- Join me for a complete in-depth walk-around and 3 month ownership review of my 2020 Dodge Durango R/T Blacktop. Having purchased the vehicle back in March as a track day supply hauler it has lived up to its purpose flawlessly. We have put just under 2000 miles on this car and have absolutely fallen in love with not only the utility of it, but also its styling and daily comfort and convenience. Let us know in the comments below if you have any questions regarding the Dodge Durango and I will do my best to answer them. Thank you for the support!

Gotta say I Watched this review a few times and couldn’t wait till September to get me one. Went out and picked up one with the Blacktop package in Destroyer grey. Only drove it home from their dealership but I’m absolutely in love. Doesn’t feel like your driving a huge 7100 lbs suv. Ride is smooth, power is great, couldn’t be happier. Thank you.
That is awesome to hear! Congrats on the new car and a excellent color choice you got! Enjoy it, glad I was able to help!
That’s because it doesn’t weigh 7100 lbs not even close
@@r.cic1596 maybe he's hauling a boat with it
I’ve had mine about a. Month but I love it.
Very honest review. I picked up a used 2019 RT AWD in Destroyer Grey after trading in my challenger T/A. I will say it rides smoother, and has more than enough power for daily/yearly driving. I’m appreciating the practicality already and the SRT styling cues. Would like an SRT model but for daily, I hear gas is awful and I’m not looking to dish out that kind of money on a car! Either way, I love this thing👍🏼
Thanks for the kind words. Yea I do love the RT Durango the ride in it and practically it just amazing.
I just got my 2020 RT Durango Friday Destroyer Gray I’m in love with this vehicle
Awesome to hear! Enjoy it!
Bryan Goode I got the same color combo. Love it, love it love it!
Same here. Got it 3 weeks ago 💪👍
Got mine two days ago and love it love it love it
Dope review. I didn’t know the Durango had some of those features...love the exhaust too!
Thanks man! Yea that Borla exhaust sounds damn good!
Picking one up this week or next. Thanks for the review! Super excited about it!
You’re welcome and congrats!
@@SauerHorsepower I do have a question. When you remote start your Durango in the winter does it automatically defrost the Front and rear windshield?
Yes I believe it does.
@@SauerHorsepower I got my Rt. Thank you for answering all of my questions ! Love it so far !
Just got my Knuckle White RT two days ago! I am so in love!❤️❤️
Awesome and Congrats! Enjoy it, I know I enjoy mine!
Sauer Horsepower I learned from your video about the brights! That’s so cool. I will have to play with that or turn them on and I learned about the sport mode in your demo! That is super cool you did that as well! Thanks again!
Heather Klatt glad I was able to help!
Good review. Watched the whole video, one of the best things I liked that you described was how the car knows if there’s a car coming and you have your high beams on and switches to low beams automatically. Then turns it back on when you pass the car. So freakin cool. Beet Durango review. Good job 👏🏽
Thank you! Yea, the Durango is an awesome vehicle.
JUST GOT ONE LAST WEEK THE 2019 MODEL WITH ONLY 6,000 MILES JUST ONE WORD AWESOME. ALREADY ORDER (K & N PERFORMANCE AIR INTAKE & THE BORLA S-Type exhaust )can't wait to hear the difference when everything installed.
Awesome, glad you are enjoying it! It will sound mean with both the intake and exhaust!
Great review... love Durango debating getting it in March.
Thank you! If you do get one, I am sure you will love it!
Very helpful review! Thanks! And I enjoyed the scenery-It's beautiful there!
Absolutely! Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching.
Double like for being from MD and for the awesome fleet of vehicles!👍👍
Thank you 🙏🏻
Great review, do you believe the 4k option Tow N Go package is worth it? Or just get the regular tow package they offer. We plan to tow the redeye every once in a while not much.
Thank you. For me personally I would absolutely get the tow n go package, i think it provides good value for the money spent.
In my opinion, the Tow-N-Go package is definitely worth it.
@Dmetsys incorrect, the Tow N Go package as ALWAYS included everything the SRT has except the engine. The Tow N Go package has only been for model years 2021 and 2022 so far. Anything before 2021 is just a Tow package.
The Tow N Go package is more than just a hitch receiver, trailer brake controller, and brakes. If you bought the Tow N Go package items separately, you cannot do it for less than $5K, which is the cost of the package.
Also, if you buy without the tow package, but want to add it later, don't forget to add the transmission cooler and probably an engine oil cooler.
Delighted Thanks

The SUV that DID FINALLY GET ME. AT LAST.
22 years later.
Is it AWD?
When you see the md license plate and notices he has all Mopar cars 💯🥰 it made my day I love mopar cars
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Sauer Horsepower wow! That was quick I’m definitely subscribing I’m going to be your 400th subscriber!!! yay
Natori thank you so much 🙏🏻 hope you enjoy the content going forward!
You still have her ??? And your in Maryland I’m in Delaware bro she’s badassss this my dream car
might be a dumb question man but is the warranty voided after your exhaust mod?
I am looking at buying one used but I’m not sure about the price? I see a lot of people commenting that they bought one about a year ago, how much did you guys pay? Msrp? Or over msrp?
Can you tell me if this has apple car play? And if it is wireless? Thank you
My next buy when I get rid of my 392 scat 💯✊🏿 good review!
Thank you! You are gonna love the Durango!
Thanks for the review! Why you didn't get the Premium Interior Group?
Honestly, I wanted the premium interior instead of the sunroof but this is one that they already had on the lot. So we took this one instead.
I have a 2020 GT and it is incredibly smooth. The Shifts are very precise as well. I know they wont but they could honestly just get rid of the Paddle Shifters, theres no way a human can be as accurate as the computer is.
I find the paddles more useful for towing rather than performance driving. The ability to downshift the car manually to engine brake while towing helps a lot.
In my opinion keep the paddle shifters just make them bigger /bolder what they have on them now alittle cheesy ...fun to use shifters
Bet you didn't know that the passenger seat can lay all the way forward flat so the storge gets even longer. I use this alot to carry long stuff like 2 x 4
You are correct, I didn’t know... but now I do! Thanks for the comment!
Thanks didn't know that
I didn't know that or even think it would fold flat. Thanks for the tip!
I don’t see the Beats stereo sound system. Does this model not have it like my 2018 model?
For 2020 the upgraded speakers were Harmon/Kardon. This particular Durango did not have that option.
I test drove this car today but man that inside looks like ten years ago. love the outside though..
Yea they are a bit dated, 2021 models have a whole new refresh on the interior and some updated exterior.
@@SauerHorsepower man i cannot wait to get me one! Do you think pricing will stay the same?
Yea it should be roughly the same
Nice video, great sound with the Borla exhaunt. I’m in MD too, can I ask what you paid for the RT version?
We leased it for about 570/month.
Sauer Horsepower Nice deal. 570 a month for that fun towing machine. You got some nice wheels, keep up the good videos.
Thank you very much 👍🏻
can you get a red key on the durango?
If you buy a Hellcat Durango!
Thanks for this review. I was thinking about getting this or the gt. The rt seems the best way to go power wise.
Absolutely, the RT is sufficient power and the V6 feels a bit sluggish.
Great review...almost convinced to go for this machine...how's the reliability? Don't wanna run to mechanic every week after the warranty runs out...also what's your opinion on the FB Green exterior with white stripes? Does FB green color age well?
Thank you! We have had the Durango for 7 months now and have no issues at all. I can’t speak for everyone obviously, but they have been in production for a while so most, if not all, of the kinks should be worked out by now.
Will you ever make a 2021 one?
I have a few videos out already on the 2021 Durango, still looking to get my hands on more of the trim levels though.
Cool shirt! R.I.P. EVH
RIP
Is that your power wagon, I’m considering getting one. But also want the RT
It is my brother's Power Wagon and that is a fantastic vehicle as well!
i am interested on the Durango RT
Great review makes we want to go get one. Lol.
😂😂
Is that your Ram too?
In this video it was my brother's truck.
@@SauerHorsepower oh okay.
Me and my wife are picking our 2020 Durango R/T tomorrow. It looks exactly like yours. Same options too.
Do you plan to get a tuner for it?
Also, do you know if there is a improvement to deleting the cats?
Congrats on the new car! As far as tuning goes, I don’t think I will tune this because we just have it as a lease right now. When it comes to deleting the cats there will always be an improvement in power by doing that but those DO require a tune.
Love all your cars I own a durango rt 2018 love it wouldn't trade for anything
Thank you! Yea the Durango is quickly becoming one of my favorite cars.
Nice collection of cars. What do you do for a living, man?))
Great review. I’m hoping to pick one up in the next month or so. Are the ventilated seats standard on the R/T?
They come with the full leather seats. So if it has the leather/suede they won’t be ventilated.
I'm in the market for a new car since my 2013 Dodge Charger. And I'm debating between the Charger, Challenger or Durango next. The Durango looks comfortable but I don't haul things or many people almost ever anymore. Do you have any thoughts on what I should get for my next daily driver?
If you don’t plan on hauling anything, Charger for sure
Get a 2019 mustang gt. I miss mine but had to trade it in for a Durango because priorities 😆
Love my 2020
The only thing I wish it came stock with is led interior lights and reverse lights . I had to go after market . And I agree definitely gotta switch out exhaust to get a more mean sound. Delete Muffler is not an option for me other than that great truck fun to drive
LED lights might be something I look into doing next...
So that’s what the eco button does. I was not sure why a V8 would have an eco mode.
Yup it’s kinda silly, but a lot of cars are coming with similar features now a days
Great review!!
Did you tow the charger as of yet with it?
Not the Charger, but I have a few videos on my channel of towing my Hellcat Challenger!
Holy Mopar, Batman! A Ram, a Durango, a Challenger and a Charger? WTF do you do for work?! Getting my wife a Durango R/T soon! I have a Challenger R/T and a 300 AWD already. Replacing her rusted out Dakota and GM minivan (inherited from mom).
Yea I do enjoy my Mopars! With the Durango addition you will have a nice lineup yourself!
@@SauerHorsepower I got a headhunter and they got me a 2020 R/T in destroyer gray! Should be taking delivery next week.
Good looking vehicle. That exhaust though 👌
Gotta get you one 😉
Does the mirror power fold when you parked? Thanks.
They do not power fold, just tilt while in reverse.
Sauer Horsepower thank you
no problem!
At the fourteen minute mark, you say you wish the Durango was faster. There's good news. Your Durango R/T IS faster. From the factory, it comes with Bridgestone all season radials. Those tires have a speed rating of 118 MPH. For liability reasons, Dodge programs the propulsion control module to prevent the R/T from exceeding 118. But the engine is drawing only about 250 brake HP at that speed despite being capable of producing 360 BHP.
Is there a way you can use the remaining horsepower?
Yes! Especially if you have the factory tow package which gives you the beefier engine cooler, oil cooler and transmission cooler.
The STOCK 5.7 Hemi Durango is quite capable of a top speed of 145 MPH. That's close to the SRT's top speed of 155 MPH.
What's the secret?
All you have to do is buy faster tires. This is not a joke. Go to the dealer and show them you have V-rated tires mounted and they will "unlock" the limiter, allowing you to go as fast as you want. But they will not unlock the limiter unless you prove to them you have tires capable of running at 145 MPH.
There may be a nominal fee for them to reprogram the control unit. But the good news is that it's just a programming change rather than a hardware modification. It's quick. When you leave the dealer, your R/T will fly.
BTW - Starting in model year 2021, there is NO limiter on the R/T if you order the "tow and go" package that includes the Brembo brakes and the Pirelli Scorpion tires. R/Ts with that option can go 145 MPH right from the factory.
🤣🤣 to be fair I don’t think I would want to take a Durango to those speeds. In the video I guess I should’ve said that I wished it accelerated a bit quicker. The R/T is a good overall package and it’s just me being a bit greedy and spoiled by my other two cars 🤣
And of course if you want to go a lot quicker there is the SRT and now Hellcat options!
How has the fuel economy been?
Roughly 15-20mpg depending on the driving
Love it😄
Thank you!
I subscribed.
thank you!
I have one like it on I love it 🥰
I’ve never owned an American made car, to be honest never trusted the manufacturing. Honestly, how reliable are these trucks? Are they truly worth the money? I’m not even interested in anything beyond a v6… can you or anyone here speak to that?
Shit....and a Durango....3 cars bought in short span. Are you hiring??? 😆
HAHA not quite.
@@SauerHorsepower Lol! I’m a car enthusiast too. Nice to see others too.
60 in a 35? Best be careful. lol
