    I've been buying my wool dreads and I'm gonna try making my own next month, I plan to add a little bit of my bunnies fur so I have a white patch on one or two dreads, I think it'll be really cute and one of my bunnies is a lionhead so his fur should work well and after a good brush I should have plenty😅

    • @dreadshop

      You might have overworked them. They'll become less stiff when you wear them.

    how mutch grams of wool do you need for getting like around as dreads as you have ? and will it get damaged fast? :3

    • @dreadshop
      @dreadshop  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Sofie, how much you need totally depends on the thickness and length of the dreads and how much you want to install. In this video we used around 500 grams of wool. If you roll them tight they won't get damaged fast, but if they do, you can easily roll them over to fix them :)
      Good luck!

    Couple questions, hope you don't mind:) 1. how long can you keep wool dreads in your hair? 2. Can you wash your hair while the dreads are in? 3. Are they reusable?

    • @dreadshop
      @dreadshop  6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      No problem! We recommend keeping in wool dreads or synthetic dreads for 2 or 3 months. Yes you can wash your hair while wearing dreads, you can use a Spray Shampoo we sell on our website, or use your own shampoo diluted with water in a spray bottle. You can just spray it on your wet scalp and dreads, leave it in a couple minutes and rinse out. Don't wash too often, once a week or less is fine. Make sure you let the dreads dry in a bun on top of your head with a towel wrapped around, so the weight will not cause the dreads to sag. :)

    Can you tell me how to make the wavy wool dreadlocks that are so in right now?

    • @voightkampff7936
      @voightkampff7936 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a couple methods: felt them less they WILL "wiggle" "wave" on their own. But dreads not felted firmly WILL start to felt together. They fall apart easier, not able to wear as many times.
      The better method, I think, is to felt the heck out of them. Them braid 10 or more together, sink them into hot water, then shock the fibres into "staying" by sinking them into freezing cold water. Leave them braided to dry for at least two days. Then I unbraid them to dry the rest of the way. Voila: wavy/wiggly dreads.

      For sure wool dreads are easier! I did dreadlock extensions with fake hair for 14 years. The last 4 of those years I started doing wool. So much easier on my body. And waaaaaaay less messy! Fake hair gets EVERYWHERE! I find little pieces and single long strands everywhere all over my house from fake hair. With wool felting you might get soap everywhere. Heh.

    Hello,
    I really like all your video's and i have got a question.
    If you want to make the dreads with kanekalon hair, can you use the same technique as with dreads of wool or is it with kanekalon a different technique?
    Did you have a video how to make a dread with kanekalon hair / synthetic hair?

      Hi Jes, when you make dreads with Kanekalon hair you need to use another technique. It's completely different. We'll have video's about different techniques for this in a couple of months. We're working on it :)

    • @WitchyNectar

      I think this is probably just because it is more natural and has a decent smell, as wool dreads can smell like wet dog. I make wool dreads and nen I've always used olive soap. :O.

    • @dreadshop
      @dreadshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oef, never had that issue. Are you rolling the dreads with a mat between it? If not, I suggest to rol them with a mat. Or otherwise use an extra towel under that mat. Good luck!

    • @rivitraven
      @rivitraven 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could try wearing gloves made of leather(synthetic leather works too) but the fabric needs to be thick, so it won't roll with the dread.

      Elora Schrader it is, but it takes a LOT of time. I’m currently making some sharpie thick wool dreads at home right now and I’ve had to let them dry and roll them each about three times because they weren’t felted enough and I was still able to separate them.

    • @jewelmartin5406
      @jewelmartin5406 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Elora Schrader if you roll them tight enough and hard enough, yes, but it’s not a heavy denseness, if that makes any sense. It gets ever so slightly heavier, barely noticeable
