The AI was definitely improved. Try playing the Dutch extreme AI, it's probably the hardest of the bunch.

You need to consider that ai in aoe3 is inconsistent. During the 1st of 2 hardest ai games, I held of the ai for 30min despite various errors. During the 2nd game woth 0 errors I stood no chance and at 30min their score was 50,000 while mine was at 30000

@marcmontbleu5516 attack move is all selected units attack their closest enemy from their perspective. Micro is how fast you can give your units orders and commands. You can take it one step further by looking at macro witch is your ability to set up your bases and build up an army. In rts games the faster your micro and macro determines how effective you are as a player. as the faster you you are at building and gathering means the faster you can build An army

The music though is part of the gameplay. And it's not that intrusive, especially since he is not doing a voiceover. I find that it makes the game more fun to watch and ramps up the action.
