I did quite a few of these last summer. for large holes I routered out and replaced with wood and used bondo epoxy wood filler. 2 coats of contact cement on the plate and 3 on the bare kickback then used a sheet of plywood and some 2x4s to press and stick. so far non have fallen off and no hollow spots from bondo. next time I do them im going with screws or nails lol.
At a center I worked at, the kickbacks were in bad shape. I used bondo to fill in the holes. Wasn't sure how it would hold up, but after 10 years of running like that, the bondo has held up.
I could see Bondo holding up well for small issues or very light divots. I don't think it would be very good long-term for larger holes. It wouldn't be tough enough. The Saturday service stop used wood filler. It didn't work at all. Now they have new plates with holes in them.
I had a can of 3M contact cement that was superb. Can't remember the exact name..they have several. Held everything better than Weldwood. I need to ty & find it again. Weldwood is decent enough.
I will see what Grainger or Amazon has to offer. I am definitely interested to see if it is a stronger bond. I know that I had to chisel off one of these after having used the Weldwood product. The one in this video had the factory adhesive and just fell off randomly.
There are a lot of factors to carry. The condition and how soft the wood behind the kick plate is. The health, height, and how solid the flat gutters are. Also, how lively the pins are. Just changing out a bad kick plate doesn't really affect carry.

Covid 2020 we replaced out front Kickplates. Not fun chisseling out that old beaten crap. Thank god we didn't do the rears.
Kick plates don't work! If they did, I would leave far fewer ten pins!
