    I have it and I agree it’s a bit more finicky than it probably needs to be but I think I’m a very odd niche customer who benefits from some of its properties. I have incredibly dry skin and I’m prone to redness. When I put it all over and then add foundation I feel like my redness is nicely minimized and my skin tone is evened out. It also really helps with my forehead which is my driest area. Everything looks more smooth. My favorite product to put on top is the missha b perfect cover bb cream. Works like a charm (for me)

    I use this as an illuminating BB cream and sheer coverage. I have dry skin and it gives me a nice glow. I prefer a dewy coverage as well so this suits me. Longwear not so much but it does not make that claim. I like that it seems to automatically match my shade upon application. I use the lightest shade but actually have medium-to-fair skin tone. I know it was launched in a limited shade range but apparently this was deliberate because the formulation is meant to adjust to most skin tones automatically. I never noticed the glitter in the formulation until reviews started coming out by other users who pointed that out. I have gone through this much faster than anything else I have ever used so I am uncertain the price point is actually good value anymore, particularly as the price seems to be going up. The sponge applicator also sucks. As far as dupe claims go with CT Hollywood Filter, which I also have and have used for many years, that is a reach.

    I've had this product for a few months and I feel similarly -- it's just incredibly OK. I *LIVE* for a light glowy base, but my two big issues with it are: even in the lightest shade it's kinda grey and dull on my skin (despite the shine), and when I use it all over alone, I like the finish but it stays wet in a way where if I touch my face at all it basically just wipes away immediately no matter how long I've had it on. I also have the ELF Halo Glow Liquid Filter and I prefer it to this, but I'm too cheap to buy the CT Flawless Filter, so I don't know how well that compares either.

    • @mollya8230
      @mollya8230 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      honestly the elf is a pretty spot on dupe for the CT, the only thing that might be different is the CT is slightly more emolient, which imo is not a good thing because it makes it more finicky on combo/oily types

    I wear the CT and other glowy products like this one under foundation . Then do concealer powder etc and the illumination comes through your foundation

    • @shinyhappypeople9043
      @shinyhappypeople9043 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s how I wear the CT . In the CT tutorials they dab a couple of dots, blend them, then in with the foundation, they don’t use a lot of product and it’s to give a little bit of glow under foundation.

      @@karlieneporter4939 yeah I think under light coverage it would be ok, I think I tried it under medium coverage and I didn't see a glow come through. Most my foundations are at least medium coverage otherwise they don't cover my redness haha

  • @nocas5391

    I bought it yesterday before seeing the reviews. When I used it it felt like my skin was oily and had too much glitter. I think that as a BB cream it doesn't work and as a concealer either because it has very little coverage so it doesn't cover dark circles as well as the brand's other concealer. As a highlighter for the cheekbones it might work and leave a nice glow but not all over the face. I also looked at the ingredients and there are some that clog pores which can cause acne. In conclusion, there are much better products than this one on the market and I don't think it's worth investing in this one.

    I got the lightest shade of this and it`s too dark 😅 Luckily it is so sheer that when I blend it in it looks like a shiny light bronzer and I can dab a foundation in the places I don`t want to be bronzy…I did not want an extra step, I wanted it to be a one and done base product for lazy days and it does not do that. I too have oily skin. I never tried this when I worked at ulta and after watching oily skin reviews decided to give it a whirl. the claims on this are mis leading. I think reading the claims you are going to have more fails than hits. I am constantly looking for a light weight easy breezy daily wearer. once powdered down it works for the heat of summer and I dig the feel of it. However, if I wear looking for the claims of the packaging I would be dissappointed. Perhaps, it needs a remarket.

    Mine would always come out split, like a clear oily liquid and a thick shimmery cream. I pushed through anyway, but I just found it underwhelming. I’ve got the Mac Strobe Cream and a mini of the Charlotte Tilbury, this isn’t an exact dupe for them, but I get such a similar effect that it’s not worth the finickiness. I know they are more expensive, but I’ve had my strobe cream so long I probably need to consider getting rid of it. And I use it most days I wear makeup.

    • @KitschSnitch
      @KitschSnitch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah mine is split too but it’s not hard to mix it. I do completely agree that it’s too finicky for the results. I’m just going to use it up and forget about it.
      Oh that’s great to hear that the strobe cream works so well for you. I’ve only had samples and never managed to make it work for me sadly, I don’t think my oily face likes to be covered in liquid highlighters 😅

    • @KitschSnitch
      @KitschSnitch  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that all comes down to your skin though, if I don’t powder my base my oil breaks down the makeup in around 6 hours. I have tried a sample of the CT one and it did nothing to prolong my base. It was just a nice liquid highlighter.
      The Maybelline one is pretty thick (you can see it in the conclusion) and from memory it’s thicker than the CT one. I might pick up another sample of the CT one to try it again, but I still don’t think it’s suited for my skin type. The CT might be a better formula (which I expect for the price) but I just can’t see it being better value than the M one. 60ml (2 bottles) of CT in Australia costs $130 (which doesn’t go on sale at Mecca) and 60ml (3 bottles) of the Maybelline one can cost $45 on sale… so even if you use it up faster, you will need to use 3 bottles of M to 1 CT for it to be the same cost per ml. So I don’t think it’s a false economy

    I have the CT and the Maybelline. The CT is nice but I won't buy it again just because I don't need it or rely on it. The Maybelline is barely OK and does much less in every way than the CT, plus I don't like the sponge applicator. It felt a bit slimy to me like it never dried down all the way. I think this product is simply not for you, the skilled makeup artist who creates a lovely finished face using lots of products. I don't think it's meant to be covered in powder. I had never bought a Maybelline product before this one, and I love it. I recommend it for when you're going somewhere that a heavily made-up look would be out of place: like a hiking trail. Skiing. A run to the farmer's market. Or heading home after an overnight when you don't have your array of makeup products with you. The finish with this is natural and dewy, better than no makeup at all, and there are a lot of times when that look is appropriate for the activity.
