I haven’t had those type docks but I have had the rolling,ramp style dock before. Totally weird feeling trying to back to a dock that you can’t see at all when backing up to it.

New subscriber I live in ft Myers Florida thinking of knight transportation I am currently working at a pool cleaning company have been in the pool industry for about ten years I feel I am ready for a new carer do you have any advise for me please
Living that far south in Florida, your options will be limited. I'm not sure if Knight hires south of I4 or not. Things change based on their needs so they might. Only way to know is call a recruiter. They'd be a decent starter company if you can get on.
I use to run that route all the time doing dollar tree delivery. You would have been fine in the right lane. Trees aren't as low as they look. Now on abacorn rd the trees are 12ft
Christopher Coleman gotcha. I’ve never been in that area so I didn’t want to chance it especially since it said specifically on the direction sheet to not take that road. It worked out and I didn’t hit anything so it’s all good 🤣

You still with Knight? I live in Plant City and my neighbor drove for Knight until 2 months ago. I have a set date to train with Swift school next week as they are only open due to Covid-19 for Knight in TN. I would be out of Lakeland also. Still happy with them if you are still there? I did a few Publix runs with my neighbor just in FL a few months ago. Are you still running regional or local for Publix?
CaptainTonyStark yeah, I'm still here but only for about another month or so. I think I found a better opportunity. They treat me fine and I love my truck but the pay just isn't there. I avg 41 cpm and there has been more than one time I didn't get paid for a "local" run that pays an hourly rate so if you don't keep detailed notes, which I do, they'd get away with not paying at all. They just put me back on Publix here for a couple days but will prob go back to regular loads tomorrow.
So when are you going back to Millis? Or are you still planning on Crete? Publix needs a new building planner because those docks and the access to them are a joke!

I’ve been talking to a couple other places, one of which is smaller and not known at all. We shall see. Most of the Publix docks are set up good and aren’t real, normal style docks. It just happened to be these two were the scissor lift.

I like all of your video formats... a nice change of pace. How has Knight been treating you? You like the Lakeland terminal? You getting enough miles and work even now to make it worth your while? I've been considering Knight for CDL school, Squire program, & 1st year of work. Millis wouldn't be bad either, but Knight seems more flexible.
Neil Delta Kilo thank you! I’ve been treated good so far with Knight. The Lakeland terminal is ok. There are nicer ones (Indianapolis) and there are worse ones (Columbus OH and Katy TX). Miles...well...I’ve only had 3 weeks of 3,000+ miles since I started mid January. My average miles are 2400 so, no, that’s not near enough miles for my liking. My average at Millis was 2300 for the year and a half I was there. There are def positives and negatives to both Knight vs Millis. If you’re just entering the industry, I will always advocate Millis’ schooling and rookie pay...it’s simply very, very hard to beat. The biggest thing about this industry is to get your first year in accident free with whoever you can. Once you get that year in then doors will start to open up. At the two year mark, even more will open up including better local gigs. Feel free to ask me any further questions

I would love to know what you liked so much and found positive about the Knight Indy terminal (I lived in Plainfield for a bit and in the city for years). I was looking at the Indy terminal, Nashville (thought about using the flexibility of something like the 14x7 plan to join a band again and play music), or the Lakeland terminal (live in the greater Tampa area). Nashville's the only one I might eventually need flexible home time with. I wouldn't need it with the others. I would be tempted to do that first year (at least) with the Indianapolis terminal if you liked it that much. Indy is a great city to live in/nearby too. My other question -- I've heard Knight can be flexible with the dispatching and if you tell your dispatch manager the areas you would like to run, they're pretty good at keeping you happy... Is this true? I used to drive 40' Straight Trucks with FedEx Custom Critical (expediting) and saw plenty of the northeast, midwest, and south (but little west)... so I could see how much trying to maneuver a tractor-trailer around the northeast would suck. I'd love to avoid anything north of Cleveland to Washington DC. And I'd love to run around out west (see the sights and scenery), TX, the south, and lower midwest. PS -- Speaking of local gigs, I could totally see me eventually (after several years of experience) running a doubles LTL route for someone like Old Dominion or FedEx, running 250 miles and back, terminal to terminal, down in Florida, five days a week. Jason Hart ummmmmm, great question! I think the biggest thought he taught me was this...we are TRAILER drivers, not truck drivers. That means every single turning decision we make is with the trailer tandems in mind, how they’re going to react, and where they’re going to track. When you first start out, you just have to really take it slow, be SUPER vigilant and forward thinking and ere on the correct side (meaning give yourself the best possible chance for success in ever scenario). The more experience you get, the more you’ll be able to look at a situation and know whether or not you’ll be able to make and once you do, what you need to do to be successful. No, I’m with Gully/ICX now. Only lasted 5 months at Knight. Their pay (when I was with them) was embarrassingly low

How many months did you drive solo before you got comfortable driving that 80k beast? And backing?
I was comfortable in about a month. Now I’m a year and a half in and I’m confident I can get this thing in almost anywhere
