"Watching a live battle, between a man who wants to be a god and a man who wants to take down a god," again, Dre put it the best way🔥 Aside from the fact that Death Note is one of my favorites, the other reason why I'm sure I'll enjoy your reactions to this is the way how the geniuses blow your mind -- just like how I enjoy seeing you getting mind blown by Erwin and Armin in AoT.
Just started watching but noticed the "what's cram school?" comment. That's an extra school that most high school students in Japan go to at night to study more after their classes during the day. That's just part of their culture. This episode is one of my favorite of the entire series just for that exchange at the end. It continues to be amazing, but that first move by L is just an absolute masterclass.
The only issue with the idea that L was faking his death is that L does not know how Kira kills or that Kira would even try to kill him (not to mention when) so he could not fake his death on live TV other than with a stand in that actually got killed.
@@mutanthybrid3466 no it indicated that he had never shown his face before. and he never ended up showing it to the world throughout the entire show. Why would he use himself ? makes no sense.
@@mutanthybrid3466 I didn't get lost at all. L didn't know how Kira killed but he was testing what would happen if someone who's not a criminal (apparently to light at least) was to go against Light. He not only confirmed his theory that he can kill from a far (which he has solved 100% of his cases I'm sure he believes anything is possible even supernatural things) but only sees that Light is not as "just" as he believes and that he is childish. Just like the show gave some plot amor to light with the notebook, there's some plot armour with L as well i.e believing in supernatural things and never rejecting the fact that those people are in fact getting killed by a supernatural way.
I always love how Ryuk says all the shinigami in the Shinigami Realm make fun of people who write in their Note too much saying they are working so hard in episode 1 and then as soon as Light is writing a lot in THIS episode he says the same shit 😂😂
Daaaa!! Why aren't you guys watching it in Japanese!! Nooo. It's a major disservice to the show. I recommend watching any foreign film or show in its original language. There's already enough disconnect with subtitles, you want to minimize that the best you can! You need to be able to feel the true emotion that coming from the characters, it is very important.
The dub is more than sufficient enough for Death Note and actually easier to follow psychologically and emotionally for English speakers and especially anime noobs. There's less time to read and possibly miss parts of the plot with a non action anime like this. Also, the most hardcore fans agree that Brad Swaile's performance is *phenomenal* in the dub. It's more than good enough.
While I normally agree that many anime shows benefit from watching the japanese version, Death Note's dub is actually one of the more solid ones and pretty enjoyable.

I was surprised to hear the dub, but I'm not disappointed. It's a pretty good dub.
One of the best dubs
honestly better than the sub in the most important scenes. I find that kiras laugh in episode 37 is a little better in sub though.
@@yahir_mareuxdefinitely better
@@yahir_mareuxMiyano Mamuro ´s laugh is ICONIC
@@yahir_mareuxthe best scene that it beats the sub is the potato chip scene

It's a private school which is preparatory, let's say, for the University Entrance Exam.

This anime is considered a cult classic for a reason.
Light is one twisted evil mastermind.
The “only in Japan” tip had me on the floor 1st watch
Rigging your desk to burn your diary. Normal teenage boy things according to Light Yagami.
It would cultivate a certain reaction if you ever witnessed it exploding. Like, "Dude, just how many children do you have buried in the floor boards?"
Normal teenage boy behavior is coming up with a code language and writing the diary in that code that only you know. That's lway less risky.
Bruh, yall in for a rough one.... this shit is so good!! 🔥 Soundtrack is amazing....

that was a test to understand lights character. L did not know he was gonna get killed.
@@Hdhshshs-el2h The fact that L used a stand-in inmate on death row at all indicated he was concerned about being killed in the first place.
