Dude - looks like you also built a rattlesnake condo close to your new dump pipe. Tall grass, rodents, and cover... Standard South Texas snake habitat. If I was you, and I'm not, I would definitely clear some of that up.
I think the benefit would be portability to take to your next camper. Many of us will install upgrade projects but then a couple years later when it's time for a new camper, very few uninstall those upgrades to transfer them to the new camper.
Did you ever do the follow-up testing the plug-n-play? Very interested in the update.

Interesting, I wonder how it would not temporarily “brown out” or reduce available current for devices already running when, let’s say, the second AC kicks on while the first one is already running? True soft start devices use thyristors that gate the incoming sine wave half cycles. Control of those thyristors is what ramps up the line voltage and available current from a reduced value to full line value for a specific time frame. Doing that to already running devices can be detrimental. Having installed and programmed hundreds of industrial soft starts which function exactly like the soft starts that wire directly to the AC units, I’m scratching my head just a bit. Looking forward to more content on these.

I think they would call that a bayonet coupler lid, but I'm not sure. That ActiveStart system seems like a product that can be installed on an RV and never need to be reinstalled with a brand-new A/C unit, but I'm mostly glad it's down lower where you can fix it on the go with little to no issues. I don't know if one installed up top needs reinstalled with a new A/C unit, but that might also vary from unit to unit.

The 50 amp one is normally $1200.00 but on sale for $750.00 USD.
I wonder how it plays with my current Hughes 50A autoformer and my Progressive Industries surge protector/ power analyzer.
At that price, AND not replacing a good surge protector, getting on the roof to install the $300 unit suddenly seems more attractive.

I would very much like to have one of the 50Amp with surge protection, however $750 is just too much for me to justify. We normally camp with 50Amp service, so I have not needed it, however we plan to start boon docking with Solar and generator, and will need this when running on the generator if we want to run the AC's. Will wait a bit to see if the price comes down.

I'm plugged in at home to 110V. Think it's 15A. Waiting to see if this will start the AC. Looks like a good product.

I had another soft start that hardwired in and it worked great. I was able to run 1 ac with a 2500w and both with a 4000w. I believe this is using the same tech therefore I’m hoping it does. I also hoping they make one that can go between a factory installed generator.

I was told that it’s not good for microwaves to get lower voltage. Does this have any protection for those types of appliances?
I imagine you could temporarily turn it off with Bluetooth. Good point though
No it only has surge protection in the most expensive unit and it’s not a full EMS that offers things like low voltage protection. That’s the deal killer for me.
Thanks JD. I'm very curious about the 50 amp version. Will it allow me to run one 15,000 BTU AC from a 3200 Watt inverter generator. I have small 5th wheel with 50 amp service and would like to try some light boon-docking. I have two 100 Amp hour lithium batteries, 2000 watt inverter and 400 watts of solar panels. Looking to purchase a 3200 to 4000 watt generator to be able to run one AC a short while and as back up to charge the batteries. With this device do you think its possible?

I have a Genmax 3300 watt suitcase style inverter generator. I am able to run my 15K BTU AC off the generator without an active start. I'm going to purchase the active start so I can hopefully run both AC's off the generator. My generator is 3000 continuous watts 3300 surge watts. I would imagine you would be able to do the same with a 3200 watt.

@SlooDon I've had it a year and a half. I don't have a lot of hours on it but it hasn't let me down yet.
That doesnt do any good when youre running off your inverter and batteries. My Victron inverter is direct to lithium battery bank. No spot for that huge plug. Plus, if im on shore power, who cares?
