I agree with this song being more of Red Velvet-like than AESPA but then I also see AESPA musically here because they've done softer/christmassy vibes before (Forever, Dreams Come True, Life's Too Short)

I love seeing RV and aespa together! This is pure CHRISTMAS style, and both groups did a great job at fitting the brief. I do think Red Velvet has had more opportunity to do cutesy concepts in the past, but I don't think that places the style of this song in Red Velvet's category really because it's still not anything really like a Red Velvet song either, just a Christmas BOP. haha :D I think there is nothing in here like an aespa style rap, and so therefore the "rap" parts here (more like cute spoken lines) are more similar to things RV has done, but I also just think that's down to the Christmas jazz/musical vibe.
Yeah I feel like this song is leaning towards RV's style but with a sprinkle of magic from aespa

Each member (they're 4) released a solo song, which storyline leds to the debut song.

They're talented, they can SING SING, the rapper can definitely rap the dance is top tier and the stage presence is just overwhelming (+ they're hot af).
Each of them was a trainee from the big companies: yg (julie), sm (belle), jyp (natty) and people say that haneul was a hybe trainee.

I dont blame the aespa girls not feeling invested in that joint, if my company was constantly using my own popularity to (back then) only promote the company branding and other groups through whack tracks that dont fit in their worldview I'd do the same... the red velvet girls also never had their back prior to that and I know Irene was power tripping them back when they were trainees so even those awkward smiles were probably hard to put on
Red Velvet's concept masters. Of Course they are gonna fit cute or girl crush, whatever concept thrown on them. There was absolutely no need to infer all sorts of malicious meanings from this collaboration. aespa is a girlcrush focused girl group from SM. It's no surprise that Red Velvet does cute concepts better. Not every group fits to cute concept. In my opinion, soft and cute concepts suit Winter and Ningning voice. I personally think that Red Velvet has always been superior girl group
