    That bit has now been upgraded from Skipton Park to Gargrave so no longer grass and rutted.

    4:14 Perfect example of pedestrians missing a few brain cells. Single file? No let’s split and make it even more difficult to pass each other safely. 🤦🏼‍♂️

    Loved watching that, this section is the most scenic on the 127 mile route.

    Great canal ride, I’ve cycled it twice and both times completed the full canal, Leeds to Liverpool in one day

    wow! what do they do with all those barges? Are they a tourist thing, or do they have some other purpose?
    Love the music, BTW.

      Just a tourist boat now. There a huge network of canals criss crossing the country. The narrowboats used to transport goods in the 18/19th Century but just people out touring.

    Are you allowed to bike on canals like this?

    • @georgemackley5432
      @georgemackley5432  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you are. They are bridle paths. This path has been renovated since I filmed this so the path is much better for cycles. If you bike is a motobike I am not sure

      @@georgemackley5432 Thank you I am looking to try bike along here as a newbie cyclist for the first time soon.

    Good bit of riding. Their is quite a few different surfaces surfaces along the canal. What tyres would you recommend for a Hybrid.

    • @georgemackley5432
      @georgemackley5432  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris I would recommend a mountain bike as the path can be quite bumpy. Thank you

    You see the ruts in the path? That's caused by cyclists.

    • @davegb99
      @davegb99 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not only cyclists but lots of walkers and before that the barge ponies. Horses of course are no longer allowed on there.

    • @billythedog-309
      @billythedog-309 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davegb99 These paths have been relaid several times since the last barge ponies were used on canals. Walkers don't make narrow ruts that lead to water filled holes - they are caused by cyclists.

    • @davegb99
      @davegb99 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Billy the dog - You want to try walking in the Dales and Lake District on paths where cyclists don’t use and then say that walkers don’t make ruts like that. They have had to lay hardcore and flags on parts of the three peaks and other well used paths. I agree that bikes do add to the wear but not entirely responsible for it.

      @@davegb99 Perhaps l shouldn't have originally stated that walkers never, ever wear out a footpath ever.
