Try restourants like Caventers, Dekeling, Gleneries e.t.c .
Btw the Golden statue at the mall was of the most popular Nepali Poet

Thank You for that information. Then which language is spoken in Darjeeling? Is it Nepali language? Being an Indian very less knowledge we have about North East India. Sad on our part. Thanks to Nick and Noah and offcourse people like you who enrich our knowledge ❤

If you visit Sikkim, the most captivating areas to explore are East Sikkim and North Sikkim, with particular highlights being Lachen, Lachung, the breathtaking Valley of Flowers in Yumthang Valley, and Tsomgo Lake. These regions boast unparalleled beauty, making them some of the most remarkable destinations in all of India. To fully experience the wonders of Sikkim, it is highly recommended that you venture beyond Gangtok. Make sure to include these places, especially in North and East Sikkim, in your itinerary.

    • @sauravkumarchand9691
      @sauravkumarchand9691 ปีที่แล้ว +2

To travel beyond Singhik up the Lachung and Lachen Valleys in North Sikkim District in Sikkim State, foreigners/foreign nationals need Restricted-Area Permits (RAP). These permits then allow travel up to the Tsopta and Yumthang valleys. However, Indian citizens also need a permit but it is a simple police permit. Without permit pass, they won't be able to visit.

Glad to see you plan a walk to Ghoom. I’d like to think that you took our advise 😀
Noah, you’re looking dapper in that cap, as Nick said, it suits you.
Food wise, there’s no ‘Darjeeling cuisine’. It’s primarily a Nepali town with large number of settlers from the plains of Bengal and Bihar; and mountain-dwellers like Tibetans, Sikkimese, etc. Those are the local cuisines plus the ubiquitous desi-Chinese and pan-Indian stuff. Tibetan food is interesting…it uses buckwheat and barley as staples. The stews and soups are delicious. Try it. Also try some colonial english-era food (as suggested in my earlier post). After all, Darjeeling, like most of Indian ‘hill-stations’, is a British town.
If you are interested, visit some of the old abandoned cemeteries of the British. It’s extraordinary poignant. It’ll give you an appreciation of how devastating India was to the colonial population….entire families used to get wiped out within a year…and you see their stories through the tombstones. These are an extensions of churches in this part of the world, hence whenever you see some old church, look for the cemetery.
….and don’t forget sturdy walking sticks for your walk to ghoom tomorrow….👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Awesome scenic beauty of Darjeeling.😍😍 The cap really suits you Noah. Follow the suggestions given by the locals about walking stick when you trekk. Are you all going to Hyderabad? Great!! It is famous for it's biryanis. Chicken or mutton... Anything you wish. Specially non-vegetarian dishes. There are different types of biryanis you get through out India. Like Lakhnawi/avadhi, the one you ate at Kolkata, malabar from Kerala, Ambur, Moghlai, Sindhi, Kashmiri & many more. The spice n flavours are different from each other and really authentic. Do try most of them. Keep Exploring... Take care ❤

@@zingwibrothers the above statement is incorrect. Darjeeling is inhabited by Indians only, not Nepali. As India consists of many ethnicities, people in Darjeeling, Sikkim and North East are mostly of mangolid ethinicity and therefore, they have similar facial features as Nepal, Bhutan, Myamar and China. Influences depend on adjoining area such as nepal, china or myamar. Actually, it is insult to an Indian person from Darjiling with mangoloid ethnicity to be said Nepalee. FYI

@@s1prasad The statement I said is correct. When I used the term Nepali, I said it from ethnicity viewpoint and not nationality or citizenship viewpoint. Get out of the weird narrow mindedness. I'm from West Bengal, been to Darjeeling a few times and also had friends from Darjeeling. Read a bit of history, originally where Darjeeling belonged in Nepal and how British Raj made it a part of India. That's why people like Tamang, Gurkha and other Nepalese ethnicity are locals of Darjeeling. Just like lot of Chinese people settled in Kolkata a couple of centuries ago. Though they are Indian now, refering to them as Chinese is only refering to their ethnicity and not nationality and not demeaning in anyway. Stop being so uptight and loosen up a bit.

I am from Naxalbari, a town in Siliguri Subdivision under Darjeeling district...I would recommend you to visit Gopaldhara near Mirik and stay in Homestay...We stayed at Makhmali homestay and Nature is quintessentially sublime... Darjeeling is crowded, visit Sandakhphu(Highest peak of West Bengal...on the way you can visit land of Land Rovers), visit North Sikkim...

    Food recommendations:
    1. Keventer's for breakfast. Try a.Pork Platter, or b. Chicken Platter. If you are a pork lover then there are lots of options here.
    2. Kunga Resturant. Authentic Tibetan Food you will get here.
    3. Joey's Pub old school British ambience. You can have some beer in the evening. Although heard they renovated the place recently.
    4. Glenary's Darjeeling.

I would recommend you to visit the tiger hill in Darjeeling to see the sunrise and the majestic view of Kanchenjungha mountain during sunrise.
Next you can visit *Gorumara natinal park* in Jalpaiguri. This national park is awesome.

You Both people look real humble , and Look like Indians . Let’s Enjoy and learn it’s rich and varied heritage . West media’s like bbc always portraying only bad side of India , because India have 140cr population and all are having different cultures . Good and bad should be everywhere, but managing such a huge country is 100x difficult than ruling US/UK
