It even has an aperture ring! As for 2.8. I think 2 is fine for APS-C, and 2.8 is fine for full frame. I’d argue you veeeeery rarely need more. Agree with portraits. This is why I think the Fuji 90mm f2 is popular. You get the entire face in focus).
It would be nice if you could compare Sony 85mm F1.8 and Sigma 90mm F2.8 photos side by side, I can't visually "see" how much better when you are praising Sigma lens.

Did you ever compare the Sigma 90mm f/2.8 DG DN C to the Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 ? I know the Batis is more expensive and larger but was wondering. Thank you for your video. Thank you and take care.
Sigma 90mm F2.8 is not enough sharp at F2.8. But it's sharper at F4. But still not like Sony 85mm F1.4. Sharpness of Sigma 90mm F2.8 is exact same as Sony 90mm F2.8 Macro. Sharpness of Sony 85mm F1.4 is just perfect 8-) I don't have Sony 85mm F1.8 :(
F2,8 is not only more than enough light wise but always smaller, cheaper and better quality wide open. The crayzyness of extremely wide opening lens is complete fluff and BS for a photographer. Same with "bokeh" which only means "blur" and "star sun" rays. I also LOL when I see videos of guys telling you "oh the lens has no caracter" when it has no flaws, I mean when it is sharp corner to corner, without flare, no vignetting and no coma, the "fashion" of old not perfect lenses is also getting crazy among morons !

been agonizing over what ones of these sigma contemporary lenses to get for like a month. thought i was set on the 65mm f/2 but this review got me wondering if i need the 90 instead xD
I have the 20mm, 35mm and 65mm f2 primes in the I-Series. All of them are great, love the build quality. Notably the 20mm has pretty heavy vignetting, but it's actually sharper in the corners than the Sony 20mm 1.8
@@anthonystonehouse I have the 35mm i series and can highly recommend it as well! I recently bought the 35mm 1.4GM - sharpness is phenomenal. However... I can't sell the Sigma because I love it so much! I still use it more than the GM for general out and about shooting - it is so easy, portable and feels so good to handle. Sharpness is more than good enough with these lenses.

The sigma on a7c is superb

I agree, I have the 20mm and 65mm and been tempted to replace my Sony 35mm GM with the Sigma 35mm as love using the i series.
