This man, J. Blanche, K. Kopinski and A. Smith have been my favorite Warhammer artists of all time. They are so good with their own style in capturing that Warhammer grit.

The old B&W illustrations were so good, the new digital art can't hold a candle to it. I have such strong memories of poring over the codexes as a kid back then, picking out the details in those pictures

The GOAT for me - the 7th edition High Elf army book cover art is my favourite GW has produced.

That’ll be featured in the part 2 video.

I just want to say thanks to Paul, so I hope he reads these comments.
Warhammer art inspired me to start drawing and painting back in the 90s, Paul’s art above all of the rest. When I’m stuck during a painting, I still ask myself ‘What would Paul do?’ haha. Either Paul or Craig Mullins, depending on what I’m trying to do.
I’ve been a fulltime artist for 8 years and this past year I started working with GW, doing Black Library covers. It’s a dream come true, and I think Paul’s art was what got me here. I’m really grateful Paul!
Also, make a freakin timelapse! I’d burn the galaxy to see a painting, start to finish.

That Ultramarines artwork is for me possibly the best Warhammer artwork ever made, and yet Paul is so humble about it, what a great guy.

One of the greatest. And that first piece is the greatest 40k artwork in my opinion.

Amazing to hear from Dainton himself! I've been drooling over his art since I first found warhammer. Paul, you are my biggest inspiration!!

Nice to see an interview with him as he seems to be less present online than some of the other artists from this era of GW (although he posts a lot of neat stuff on Instagram). Thanks for recording this!

This is fantastic, thank you so much for taking the time to put it together. There were two work-in-progress images of Paul's artwork for the Dwarf army book featured in White Dwarf around the time of the releases that are well worth a look at. They're a pencil sketch in WD250 (Nov 2000) and one after some of the inks had been applied in WD251 (Dec 2000) - that second one has a really strong blue tint to some of the background. I love that range of miniatures and have been putting together some videos looking at the history/release of each of the sculpts over the past year on my channel as I try to finish off a full collection of the 6th ed metal sculpts :)

Sadly Kopinski and Gallagher have declined, but I drop them a message every now and then to check in. I’m travelling up to Edinburgh soon to go film with Smith though!

@@Filmdegminiatures Along with Paul Dainton's, I fondly remember the works of Alex Boyd. I would be mighty interested in hearing from him, if he hasn't also declined?
Your videos are a goldmine, love what you're doing!

The black and white version is better of the marines. This guy's style is a standout in the books.

Tom if I could offer a piece of constructive feedback- the more recent videos are increasingly interview format rather than monologue with occasional prompts, but you do have a tendency to interrupt and talk over the guests at times, either with affirmations or to express your own thoughts- maybe something to be aware of!
