    I got goosebumps watching this. JJ did a phenomenal drone work, especially at 3:05 when the drone flew inside the chapel. Tragic... for a historic part of New Jersey was destroyed, and indeed, could have been saved. Hats off, thumbs up, and kudos to Joy for this production, Lisa, my Instagram pal, and a huge fan of Antiquity Echos & JJ.

    This is a great video. It's too bad we couldn't bring it back as your work suggests. It's a tragedy this place was demolished. I haven't been past the site since it was torn down. It's hard to believe the place isn't there anymore. I lived in Morristown most of my life and remember Greystone very well. I never thought for a moment one day it would no longer be there. You'd think they could have at least saved the main entrance building. Thank Chris Christie for this.

      A memorial is in the works. The pieces that we were able to save from the main entrance will once again stand tall on the same grounds.

    I lived just 3 blocks from here...and had a relative that worked there...this is so very sad from a historic point of view. The history lost here is disheartening. Love the way this is told from demise to rise. Thanks.

    What a beautiful piece. The artistry of the visual matched with the artistry of the music made this work very moving. Well Well Done!!! As for the topic, what a shame that Greystone was not saved and re-purposed. Not only have we lost the history of Greystone as an institution, but we have lost the wonderful architecture. Photos can only convey so much. Having the actual buildings to see and touch enable us to actually interact with history. What a shame. But, also, how lucky that these two women saw the merit in capturing these images and shared here on the Internet. Thank you.

    There was a lot of negative energy there and so many nurses got seriously injured. One friend of mine had to have major back surgery in which they had to move his voice box. There are so many stories like that. You’d get the chills just walking thru it. There was much pain and suffering within those walls.

    A very sad story that is so effectively told. It would be very interesting to investigate the demolition & consultant companies that rapidly demolished an important piece of NJ history. We deserve to know what political connections & relationships they had with our politicians that rushed the demise of this important historic icon. Janet & Bob Cole

      Nobody cares about old things anymore . This goes the same for old people . Erase history and you will forget what truly happened . Money and power are the new way of life .

  • @dragoncrackers7660
    @dragoncrackers7660 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Okay. Those people should have intervened before it got to that state. You can form a trust for restoration. You know people really just did not care until they saw the wrecking ball. What about the owners of the building, facing liability if someone goes in there and gets injured. Another point, should we just leave vacant buildings everywhere when the land is worth a ton of money, that makes no since at all. People want to cry and complain but they did nothing to stop it before it was too late. It was vacant for decades, why did nobody act? They didnt care thats why. Just remember the saying "When you point your finger at someone, there are three more pointing back at you"

    • @GlideByJJ
      @GlideByJJ  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thankfully some of these same people were able to save other Kirkbrides that stand strong and serve other purposes now. Many of the activists were involved for years trying to save Greystone before Christie ordered it to come down. I was pleasantly surprised to learn of all the efforts that so many people put forth to educate others and share the history of this building for decades.

    This was well done. I have total respect for everyone who wanted to see these great buildings saved, especially Main Building. But for those of us who suffered great abuse in the original buildings, I for one am glad to see them gone. Now if only New Jersey could hire qualified employees and administrators maybe one day Greystone can be a shining light of mental health reform instead of the mar it bears on our history.

    Film is relay impressive but subject appears for me as a terrifying lack of respect for local old monuments of architecture. The future generations would not understand why present people had done such destruction of own heritage. I'am not from US. I live in Europe in Poland where such devastation is associated only with II World War. Now we are trying to rebuild some of this buildings but a lot of heritage has gone forever.

      I couldn't agree more. After countless comments of "tragic", "how sad", what a shame" and on and on, it's refreshing to hear the voice of reason. Buildings like this are impressive but impractical to restore and maintain. I can't imagine what it would cost just to replace the wooden roofs on them. Once they begin to decay and break down, it would take a Herculean effort, along with millions of dollars to bring them back. And what for? What public use could they be put to? Time marches on and the demolition of huge and unused buildings is just a part of the renewal process.

    I would love to see proof, photographs, video that shows one of these elaborate buildings under construction. They were built prior to the first automobile, steam engine, or invention of electricity, and supposedly after the first photographic record.
    These masterpieces of design, mosaics, marble & stone work, required advanced skills & highly advanced tools.
    The Megalithic ancient ruins on every continent shows signs of a disaster (The Great Flood?) but maybe not every building was destroyed & we just renovated or fixed up what remained.
    Maybe the accepted historic time line should change, I think it's over exaggerated & it's still up for debated. One claim is our calender is plus 1000 yrs. it was transscribed from old english as i800 to 1800. Never the less, lets assume some buildings survived the catastrophic event & I believe it took place when & how the Bible described it!
    2000 yrs later we don't have the technology to construct the Great Pyramids, or other massive temples we see around the world.
    The truth about our history has been suppressed and rewritten. The Vatican Archives are sealed off from the public, what are they hiding? Coveting? Why would a ministry of God name their telescope Lucifer? I digress!
    My point: prove me wrong!
    Are there any photographs or film to "prove" we (humans) built these great buildings that are still standing today?
    We're great at tearing them all down!
