, type plays right now it’s easy to cover our receivers with no threats on the ground with those telepathic a** plays smh. I believe Kenny's having some mental issues. Something getting into his head. Maybe the pressure of having to succeed after the way last season ended, how the preaseason ended, and all the noise and hype prior to week 1.
The time is now to utilize the first 2 draft picks. Dan Moore is one of if not the worst starting LT in the NFL and CB Levi Wallace has been dreadful the first 2 weeks. Tomlin please start Broderick Jones and Joey Porter Jr vs the Raiders. Also as a bonus Jaylen Warren should be the future back. It’s starting to become clear and obvious he is better then Najee and the offense seems to somewhat click when he’s in the game.
I agree with the first two, but not with the second. Najee is still a beast, Warren is just the quicker more explosive back. There is absolutely no time for the play to develop and give Najee the space to make someone miss. He's wrapped up by two or three guys at the line any time he doesn't move out wide. Meanwhile, Warren breaks through the very first gap he sees and has the speed to push through the first hands that touch him. Give Najee the Killer B's O-line that Le'Veon Bell had and watch him kill the whole league. He's a powerback with some finesse to his game, where as Warren is a speedback with some size to him.
Actually I REALLY liked everyone of those and thought offense flourished under everyone of those OC. I never understood why fans never liked Haley. The Steelers offense was explosive with him as OC and put up points. Canada though is a different story. When I can tell at home what offense is going to run on several occasions I can only imagine what opposition knows. Not only that but it’s the timing of when he calls some of these plays. Why make it complicated for an offense on critical third downs. That’s my biggest problem with him.

I was hoping change would happen before the season but I think that winning streak and the way Kenny played later on in season is big reason they stuck with him and didn’t want to mess with Picketts development in changing coordinators.
@@bradgeffers1080 I think the main reason people disliked Haley is because that is when the Steelers changed identity. The team had always been a run first team and with his offense it was bombs away. Which worked great in the regular season which is how they put up so many points. The downside was in that time they sacrificed the defense to pay the offense. So the 2 things the Steelers were always known for (running the ball and defense) were gone and no "real" success came from it. That is why I think most people wanted Haley gone.

If you listen to any QB analysis guys who are rating these young QBs, or defensive coordinators and players, they all talk about how this offense is so simple and basic it's your standards concepts on essentially a highschool level.
Yep. You guys are both right. Kenny has regressed. Probably not permanent. And the offense affords us no advantage. The defense is not stressed out with our plays or blocking schemes.

I think he is wrong about Najee getting a first down, I think that play was dead before it started, it was a completely horrible call. I am still undecided on Kenny, I want to see him get some fair chances at playing with good calls with a back up cast. Not with a run game under 100 and a pass game which is heavily dependent on running away from defenders and throwing off the back foot. Not every QB is going to be Mahomes.
The all 22 view shows the play. There was 0% chance Najee gets a first there. Kenny even made the right read to keep. DE crashed inside so the QB should keep in read option, problem was Steelers didn't account for the LB looping the edge which is dumb because it was an obvious run situation..
No, its true if he hands it off its a first down. Also, Kenny ran right into the pressure when all he had to do was run behind his block. I wouldnt have called it because idk if they work on read option much but the play was there and Kenny didnt make it.

I believe Kenny now having issues he didn't have before is because he, and the rest of the offense know they're going into each game with a bad hand (Canada's offensive play calling) and feel they have to force any success the offense can have on the field.
If you sit down at poker table and you get a bad hand dealt to you every time, and you know that isn't going to change, well you either fold, lose, or you have to bluff your way to a win. Imagine stepping on to an NFL field every week knowing you have a losing hand calling the offense. What are you going to do? What choice do you really have?

Canada is calling plays where KP is in shotgun and hands ball off lol u can’t run ball that way because OL not that good that Defense is coming in backfield fast. Jet sweeps sucked as well. Needs to run KP under center handing ball off to Harris and Warren then pass the ball to Austin3, Pickens, Friermuth etc. That also gives defense a break instead of being Constantly on the field
My thing is you can watch every snap of offense under Matt Canada's scheme since he's been to Pittsburgh with 4 diff QBs and it all looks identical. And that's saying Trubisky Pickett Rudolph and even HOFer Ben Rothlisberger all make his system run poorly and look terribly bad in terms creativity. I honestly think Canada either just didn't have enough experience in terms of NFL offenses or really believes that division 2 watered down spread system will work in the NFL. You aren't gonna fool defenses in the league very often or for very long with alota the stuff he runs

Fellas. Kenny Pickett is frustrated at the play calling from Canada. It is showing in his performance. He would be much better playing to his skill set, instead of trying to compete with Canada's play calling averages. Canada's plays are too predictive for other defenses.
I believe that Big Ben would be an excellent choice to call the plays for Kenny and Steeler's Nation. We will continue to chant "Fire Canada." We must move on from him. Canada is calling plays like he is afraid to go down field.
We only establish the run game after establishing the passing game, in my opinion.

Exactly how I feel. I want to blame Canada, but Kenny's performance stops me. I got to add the route scheme on the 3d & 3 dump to Warren that sprung him for 30 yards was a thing of beauty. I seen a handful of schemed plays that are elite, just no where near enough, and too many standard is the standard 5 yard sit routes.
Sounds kinda weird. But they gotta speed Pickett up so the game slows down. From the time the ball is snapped he drops back and gets the ball. They need to speed that up. So he can have a extra second to scan the field give WRs a extra second to run the route. Then when he throws not put his whole body in it. Don't know who the QB coach is.
Young qb’s are always more comfortable in the 2 minute but that offensive play style doesn’t compliment an elite defensive well.
Looking at Kenny pickets eyes, he’s not all there. Somethings wrong in his head. He might have truly suffered a concussion and he’s trying to play it off that it was not. You can see it in his eyes up close hopefully by next Sunday he is fully recovered from whatever is happening, mental or we’re going to see the same thing.

We had basically the same offense since Haley.. our O line has gotten progressively worse since Munch left for Denver. Our Steelers are so dysfunctional even the plane doesnt work.
Dan Orlovsky used to play for us. I think I respect his opinion. I hear what he's saying about Carolina. Ive looked at their coaching staff. They have a bright future. If we had what they have on offense in the coaching staff I don't think we would be talking about our offense. Oh and they have Frank Reich as head coach. He was a QB.

They don't even try to run the ball is the biggest issue going back the last couple years. They had 7 run plays called in the entire first half of the game while allowing Pickett to throw the ball 19 times. This team doesn't even attempt to establish a run game and haven't for a few years now.

I’m glad everyone is starting to speak up about everything Steelers fans have been saying for years. Canada is not the guy and we NEED to move off from him.
1. Canada's play calling hasn't been amazing.
2. Kenny has not looked amazing.
3. The OL is really killing our running game right now and making it non-existent. Many times Najee receives the handoffs, there is already a defender touching him. There are no holes for Najee or whoever to run.
Warren is looking good, yes, but he also typically goes in when it's 3rd down and we HAVE to pass it. That's a huge difference than when they're trying to use Najee.
I'm critical of our OL coach and OC right now.
Im no fan of Canada, but its not his fault we cant run the ball effectively. It seems Najee does not hit the hole like Warren does.

The thing is that at some point this year, he’ll have a decent stretch beating bad teams, and unfortunately, that’ll extend his grace period. To do modern stuff...with Pickett...he needs a better offensive line. Run blocking is one thing. Pass protection is another. Just look at the Eagles. Their best unit to me is offensive line. Then, their corners.
His comments are correct on Pickett but looking at one read, staring someone down, what guy to throw to….that is all gameplan and he is being told to do that. Those pass plays are all scripted to where, when and who he throws to. Numerous run plays called when Cleveland had 8-10 in the box. The run is too predictable. Watch the gamefilm on any of his stupid jet sweeps. Teams are just waiting for the runner in the exact spot they need to be. The problem with this offense is the run game. The problem with the run game is Matt Canada and his play calling. You can predict the plays from home without being a pro football player that studies. You can even take it a step further. After Pickett INT everyone in the stadium, including the browns, knew that the next drive would be 3 straight run calls.

Matt Canada doesn’t utilize the personnel he has. It’s a young core but his plays are so premeditated from the couch I know what the play is going from the sets. Canada isn’t scheming or mixing it up. Nagee Harris has looked horrible to me also he is 6’1 or 6’2 240 but always tiptoeing like a small guy! C’mon bro get downhill and burst through the gaps his running would open up the RPOs, Play•Action, type plays right now it’s easy to cover our receivers with no threats on the ground with those telepathic a** plays smh. I believe Kenny's having some mental issues. Something getting into his head. Maybe the pressure of having to succeed after the way last season ended, how the preaseason ended, and all the noise and hype prior to week 1.
The time is now to utilize the first 2 draft picks. Dan Moore is one of if not the worst starting LT in the NFL and CB Levi Wallace has been dreadful the first 2 weeks. Tomlin please start Broderick Jones and Joey Porter Jr vs the Raiders. Also as a bonus Jaylen Warren should be the future back. It’s starting to become clear and obvious he is better then Najee and the offense seems to somewhat click when he’s in the game.
I agree with the first two, but not with the second. Najee is still a beast, Warren is just the quicker more explosive back. There is absolutely no time for the play to develop and give Najee the space to make someone miss. He's wrapped up by two or three guys at the line any time he doesn't move out wide. Meanwhile, Warren breaks through the very first gap he sees and has the speed to push through the first hands that touch him. Give Najee the Killer B's O-line that Le'Veon Bell had and watch him kill the whole league. He's a powerback with some finesse to his game, where as Warren is a speedback with some size to him.

I was hoping change would happen before the season but I think that winning streak and the way Kenny played later on in season is big reason they stuck with him and didn’t want to mess with Picketts development in changing coordinators.

The team had always been a run first team and with his offense it was bombs away. Which worked great in the regular season which is how they put up so many points. The downside was in that time they sacrificed the defense to pay the offense. So the 2 things the Steelers were always known for (running the ball and defense) were gone and no "real" success came from it. That is why I think most people wanted Haley gone.
