Those are also my childhood oatmeal raisin cookies, which I loved with a glass of lemonade in the summer. These days, a nice cup of tea and a book will go nicely with these cookies on a a snowy day. Thank you for sharing!

Love these cookies, Love how Simmering the raisins definitely makes them plump, And using that juice for the recipe, Love the Pecans in them , And the cloves really add a nice flavor, However I do have an electric stove and cook them for 10 minutes on the on the paper, Rack in the middle they tend to get a little burnt on the bottom so now I do them at 8 And a half minutes and they come out perfect, Will definitely make a game

This recipe reminds me of my childhood too Constance.
My husband loves soft chewy Oatmeal raisin cookies, I definitely need to try your recipe. 😉 He likes his thinner,
have you any suggestions on what I
need to do to make these thinner
    using your recipe?
    Thanks for sharing your wonderful
    cookie recipe.
God bless you and your family sweet friend ❤️

You might try substituting half of the shortening with butter. Maybe even all of the shortening with butter. Butter melts much faster than shortening, and allows the cookies to spread out more, making them thinner.

Yummy Yummy, I love the cookie, I can smell them coming out of the oven, thanks again for sharing, I just printed out the recipe,
can I use butter instead of shorting thanks again, Have a great day. 😋😍👍🙏

Using butter instead of shortening is an option, however the cookies will spread out and become thinner.

Hi Constance. When you bake bread, cookies, etc., it would be helpful if you could cut a slice of bread, break the cookie open, so that we can see the texture inside. Thank You

can I use 2 sticks of butter instead of shortening???

I haven't tried it, but it would likely work. Your cookies may spread out more though and be thinner. So I would watch the baking time.

I have often wondered about the ULU that you use! Thank you for sharing the information and the link. I looked and wonder is the one you have the one on the link for 25.00?? Since I do not know anything about them and their quality I thought I would get the one that you own. Thanks...

I spent about $80 or so on the one I have and use the most often. I do have one that is similar to the $25 one, but that is more of a souvenir grade one.

Wher did you get the wooden chopping block you chopped the nuts on? look like it has a curve in it

It came with one of my ulus. I believe the Alaska Bowl Company that I mentioned in the video information, sells them if you wanted just the board.

I love those containers with the rubber rings on them they keep things so fresh. I also have a habit of breaking the metal wire to close them. Do you have a brand that you like that maybe will last better for me? I usually find them at dollar general but you know they are not made very well. I have got to quit watching you, I have a habit of drooling when I watch you, or the worst is I have to try your recipes. Dumb thing to say that is why you are sharing so we can make the things you show. Anywho Love your videos and your recipes.

Thank you Nancy! The shorter one with the orange gasket, that my baking soda is in, I have had for years. It is really well made and I have a couple of them. Unfortunately there is no brand mark, so I have no idea who makes them. I've actually had them so long, I don't even remember where I bought them. The taller one with the white gasket, that has my baking powder in it, is made by Ball. I bought it a few months ago. I like it well enough, but not as much as the other.

Have you ever tried Brach's chocolate covered raisins in your cookies, put them in the very last. Fattening but man they are so good.
