Dimash did not sign with a major recording company because he wanted to control of his own music. He may not be well known in the US but he is famous in Europe, Asia, South America - he possibly has more international fans of all ages than most vocalists.

That's the best thing about Dimash. You can't put him in a box. And he obviously doesn't want to put himself in a Box. He has said many times in interviews that he doesn't want to make his music mainstream if it costs him his integrity. He makes whatever songs he wants to make, and we dears are here for it.

You've stated it perfectly. That being said there are many (like Mr. Harris, and like myself, actually) who can hardly wait for Dimash to be discovered by our friends and acquaintances who heretofore are not familiar with him. Dimash has a way of teasing us with these instances of mainstream pop and then with a pure opera piece with a legendary opera singer, all the while thrilling those of us who want to whole world to know how great he is.

He did sing it in his recent concert in Hong Kong, no vampire stuff there. He composed the music, and in my opinion it’s not only about the music industry, it’s about Dimash’s insatiable curiosity about different styles of music, different sounds that he can’t help himself but explore and conquer

On the contrary, the song was dope and his voice was sublime. Thanks for your reaction and kind words to Dimash! Greetings from OK, USA ❤❤

Dimash doesn't perform different styles of music to acquire more fans or to increase his popularity. He does it because he enjoys doing it, of course you can't please all the people all of the time. I thought this video was great fun, just like the Beatles with "Sargent Pepper" who knows what he'll come up with next? I personally I can't wait.

A Dimash manca l'Europa! Purtroppo.

In the last few months, Dimash sang an opera duet with Placedo Domingo, did a reworking of Battle of Memories which is very James Bond theme, he did a jazz reworking of a Kazakh folk song called Durdurai, took part in a big Chinese festival, did a stripped back version of Omer, playing keyboards while his brother did acoustic guitar. Etc…. You can’t put Dimash in a box. He does what he wants to do and I’m here for whatever he wants to try. He is amazing.

The thing I love about him is his diversity. Opera, eastern folk, pop, etc. This video can’t hurt him so why not explore western rock pop, or whatever this song would be labeled. He was very excited to be playing in NYC a few years back, so may be trying to break into more of the western market. I’m American and if not for TH-cam I would have never known who he is. He has to do his own marketing since he won’t sign with a label to be free to make whatever music he wants, whenever he wants and these videos are the way he is doing it. He has conquered only a part of the world. He deserves to be known worldwide. His talent is far beyond other performers.

Dimash's repertoire and music videos range all over the place. You have heard only a small fraction of them. From very serious with huge messages to fun, dance, comedy, emotional types of songs in all types of genres and also videos. The bluesy When I've Got You is clearly aimed at western audiences but it is also a style from his own creative brain. Dimash's style is generally to mix styles nobody mixes and this one mixes at least 5 genres in one song (again). You cannot put Dimash in a box. And, he likes to have fun with his short films. I personally believe Dimash is training himself and his team for producing a major film at some point. To me, all the signs point toward this. He has now written a screenplay and composed a short film soundtrack for Story of One Sky and now another complete soundtrack for When I've Got You along with the music for the credits at the end. Practice makes perfect before attempting a major film. He will "soon" release another MV short film for the new song "Smoke" again composed by him and what looks like (in the teaser) an outrageous screenplay of Hollywood style tongue in cheek action sequences with a romance. (Perhaps a Romeo and Juliet with Mexican and US drug cartels? This one filmed in Los Angeles. LOL I crack up every time I think about what he can do with this scenario. Such as, Dimash as a Hollywood actor prepping for his role in his new film being shot in the desert, filming, then going back home after work.🤣)
Dimash is not stopping his concert tours so no problem there, he is still going to appear in giant stadiums and on large stages. Next concerts are on May 4th and May 24th in Budapest Hungary and Istanbul Turkey, respectively. When I've Got You is released as a single and is on all the major streaming platforms and is doing very well in Latin America and Europe and reaching some of their main radio stations with this and many other of his songs. You are right about his slower popularity here in the USA. In my opinion, the media moguls have put a "stop" order so not one word is written, no news is talked about Dimash, etc. Again my opinion, Dimash pulling out of that atrocious broken contract by CBS was and still is hampering his progress in the US.
Dimash around the world makes news, has news conferences, meets with heads of state and ambassadors of many countries (including the US Ambassador to Kazakhstan), appears on television, radio stations, etc. But not one word here anywhere in the news media. Even when Dimash personally met with the Pope in Kazakhstan, nothing was said in the news about the huge world conference of religious leaders where Dimash performed The Story of One Sky for the conference members which included Pope Francis and the Imam among over a hundred others who all stood and gave him a standing ovation. Dimash just recently was appointed the Regional Goodwill Ambassador for Asia for the United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM). Dimash said in a news conference he is putting together a team to help with his efforts as a Goodwill Ambassador.
So slowly but surely Dimash is conquering the globe. The USA will likely be the last country to fully fall under his talents and charm but it will despite the apparent media ban against him here. He has the rest of the world falling already as his continually growing fanbase of over 10M Dears can attest with official fanclubs in over 140 countries (I believe it's now reached around 160 but can't confirm this figure). Dimash does not really "need" the USA but it's a challenge he cannot resist and so far what he aims for he achieves.

Dimash wrote this song when he was in LA and exploring more of the Blues and Jazz genres.
Personally I love this song, yes the video can be a little distracting but it's easily available on all of the major music platforms without the video and we first heard it live in concert where everyone immediately fell in love with the song.
Reactors who previously have said that although they admire his talent, would never add him to a playlist are going crazy over this song and it's already earned him radio time in countries where he's never been played on the radio before so yes, I think this song has achieved its objective if that was getting him more mainstream recognition.

Mr. Harris, as a very busy professional and musician, your reaction to Dimash's new video is completely understandable. Today, it is not easy to expect an audience accustomed to fast-moving, content-empty images to show patience for a multi-faceted, multi-meaning video, or rather a mini-movie full of symbols and references. In this clip, every detail carries a message - from the rain to the costumes. Yes, the WIGY MV is primarily about the visual part and acting, and the music is just a soundtrack and should be treated as part of the picture's sound illustration. But Dimash develops in many directions and his love for visual symbolism is part of his poetic constant and musical prowess. As you said, let Dimash try, evolve, and follow his own path. Dimash knows best and we trust him. I hope we will get a professional recording of his song live during his anniversary concert in Istanbul and you will make a reaction on it. Love and respect💖🤗

Thank you for your sicere reaction.
At the presentation of the video in Turkey Dimash said that until now he had only shown 35% of his creative ability.
As the best singer ever, i can't imagine when he gets the 💯 %.
Honestly i think he is constantly exploring different genres, styles, voices techniques, sounds, etc. He is a free soul and artist that always is developing and creating new and original material.
I like the video, is very well done, and he is always taking care of all the details. A perfectionist as always.
The dark and sinister atmosphere of a lonely vampire who plays at the same time with supernatural powers and interdimensional gates between heaven and hell. The dark and gloomy and the possibility of crossing towards light and love.
Regarding the song, I really like the modern musical style. The complex runs, how he plays with the different sounds, the chorus and the solo guitar.
The message of a vampire who, chained to an eternal life in darkness and gloom, seeks freedom in love and will fight for it until he achieves it.
In my opinion, Dimash is unstoppable and has the guts, courage and talent to do whatever he desires. Because he wants to and because he can.
And the most important thing is that what he does is from the heart, with love and dedication for his entire audience.
    Allways an inspiration.

Second, he's a 30 year old man who can think for himself. This shows that he has what it takes to manage himself on his own. He said in an interview once that he really liked Western style music. How did anyone not see this coming? I raised 2 men and everyone seems to think he isn't a man that can think for himself and it's annoying. He says it in his song. "Making my way just a man in a men's world, making a name isn't easy." I know he doesn't always write his songs but surely whoever does has an idea of what Dimash has in mind for the song. I was a little dissappointed of this 'reaction' of yours Mr. Harris. As time passes by I'm being more & more convinced that Dimash doesn't need USA to feel as a successful, complete artist. He is already that! More over, he is his own boss!! He doesn't have some sneaky vig production company to blackmail him & tell him what he should sing. Dimash can stay true to himself & his values and not selling his Soul for the american fame or money. I find it exceptionaly great that he is turning more & more to Asia, 'cause there is the future - in any sense. There he has a huge number of fans w more to come. I'm glad that he tries new things, combines unexpected and brings joy to us who love him. Everything else would be in vain and he is not like that.
I personaly didn't have a problem at all to notice the details in the video, hear the music and read the subtitles.. Best regards from Germany

Just like in literature and film, what matters is the artistic level, not what's it about, whether it's fantasy, horror, vampires or whatever. Nothing beats Dimash's live performances for me though, and he performed this song live in Hong Kong and it was completely different and not less amazing. There are fancams. Oh, please. Mr Harris is quite aware that Dimash may be among the greatest of all time. I suspect you simply haven't understood that due to the language differences. Believe me, there are times I have had major issues with Mr. Harris (such as the time he reacted to only half of "The Story of One Sky,") but I do detect his true appreciation for Dimash's talent. I've been a devoted Dear from the beginning, and I happen to agree that the video is not appealing to everyone---including me. I wish he had done this music video in a completely different setting.

@@gdouglas999 Any musical production might not appeal to everyone. You disagreed with him there and others here. For me the question isn't even about if he liked the video or not - everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Personally, I do think that in general Mr. Harris' approach to Dimash is rather shallow and superficial though. My impression from the many video about Dimash I have seen so far that he only cares about vocal acrobatics and not about content, emotion or even just beautiful singing without special embellishments. After all this time, he doesn't even bother to turn on the closed captions, but then says he didn't understand what he was singing, without bothering to try and find out. I have seen much more in depth reactions to all his songs from other reactors, much more effort to really understand Dimash beyond his wide range.
Personally I love Dimash's sense of humor. I don't care about the theme of the video as long as it is well made. It's not about the genre, it's about the quality, the artistic expression. Just like in literature and film, what matters is the artistic level, not what's it about, whether it's fantasy, horror, vampires or whatever. Nothing beats Dimash's live performances for me though, they are alwaays the very best for me, and I can always rewatch the fancam performance as well. I am happy we have all this endless diversity from him. We can watch it live or the movie and it's a totally different experience, each pleasurable for me in its own way.

@@DiaLinwen I understand what you are saying, and I agree with much of it---particularly the word, "shallow." I do tend to give most reactors more credit than they might deserve, though, because I don't want them being turned off by too much criticism from Dimash's fans. After all, this one has 48 thousand subscribers so is bound to be introducing a number of them to Dimash every time he features a Dimash performance. And I will also say that I don't expect every Dimash reactor to be as enthusiastic about Dimash as we true Dears are. I still think this reactor understands Dimash's greatness even though he may not personally be enthralled, and I think it is his personal taste that keeps him from sounding totally sincere about that.

Dimash sings different styles of music because he wants to. He loves all genres of music from rap, rock, pop to classical. He chose to remain as an independent artist to retain musical freedom to do want he wants, to explore his voice in different genres (fusion).
Dimash composed and produced the song, came up with the video concept. He has more Blues themed songs coming out soon.
Don't forget his undergrad degree is in pop/jazz performance, and his master's degree is in composition.

He is not well known here in the USA yet , but he will be. However, he is already a big star in other countries.

Considering that seven years ago he only knew how to say hello "my name is Dimash" his English has improved 1000 percent.
    Lyrics of the song.
    "When I've Got You"
    Making my way,
Way down south to the river.
    Been lost for days,
    'Cause I'm looking for freedom.
There's nothing but chains around me,
    But I won't be broken.
'Cause I'm gonna fight this time,
    Fight every moment.
    (Pre-Chorus 1)
    Not gonna lie,
    It hurts this time,
'Cause I am feeling alone on this side.
    Not gonna lie,
    I come back to life,
    When I've got you.
    (Chorus)
You are my gateway to heaven,
If I ever knew in my life,
    My love, oh, my baby.
You are the best thing to happen.
I've got an angel down here, angel right here,
Watching every single thing and every little step that I take.
You make it all worth it baby.
    Finding my place,
    Just a man in a man's world.
    Making a name,
    Ain't easy these days.
But when I come home to your sweet love,
    You're my slice of heaven.
I've got my ride or die,
    In my arms all night.
    (Pre-Chorus 2)
    Not gonna lie,
    It hurts sometimes,
When I am feeling alone on this side.
    Not gonna lie,
    I come back to life,
    When I've got you.
    (Chorus)
You are my gateway to heaven.
If I ever knew in my life,
    My love, oh, my baby.
You are the best thing to happen.
I've got an angel down here, angel right
Watching every single thing and every little step that I take.
You make it all worth it baby.
    (Pre-Chorus 3)
    Not gonna lie,
    It hurts sometimes,
When I am feeling alone on this side.
    Not gonna lie,
    I come back to life,
    When I've got you.
    (Chorus)
You are my gateway to heaven,
If I ever knew in my life,
    My love, oh, my baby.
You are the best thing to happen.
I've got an angel down here, angel right here,
Watching every single thing and every little step that I take.
You make it all worth it baby.

Can’t Dimash do anything just for fun. He tries new things. Dimash should be seen as the best singer ever. I don’t think it’s fair to say he’s going in the wrong direction. Everything he does is different. He’s never going to please everyone, every time he opens his mouth. It’s not possible. I doubt this is the “direction” Dimash is going. It’s a fun song with a lot of imagination in the video. The “Be With Me”song and video were different and fun to watch. I think he knows what he’s doing. “Watching every thing I do and every step that I take”.

Hey Mr Harris! I don't think Dimash is going to change his style to this genre, I think he's merely incorporating yet another style into his vast wheelhouse. Apparently, he picked up a lot about blues/r&b/jazz while he had been staying here in California and studying, as well as working with major American producers during that time. But I am guessing that he will probably follow up in the future with more of this style, along with other styles. Here is what he is singing in the scat-like lines:
I've got an angel down here
    Angel right here
    Watching every single thing
and every little step that I take
You make it all worth it baby

Dimash never does anything "normal" but exceeds expectations every time to entertain his dears! I thought it was a music video masterpiece and it does help to have the subtitles on, to hear the words of that amazing run. You can understand it once you see the words once, and really his control of the english language to master this, you'd hardly know he wasn't english speaking. I love the lyrics, myself, because it has meaning for us all...who doesn't feel they have to fight to not give up, and find a way to live life that enjoys it to the fullest.

Dimash did not write the words, but he did the music.
And the woman was still in the Rolls dreaming about the visit as a journalist to interview Dimash.
Dimash is not fluent in or greatly knowledgeable about English, so he may not have understood the words as we do, and it was filmed in Astana, Kazakhstan I think, not America.
So, I think it is great, and could open up some opportunities for him.
He previously sang it onstage at Hong Kong, in a sharp pink suit with a hat on, if I remember correctly, or something similar.
Dimash will not be led astray, as he understood his destiny before he was between 2 and 5, and has been bringing it to fruition for 25+ years.
His Dad is with him as well, and so many people are on his side, and he won't allow exploitation as he showed when he left the World's Best Competition because they brought in kids as contestants, and he would have won a million dollars, but 2 kids moved up and an indian boy got the prize, I think. (At 76, my memory is not much good).

He is doing good. You are actually the first American who doesn't have a positive view about this video. Every video from other Americans, really love the music video and the dark vibes. I personally love it but I understand what you're saying. I want Dimash to be known but sometimes his choices confuse me. 🤣😂

Many thanks for your reaction. I remember you reacted the same way when you listened to his song "Be with me" and thought you'd know in the meantime that Dimash will not go into one special direction. He does what he wants. Have a look at his catalog and you'll see. In an interview in turkey some weaks ago he said that we will also hear soul, jazz or other styles of music from him in the future. I am really looking forward to that😇😀

I have been waiting for you to react to this, I think that Dimash added in enough Dimashisms that it isn’t easily replicated, so it definitely isn’t caving into the music industry, I always love your appreciation of Dimash. Have a wonderful weekend ❤.

Thank you, Mr. Harris, for your honest comment. I understand your point of view. After all, you are a vocal coach and musician, not a film critic 😀 I like the song and especially the variety in Dimash's work. You never know what to expect, and I like that. Thanks for the reaction. With much love from Bulgaria ❤️❤️❤️

When I first heard this song, I was not sure either! I agree with you. Dimash, IS THE GREATEST VOCALIST out there today, and for the next century….. but I just think that Dimash is ABOVE this work. I know he wrote the music, and he may be trying to appeal to a wider audience…. But I LOVE the Classic Dimash. It is NOT about me, but this is my humble opinion. He is very dear to me, but his GREAT TALK does not seem to be showcased here. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am not worried about negative criticism, but this is what I would tell “My friend” Dimash. I really think that he would appreciate my honesty. That is the AWESOME kind of human being that Dimash is❤

Dimash cannot be put into a specific box musically. He is far too talented and curious and with the versatility he possesses as well as a head full of music, the time has just come to try out this style of music and I think he manages it so fantastically well. Soon comes "Smoke" which I think is similar in style to this song. I wait in excitement. Thank you so much for your honest response and kind words about Dimash👍😊

I know how much you liked Omir from his MV, but he has a life video with his brother Mansur that I am sure you will love to see. Same title, Omir and it’s in his TH-cam channel. I like that Dimash tries to touch all type of genres. This song has a more Western appeal. Thank you for your reaction. ❤️☮️
