I'm a huge Talking Heads fan, so I began by watching this through my fingers. But it soon became clear that Neil and the lads knew what they were doing. I really enjoyed this!
I usually expect a cover to sound different from the original song, but let's face it: "Road to Nowhere" is one of those perfect songs that couldn't be bettered. So when I saw that someone I consider as one of those rare geniuses of songwriting dared to cover it, knowing his huge talent for crafting and arranging his own material, I secretly hoped he would sing it as it's meant to be and it's just PER-FECT! Neil Hannon, for me, is still too much "ignored" outside of Europe and it's really unfair. He's one of my heroes.
Neil Hannity would be the first to acknowledge the many brilliant arrangements of his songs by Keyboardist Joby Talbot. National Express in my opinion is his best song and Talbot’s best arrangement.
If the science department of your old high school put a band together it would look like these guys. But the sound the get in performing such a technical song if fantastic. Just a great combination of a little 80s and 90s, his voice hasn’t changed in nearly 30years 👍
Neil's current version of The Divine Comedy has to have some of the best backing vocal musicians of any band out there. It really shines through in the acapella section at the start, and how well they sing it live.
I first saw Divine Comedy on the Big Breakfast (an early morning show on Channel 4 hosted by Chris Evans) when Evans said he'd heard a demo tape by a band called Divine Comedy. I've been a Divine Comedy fan ever since.
Good evening, everyone..! Thank you so much for sharing this smashing Talking Heads song from the 70's..I miss so bad songs like this one.! Excellent ! Great cover ! God bless you ! Greetings from Brazil west..!
Just back from watching Neil live in Nottingham. Great show, packed house of enthusiastic people: very memorable gig. Do wish they'd done this as an encore now, though! This sounded on point.

Love this song and always been huge fan of Talking Heads and Neil Hannon.
They make it look easy, but every last one of them has a part to play in this production. Absolutely perfect.
Great version!. Congratulations, from Argentina.

🥀Une vraie réussite ce cover, les élèves, Divine Comedy et les professeurs Talking Heads, sont à égalité. C’est ce qu’on appelle, avoir du talent❣️

It's no the laddie from Dumbarton but nonetheless really good cover :)
Love you guys..xx
It's like a band made up of geography teachers
Did anyone jump on hoping for a cover of the tittle theme to Max and Paddy?
I thought that was Shane McGowan on the accordion when they did a profile shot of him!
Not bad at all, it's lovely
❤
The Singing Heads !
Ace version.
Sounds great, but there's only one David Byrne.
Almost exceptional... but for NH messing up the lyrics, it would've been. They should do it again, great musicianship..
Go háilainn
Picaso decía que los artistas no copian. Los artistas roban. Esta manera de robar es una maravilla: Enhorabuena a estos grandiosos ladrones!
Thanks Bill Gates
The guy sings very high at the intro
Is awful!
...an attempt was made.
