Which Huawei do you choose? Mate 20 Pro brings a lot of value right now but the P30 Pro has the best zoom on a smartphone. P.S. really appreciate your time watching videos like this one. Comparisons are like 2 phone reviews in one video and they take a lot of time to make!

Actually the tricky decision should be Mate 20 Pro vs P30 because they are similar in price now. P30 Pro is much more expensive, so it's not really that hard to choose.

bought mate 20 pro six days ago from Amazon! Loved it so far and worth every penny of 470 dollars.

I had the mate 20 pro. And i choose the mate 20 pro because of her amazing Oled display..the resolution of mate 20 pro is higher than the p30 pro, watching videos is amazingly very lively color display, stereo sound, camera is morethan enough for my photography hubbies, vlogging and selfie..its almost perfect device for my daily activities.

Loud Speaker comparison was very useful. However would have liked more detailed comparison of the screen. If M20pro QHD makes no noticeable difference due to high quality FHD screen of the P30 pro, than it is a obvious battery win for p30 pro. But if the QHD is noticeably sharper than making a decision requires more thought.
I'm using a note 9 and have been using the note series from the note 2. The P30 Pro has caught my eye and got my cousin to buy one after his s9+ broke. I'm keeping and eye on Huawei phones as a future alternative, as long as they keep the IR Blaster. I still keep my note edge on hand just for the IR Blaster, if Samsung brings back the ir blaster I may never switch phones but Huawei have definitely got my attention. I have just discovered the matebook x because of the p30 pro and it might be my next laptop.

I'm glad you also pointed out the difference in sound quality as a lot of people have complained about the lack of dual stereo speakers and writing the phone off immediately. Great comparison video! I pre ordered the P30 pro, mainly because of the camera and because it has more internal storage which is extremely important to me as the phones dont accept micro sd cards. If the mate 20 pro had more internal storage I probably would have gone with that one a few months ago
You can expand the Mate 20 with a Nano Memory card.

@@avasd59 It's not that big of a deal once you make the switch. And the nano memory stays inside the phone anyway.. And only goes out when you switch phones. 😶
@@jannisdavidzwahlen it's a big deal to me because if I do decide to switch to another brand in two years I can't use that nano card anymore. Just like how I can't use my micro sd card now. Too much data and too much of a hassle to continue switching

Great comparison Linus!! People wanted this since lots of them are using Mate 20 Pro and naturally everyone wants to know the camera comparison between these 2. However, I think Mate 30 Pro will have 10X Zoom at best not 50X since Huawei is likely to retain their P series for absolute photography needs. And Mate 30 Pro will have better chipset of course. So anyone using Mate 20 Pro may not upgrade to P30 Pro. Basic photo quality like daylight shots, night mode shots without zoom is more or less same on both the devices. But to be honest I hate curved screen on both the devices. It's quite annoying for everyday use. Probably i am gonna buy a Mate 20X due to flat large screen, same camera as Mate 20 Pro, beastly battery.
I don't think I agree with you there. The P series is usually the one that brings refinement to the mate series phone that is released 6 months before. Therefore I will not be surprised to see an even better camera on the mate 30 pro (or at least one that is equal to the p30 pro) with a better chipset and with 5G support.

I'm wondering how the battery is holding up with the huge 40 watt charging brick? Many are claiming these new 50 watt and 65 watt chargers are going to kill batteries within a year. This was one of the first phones with extremely fast charging that I remember. 🤔

love my p30pro, it has replaced a nova 3i. (2i before that and a y6 elite first)
The zoom camera is great for me, as i can get peoples car rego plate numbers from 200m+ (job use), and the not needing a flash for many shots in dark, is magic.
Do find finger print recognition is much slower as one dislike. Frustrating that only nano sd cards fit it too, (but got a 128g one anyway).
Like it as a phone, and replaces carrying a laptop for my use, plus like the quick wireless charging. The Free watch with my pre-order, is ok too.
Do not like that on 4k video, they are limited to 10 minutes, however found an app (zoom camera) which allows continuous runs, but splits files into 4g segments. (also like that the app has a lock screen function so you do not accidentally turn recording off, but app does crash at times, requiring defaulting settings to recover).
Really do wish there was an option with videos, to rotate image/playback, it is often not convenient to hold a phone horizontal while recording.
P30 Pro has longer battery life with lower resolution(FHD+), would Mate 20 Pro have as long battery life as the P30 Pro when lowering its settings to FHD+ as well? GSMarena says 100h for P30 Pro and 85h for Mate 20 Pro. What is your opinion about this?

@@vantagepoint88 better resolution display, not huge differences camera experience, same processor, same battery capacity and 40w charge. 200 dollars cheaper. One thing that I like from mate 20 pro is the 3d face unlock, I didn't like underdisplay tho.

Great video I don't have either Phone love huawei phones. Had few of them in the passed. Shopping for new phone as we speak getting the p30 pro. IMO you can't tell with the naked eye quad display vs FHD 1080p both look amazing!!! And Huawei phone are packed I mean packed with features and goodies!!!! More then any other phone. I own Mate 20 pro and I bought P30 for my dad.
P30 for the camera, headphone jack, better fingerprint reader, smaller notch
Mate 20 pro for the 2k screen, reverse wireless & wireless charging, 3d scan, waterproof, IR blaster, stereo speakers, notification led.
I think lots of of mate 20 pro features are gimmicky and not very useful on regular day to day. Also Mate 20 pro does not have better battery, they both have same battery life(6-7 hours sot) and same charging speed(0 to 100% about 1 hour 10 min).
The most simple and important factor is the size of both phones. Do you like smaller phone or bigger phone? Don't overthinking it, both are good phones.
Mate the best. The Stereo Speaker very good and i will don´t miss the 3d Facescanner with very fast unlock. The Camera is great and naturally Color without P30P. The Mate 20 pro has an infrared and the best Screen. The 50x zoom is just gimmick and no variable zoom. Since the 3x and 5x hybrid zoom is already more practical. I do not like the colors with the yellow pixels anymore with the p30p. That still needs to be developed further. Here is the customer first beta tester.

I was curious on how the Mate lives up to the P30 Pro. I'm set on the P30 Pro cause I nerd out over camera features. I've owned two original Honor 8's because they're so good for the price. First being sapphire other white. Both destroyed by water damage. I'm out doors a lot (kayak, camping, boating, etc) trying to shoot photos/videos so it's good to hear these have some water resistance!

Both use same cpu and gpu as the mate 20 pro but it uses 1080p FHD+ screen and has 4 cams,, this is basically an upgrade from the 20 Pro (not mate 20 pro witch a lot of reviewers keep comparing to) it be interesting if they be releasing a mate 30 Pro as my next phones are going to be 1440p+ screen phones
I have a Huawei P10 plus it's no-brainer to upgrade to the Mate 20 pro, same resolution which I became so use to. P30 pro is also nice tho but not worth the extra bucks.

Well you can't fully fix them, but what I did is to show the navigation bar and don't use the gesture control. It's a bit better. My guess it's a problem with full screen and long ratio phones like this. Hope this helps in some way.

I have a Mate 10 Pro, I bought a Mate 20 Pro, but I didn't like the curvature of its screen, and I sold it again. The Mate 10 is great.

Mate 20 pro has the better camera over the regular P30 imo. That's why he is comparing these two pros as they are much more comparable to each other.
