7 months ago this tutorial showed me how to sew for the first time in my life. That stitch has been perfect since. I just used this tutorial again and it's just so easy to follow. Thank you so much! :-)
You're a legend Pat! ❤️ I wish my Nan was still alive in times like these! 30 year old dude and my girlfriend didn't remember how to sew haha. It's amazing the wisdom/guidance you can find on TH-cam! 👍 My university book bag strap broke (mass produced, schools own branded ones). I went to the textile shop and decided on some elastic strap, coloured to match and patterned, probably 1&1/2" wide (to make mine easy to identify 😊). Used your guide to learn the very basics. I cut a hole and had the strap folded and passed through it. Stitched around and above the hole, as well as a thick line below where the zipper line starts. Unfolded the strap below and did a huge square with criss-cross in same bright orange thread on the black canvas (top of bag is also orange). Looks great, can instantly tell mine, is strong, and most importantly is super comfortable on the shoulders 😎
My son just watched your video, and fixed his own backpack watching your video. You're making us all resourceful, informed with your video. Thanks a bunch
Thanks so much, I'm here in south america and have never held a needle to sew anything. This helped a lot me in making my own mask as we're low on supplies down here.
Wow, You are SOOOOO welcome. I'm making masks on my sewing machine, but I'm so glad you can make them now. See, hand sewing is time consuming, but very effective!!! Bless you and be safe! A concerned "Grammy"!!
Thank you for this! I'm a 45 year old gearhead who has the dexterity of a bull in a china shop. I repaired a comforter that I really didn't want to throw away. You saved me some money!
Thank you so much Pat!!! For the first time in my life without asking my mom, I sewed my bag strip by watching your tutorial. She's impressed about it too. I'm so happy, thank you so much!!!
thank you so much for this tutorial! I've never sewed before so I was a little afraid of learning it ( I thought it would be harder) but thanks to you I was able to turn a very nice art project in!
They taught us how to sew in middle school 15 years ago. I couldn't remember. Thank you Pat! My son's teddy bear is now fixed. Love your nails and your voice is also very calming.
I have literally been struggling the last three hours trying to work with my difficult fabric trying to knot my thread to stay and this has saved my life!!! I love you thank you so much!!!
I've been meaning to learn how to fix a button, so a rough and easy stitch is perfect for my purposes. Thank you for this video, I appreciate it as a total novice who feels like he has to learn at least the bare basics of things like this! :-)
I've never been able to sew. I'm 33 and I figured I need to k ow by now. This is the simplest way I've ever seen it down and you explain it so well. Thank you
Pat, you are the best! Thank you so much for the quick and easy to follow tutorial from someone who has never sowed before but does not want to admit that to my boyfriend!
Thank you! One of my favorite stuffed animals, a red panda, had a hole in his stomach, and I wanted to fix him all myself! It was my first time sewing, and I think I did a really good job. But I couldn't have done it without this video!
I'm just getting into sewing and this was very helpful. I looked at other tutorials but none of them were nearly as easy to understand or gave me sewing options that would make my project look clean. thanks!
Learning to sew at 45 and this is super helpful! I never knew about that loop trick. That is SO much easier than trying to tie a knot in black thread, which I can barely see. ❤
I'm here because i just a huge argument with my mom. i asked her to fix my jeans and she being the feminazi she is would literally not do it without bowing down to the female gender as a whole. in the name of real equality i would not, and so i naturally left in a huff dropping such insights as "this is why feminsim is a joke!" and now im sitting in my room embarking on a quest for gender equal knowledge.
lorcan conroy After watching this I went to the store looking for needles and thread and a lady there started talking to me and she was all happy and excited that a guy was in the arts and crafts isle lol. She was really surprised to hear that I was sowing. She said I made her day haha.
This really assisted me well for my first time sewing. I sewed my boyfriend's work pants as a surprise so he would not have to buy a new pair. Awesome. Again, thank you and God bless you.
Thank you so much!! I've watched other videos on how to sew with a needle and thread and they're all so long or overly complicated in the explanations. You were wonderful and got right to the point on everything!! Thanks Pat!
Thank you so much. This technique is easy to follow, and before this, the thought of sewing brought unsettling feelings, but I did it! Keep up the great work!
This video saved me & my travel bag! First time out-of-country and of course my bag gets a nice 2-inch rip. Luckily the hotel provided a small thread & needle kit. DIY and a little sketchy but it should at least last until I'm home. Thank you!
Great vid, you helped me sew the zipper of my tank bag back into place. Also allowed me to fix a wandering zip link which caused the unraveling zipper on the first place. It closes and opens as smooth now as the day I got it, and I've never sewed in my life before. Thank you.
Never realised without my mother being close to me I would actually need to learn how to needle! Thanks madam for a very simple instruction. Gonna fix my pant and a tshirt now 😂
THANK GOODNESS YOU MADE A VIDEO FOR THIS TYPES OF STUFF! I have never sewed in my life, my parents didn't teach me so i wanted to do it myself, and thank goodness you made this video or else i couldn't have sewed my favorite/lucky shirt (it had more than 5 holes in it) ANYWAYS THANK YOU 🙏🙏
Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial! :) I used your method to repair my leather bag (the strap on one side completely tore off). It took about two hours of my time and left me with sore/cramped fingers however I was able to repair my purse! So glad that I learned something new without spending any money! :D Also to anyone potentially repairing their leather purse like me, make sure you pull hard to make sure the stitch is tight (otherwise it will be too loose and will break again) and use a small pair of pliers to pull the needle through, it will save your fingers a lot of agony. You will have to go back and forth along the line where the strap should be sewn into (it took me about four passes).
Hi ma’am!! Thank you so much for this. My mom lives very far away and I needed to fix my daughters favorite stuffed animal. This was a life saver, and saved me a bunch of tears! Have a wonderful day 😁
Thank you SOOO very much. The tutorial was extremely simple and fast, and was very easy to understand. I’ve always been sewing incorrectly, and thanks to you, I now know how to do it properly :) Once again, thank you for your help.
Hey thanks a lot, all the video's are talking about "Take one end of this and tie a knot on that" and this one is so simple and easy! It helped me make a Scalemate plushie for my friend :D

Yeah, being a feminist truly means that you are proud of your gender. Not that you get triggered by every little thing and blame it on men.
