Shop logo on seat for sure. It's like putting your signature on the bike as the builder.
Never thought of it like that.
Personally I think a long rear fender about half way down the tire with a tombstone light would look cool. No front fender. But that's just my thinking of old school. Good video dude.
That might be a good look to it. I just didn’t want the fender to appear like it’s missing a rear seat.
I've been enjoying watching this build every body needs to learn something everyday good stuff man thanks
I appreciate your kind words and for watching.
The cat bowl air cleaner looks awesome man
Thank you! I think it fits the bike well.
Well to me the fender #1 looked the best and as far as a logo, Your logo is super cool !!! I really enjoy your videos !!
Great advice and thank you for your compliment on my shop logo.
I think an idea is an old FL fender on the rear with a tombstone taillight would look great, (I'm building my bike with that rear selection as well.) As for the springer, use brass bushings. The top would have been held centered by the original washers. Man that is one SWEEEET looking scoot!!!!!!!! I wish I could put a pic of mine on here! I'll send a pic on Facebook of my bike as it sat a few months ago.
I’d love to see it. Thanks for the suggestions and for watching.
Use brass sleeve. If you have to drill from back so you can grease it so it slides
That’s exactly what I did. Thanks for the tip.
👍👍👍👍
As always the wait 100% paid off🤙cheers man!
It’s coming along great!
Thanks again I enjoy it
Thank you for watching and commenting.
McMaster Carr has flanged bushings. Sure you could find an exact fit. Used em on a girder long ago. Love the cat bowl
If these bushing fail I will certainly look into those. Thanks for the tip!
For the trim on the air cleaner. Look at door trim. They have different colors and it's durable
Great idea.
Put the trim in very hot water , quickly dry it and put it on hot it should cool to shape. Let it cool it'll retain shape then glue it. Looks good to me.
Thank you for that suggestion! I wound up flipping it over and it shaped up nicely.
@@butlercustoms ha ha I was texting it while you were explaining that ,good for next time pal.
@gazzer883 certainly.
Short black, keep it black. Sweet bike.
Never thought about keeping it black! Thanks for the suggestion.
Keep the rear shocks and use the short black fender. How about a spoke front wheel?
Name? “Butler’s Iron”.
I think the reason that your viewers are nice, is because your calm and friendly demeanor encourages them to return it.
@@squid148 your words are very kind. And great ideas on the name and conversion. I think it’s going to turn out to be a great classic ride for someone. Thanks again.
I like the 3rd fender
That one is growing in popularity!
Im digging fender #2
I think you’re the first for that one! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I like it !!!!!
Thank you!
It's been 30 years or so, following a buddy, he went over some tracks and his front end split. He was bruised up but made it. It also was a no name frontend. As a long time springer rider, I would not ride that front end. Looks nice, but that is all, has seen it's better days if it had any to begin with. Just a thought.💭
I’m thinking a pivoting brace would help a whole lot. But that springer must have tons of stories it could tell. It looks sound and safe enough to take on a test ride, so I’ll let everyone know how it goes.
U know what u might like for your trim on the carb? They have that door trim at all the car stores. It comes in chrome and black. It will last a year or 2,but u can easily replace it in 5 minutes
Great idea
@@butlercustoms that is a sweet looking cover,my friend.
@@markanderson3555 thank you. I appreciate your kind compliment.
I love this Sportster. Shifting on the right side is going to be a real learning curve. Regarding the back fender, I like the 1st one, the shorty. As it relates to naming the bike, how about of the 1st gal that broke your heart?
It seems like fender #1 is the most popular so far and probably my favorite. And my wife said “Negative!” on naming it after an old girlfriend. Ha.
Try A 1/4 in vacuum line split down the center it will give it a lean look CT of WV
Great idea
I'm thinking something significant towards the Southern Appalachians ? or maybe a viking type of logo.
The fender is a hard one, not so much into the swoop. :)
Great video, 👍
Seems like everyone is liking the short one the best. Maybe an Appalachian Viking? Ha
Merci 👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The Time Traveler
I like that.
I think that part u knocked out might have been cut off of an old pushrod tube,i think that will work.
It sure looked like one but it’s a different diameter.
👍👍👍🏍️
Tack a washer on it ??Looks like Ya gotter by the Yang Yang !!thats looks like the type frontend on my 72 750 four chopper resembles the Sugar Bear style frontend , but not..
I wish I knew the manufacturer. A tacked washer would work but it looks like the spring pressure is holding them in just fine.
@@butlercustoms I hear Ya Sir . Good deal
What about a narrower fuel filter? Like a visufilter?
That would help. As long as it’s not glass I’d be fine with that. I might try to find a percock where the spout is coming out the back of the bike instead of the front. That would clean it up a lot, shorten the distance, and give me better access to the petcock lever.
@@butlercustoms They’re plastic and smaller than the filter you have.
@@jameyharrison7499 I’ll check them out! It would certainly help. Thanks.
Take a magnet and go over the tank, and u will know how much bondo.
That’s true. Never thought about that. But we will soon see one way or the other. Maybe a small dent or two would bring out the character of the bike more. Thanks.
Cut that sleeve to the right length and JB weld it in.
@@Andrew-pr8ic so far it’s working out but I might have to resort to that later. Thanks for the idea.
What is this cooper mesh product you use? Tried to find on ebay - no luck (
Send me your email and I’ll send you the Amazon link. It’s like $7 for a roll. Butlercustomsmotorcycleshop@gmail.com
Can’t u drill out the top tree and put some regular bushing like u have there
I didn’t want to go drilling on everything if I could find the correct bushings for it. In the end it worked out good. thanks.
I have a question for u. I want to run a velocity stack on my carb. But cant fiqure out,how to keep trash out of my carb,do u have any suggestions? Thanks
Absolutely! Go buy you a tea strainer that has the rounded metal mesh screen. Cut out the rounded part and place it in inside the cone. I’ve done several like that.
Thank u so much. Two heads and all!
@@markanderson3555 my pleasure

You’re the first to suggest that. Most have said the short black one. Thanks.
fender..... no.2 is definitely out, i like the first one but without seeing how no. 3 would look it's difficult to say, then again it would be a shame if you cut the fender to fit and you didn't like it, waste of a good fender. so for me, no. 1 it is
That was my thinking
What kind of car is that in the back of the shop?
@@Andrew-pr8ic that’s is a 1965 Fiberfab Avenger GT-12. It’s based off the Ford GT-40 Mark 1 prototype.
Call the bike Gemini. Its a 74, I was born June 74
That’s a cool name.
Swedge the ends of the tube ..
That’s a good idea.
@@butlercustoms well that's whay I could come up with.. I- tend to tinker a little bit myself.. you do good videos my videos are rather .. caveman
@@MoeLarrycurly1 I appreciate your kind words. I’ll check your videos out. Thanks.
