- What started as an elective double-bass course turned into a lifelong jazz journey. Gerald Cannon left college to chase his passion at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, eventually playing alongside some of the greatest jazz legends.
At 28, he made the leap to New York City, performing at the iconic Blue Note Jazz Club with Winard and Philip Harper and Justin Robinson. From there, he shared the stage with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Dexter Gordon, Cedar Walton Trio with Billy Higgins, Jimmy Smith, Jimmy Scott, James Williams, and many more.
His career took off when trumpeter Roy Hargrove saw him perform-leading to seven years of touring the world’s top jazz festivals, from Montreux to Cape Town.
