Mace Windu is definitely my favourite Star Wars character from the prequels. The representation was there for me as a kid - a Jedi that looked like my father. My father is more than just my parent. He's also my hero!

They’re insanely evenly matched but there’s a lot of different (and quite interesting) dynamics that make this match-up interesting. They’re basically #2 right on the heels of Sidious and Yoda. But the thing is, Windu has a greater chance of actually beating Sidious than Yoda would because of Vapaad. And Windu also probably has a better chance of defeating Sidious than Windu defeating Dooku, because Dooku is optimized for 1 on 1 lightsaber battles, and he isn’t fully tapped into the dark side, so Vapaad wouldn’t work as effectively on Dooku as it would on Palpatine/Sidious. Windu is kind of Palpatine’s achiles heel because of Windu’s mastery of Vapaad and Palpatine’s complete use of high level darkside abilities. Windu is the only one who could easily defeat Palpatine, but probably have a LOT more trouble with Count Dooku. Despite the fact that Sidious would shit on Dooku, or Anakin, and Anakin killed Dooku. So Mace easily defeats Palpatine, but has more trouble with Dooku. Dooku and Anakin get slapped by Palpatine, but Anakin defeated Dooku. The only reason I’m still going to give this one to Mace Windu regardless is because Dooku DOES use the dark side, even if he isn’t fully tapped into it to the point of having Sith eyes, he was still a Sith regardless, and because Windu is also one of the top tier 1 on 1 duelists. Anakin defeated Dooku, and I definitely think Mace would beat Episode 3 Anakin.

In response to @Game Time, it's tough to gauge how strong Anakin was on flat ground in ROTS. Plus if they just sped the footage up it'd be the only time they did that for an action scene and it'd be a little inconcistent as well as being lazy screenwriting.
