One of my favourite videos from you to date! I LOVE seeing family heirlooms and special pieces as jewellery has always been how I connected with my mother, grandmother and aunts (I’m south Asian). LOVED this video. I truly feel the pieces you have from your mum and yiayia and the traditional Greek pieces are nicer than any of the modern pieces from the brands mentioned. My favourite are those ruby earrings from your yiayia, the nameplate bracelet and your yiayia’s ring!
That's so beautiful! A very common gift to give in Greek culture too (explains why I have so much real gold jewellery from my childhood). The inherited pieces definitely feel a lot more unique, and the fact that they tell a story, well, that just makes then inherently special! I really need to clean my Yiayia's earrings so I can start wearing them .She used to wear those ruby earrings EVERY day; especially as she got older I'd always adjust them for her so they looked perfect in her ears. Little things
Thank you! Feel very lucky to be able to draw on all these pieces to adorn myself daily - also so special to have those little memories of my mum and my yiayia with me too ❤️
You've got a great collection! Do you wear your inherited pieces much? I've inherited some from my mom and grandmother and besides one ring that will be my wedding ring, everything else seems to stay safely tucked away. 😅
I think like with clothing, I often tend to find myself either gravitating to the thing that is my favourite, or whatever is a little newer. I do occasionally wearing some of my mum and Yiaya's jewellery, but not as much (I've been wearing my yiayias engagement ring a little recently). I think part of that has to do with the fact that I've separated it from my daily jewellery rotation? I also still need to clean my yiayias earrings before I can start wearing them. I keep forgetting!
