Original by Scott. Scott said that he wanted Avi to sing this. And it was played at the end of the Bones episode that the trio was in. Scott wrote this as a lullaby for his nephew when he was born.
@@leannajohnson4494 indeed. The kiddo is like 7 by now! I think one of the original ideas for titles was to call it Landons song. He has like... 5 or 6 nieces and nephews now and he absolutely adores them!
As Scott was writing this, he “heard” it in Avi’s voice. At first Avi was reluctant to record such a personal song for Scott and somehow “take it away” but Scott insisted. I am glad he sang it. Avi’s voice is so warm. Stunning arrangement.
I'm a grandma and this brought me to tears remembering putting my children to bed. They have their own grown children now but the sweetness of bedtimes with them is a lovely memory. Pentatonix has a gift and we are all blessed when they give it to us wrapped in beauty and emotion.
I love Kevin's outrageous beatboxing but when a song does not call for it and he sings with the group, that five part harmony is heart wrenchingly superb.
So beautiful. Scott wrote this for his nephew. He wanted Avi to sing it because of the emotional quality in his voice. Avi was surprised as he clearly thought Scott should sing it but Scott was adamant. Avi was tremendously honored. Here is the last PTX concert performance with Avi which includes this song. They liked to sing it at the end of their performances without mics. The audience was hanging on every word. It was raining and you could've heard a pin drop. This is fan footage so not the best but the emotion in the crowd and with the group is palpable. The last song they sing is their original song entitled Sing so if you've not reacted to that one yet you may want to stop the video before then. However, if you have already seen them perform Sing you should watch it as well and the farewell to Avi. th-cam.com/video/eYZ11xMGm48/w-d-xo.html
For some reason, this is the PTX song that is guaranteed to bring tears to my eyes. I don't have any idea why it strikes me so hard, but it just does. The beauty of the 5-part harmony, with Avi singing the lead, makes it one of my favorite PTX songs.
Stunning song. They havent performed it since Avi left since it's so clearly his lead. Wise choice even though it sucks that we cant hear this beauty anymore. It's stunning in the live videos. And absolutely heart breaking during avis last show. Random fact, this song was covered recently on Idol or something of the sort. So fun that ptx originals are getting notable covers. This is not a christmas song or even on a christmas album. Pretty sure it was on their first original album.
Anytime they sing in 5 part harmony, i cry with joy. Those songs are so gorgeous. I don't know how Avi was able to sing this as his last song with the group. .makes me tear up just thinking of it.
As others mentioned, Scott was inspired to write this for his soon to be born nephew, but he imagined Avi as the lead singer when writing. It's such a pretty lullaby for all ages that it had already become a favorite closing song at many of their concerts. I'm not surprised the group chose it to be 1 of the 2 "goodbye from Avi" songs on his last PTX tour. There are fan videos of Avi's last few performances of this song if you want to hear it live. It's one of those all-harmony songs where the group just gathers around 1 mic & the crowd gets really quiet.
I wonder if this song planted the seed of Avi going solo. This song was perfect for him. Pentatonix is all about putting egos aside and doing what is best for the song. It is one of the reasons they are so good. Song perfection is always the goal.
Hi D. There are several live fan made concert performances of this song that are all great and worth a watch and maybe a reaction if you have the time. In concert they put the mics down and just sing to a silent Arena!
It’s a beautiful lullaby, so it is appropriate any time of the year, and for all us children of any age. It is so soothing. Thank you Scott, for writing this. Thank you Avi, for singing it so warmly.
Stunning, beautiful, gorgeous,…The only problem with this being a lullaby is that anyone listening to it would not want to actually fall asleep and miss any of it, even the final note at the end. I agree with an entire lullaby album though. 💜
This is one of my all-time favorite PTX songs. Thinking of these lyrics has gotten me through quite a few almost sleepless nights. It is one of the few rare Avi leads, and one with all 5 singing the whole song. When they performed this in concert, they would all put down their mics and sing into one standing mic. I saw this live, and it was very special. This was the second to last song that Avi sang in a PTX concert, and the video for that is really beautiful, and sad. Here is a link to a good live performance (not the last one - I can't watch that very often): th-cam.com/video/uhUhFVCIxgo/w-d-xo.html
I love this song and they do it live. Hey, try "what is this feeling" live it's from Wicked. And you need a Kirstin solo...never neverland, the one with Scott the writer of the song playing piano.
😭😩 I'm balling so hard right now. I've only heard this once before, but it somehow didn't hit me this hard. It's such a gorgeous and loving song. Scott's writing is just wonderful and Avi's lead is perfect! It's even comforting to an adult (me). Thank you.
Hello D, Isn't his just beautiful? PTX original, written for a special purpose, with great meaning and beautifully performed. Some PTX songs with low view count is because they don't have music videos but only lyric videos or visualizers.
I absolutely love this one, Avi’s voice is perfect. The only problem with this (and Standing By - also stunning) is that neither PTX nor Avi can sing it now. Which is just sad

Scott's decision to have Avi sing lead was perfect. His voice is like a warm security blanket. The harmonies are stunning.
A great original, full of feels, from the PTX greats!!
❤stunning

Totally agree your solo work is really great
A really beautiful song!! You should try also another one sang by Avi Standing by!!!

I really really think they should do an entire lullaby album. This is so beautiful
Or a children's album of some sort. not necessarily all lullaby songs.
Scott wrote this lullaby for his nephew when he was born, and had Avi in mind for the lead.
I agree! They really tug at your heartstrings! What a beautiful song! Thanks for reacting to this!

@CharleneCB Totally agree, Avi is successfully following his path and above all he is happy fulfilling his dream. he he is great.
They did this in concert around a single mic. It's one of the last songs they did with Avi. Love it!
Such an absolutely beautiful song and sing with such emotion from Avi and all the harmonies from the rest of this group was amazing!
Hi D.
I'm happy you liked my request. And You're right - it needs more views.
Perfect bedtime music.
So beautiful!!! So much warmth....sigh....
I hope they play this for Kevin and Kirsten’s little girls. Love the tranquility!

Scott wrote this for his new born nephew, but Avi's voice is what made the song.

This is NOT a Christmas song. It is a beautiful lullaby that Scott wrote for his baby nephew. It is pretty incredible, IMHO.
Love to see your reaction to "When You Wish Upon A Star" audio. Perfection.
I hope you'll react PTX cover on" Dancing on my own". It's worth listening..

They actually used this for the closing credits on the episode of t.v. show Bones where the trio guest starred. Beautiful end to the episode.
Avis Voice in this is mind Blowing.

It's not a Christmas song. It's was written as a lullaby
