My First Day in DARJEELING West Bengal 🇮🇳

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 29 พ.ค. 2023
  • The day has come where I have left Assam and took a flight to West Bengal India. When I arrive to the airport, I locate an uber since it is a heavily occupied city by the military rather than filming the experience finding a bus. Once I am in the uber, I share with you the experience of driving to Darjeeling, my arrival to the homestay I stayed at and then my first impressions walking around Darjeeling in the evening.

    Being an Indian Nepali, people around darjeeling dont address with "dai"..people kinda get offended when someone calls "dai"..we call daju or just daa.... Hello brother. I am from West Bengal. Just watched your Darjeeling first day video. I must say, you should have mentioned (a little bit) the geography of Darjeeling earlier in your video, It may help your audiences to relate with the vibe of the place, Darjeeling is special, because the city is on the lap of the Himalayas Kanchenjunga is the third highest peak in the world. Darjeeling is the northern eastern part of India....and DHR- Darjeeling Himalayan Railways. 😊😊

    You went to Darjeeling at the peak time of the year. Since the rest of India is hotter than the northern mountainsides, people from mainly WB and the rest of India visit Darjeeling at this time. The best times to visit the mountains are October - November and Jan-Feb-Mar if you want peaceful roads and fewer people since it's colder in almost all parts of India.

      It should not be too much of a bother if it does happen. The poor people who still have the day to day work get up earlier in the eastern part than the western part. For the urban and even just the masses we all have phones that can automaticall change time zones. It really is not required in todays tech world to have a common time zone.

There are many ethnic communities in Darjeeling who speak in common dilaect Nepali and which doesn't mean they come from Nepal. It's because Himalayan belts are united by common language, religion and culture but divided by border. The Darjeeling has different history and geneology of the place... Enjoy your stay.

    i have a question for people who live on mountians (tourist places like Darjeeling) do you hate when travelers come to your city because of traffic and other problems or do you like it because tourism is basically the earning of many families there? i always thought that you guys must hate when us tourists come there so i feel kinda ashamed when conversing with the locals there

    • @quiettraveller3287
      @quiettraveller3287 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We don't hate the tourists in general but I personally think wherever there is a crowd, good and bad things are bound to happen. For example, some tourists have very poor habits of throwing garbage in the streets but our own local people aren't any less. I never had any bad experiences personally with the tourists but some of my links that work at hotels tell me it's usually the high class wealthy people who have very bad attitude and superiority complex. The dense crowded places obviously is a hassle too but we don't hold any contempt for the tourists. It's natural. Some tourists are friendly, some are not. We don't really hate the tourists in general.

    • @malasardar3147
      @malasardar3147 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the foreign tourists who treat them well. Sadly people from mainstream India treat North East people as outsiders. And the person commenting above is right, most people from main land India has this sense of superiority and the attitude is diabolical when it comes to interacting with the locals. And sorry if it sounds really really rude, but in recent times there is an influx of people from up, bihar, jharkhand who are settling down here and destroying the local culture.

    To all nepali brothers who thinks sikkim and darjeeling was a part of nepal dont hate me
    Till early 1700s, the whole of Darjeeling district was part of Sikkim and under the administration of king (or the Chogyal) of Sikkim. In 1706 however, the present Kalimpong district was taken over by the Bhutanese. Sikkim was also continuously invaded by the Gorkhas from Nepal.
