    25 yr concret guy here. Work around 20 other guys who love to talk about work boots. Lol. Thurogood American heritage moc toe wedge sole are the current favorite amongst us. Seems like we only get a year out of boots no matter the brand. Thurogoods are by far the most comfortable with little to no break in period. I prefer Stanley fat max tape. Little heavier and more awkward to hang on jeans. But seems to last longer than the power lock which would be my number 2. Right on with the hammers. Estwing gets an annoying ping sometimes but still number 2 like you said. Good video! Like your. Detailed explanations. Keep up the good work. Spring will be here soon.

      I go to a trade school to study to become an electrician in SoCal, and am in love with my Thorogood STYLE# 804-4200 Boots. They’re steel toe, which is why I got them. Don’t know the name of my other pair, but they’re slip ons I had at my last kitchen job. Those don’t have a steel toe though. Thorogood are by far my favorite boot I’ve ever worn. I’m only 25 so I have many more years to buy and wear stuff from that brand.

      I second Thorogoods. Moc toe is not the business for myself. I wear the 814-4364 and these seem to have more room in the toe box than the Moc toe. Been rocking these for the last 3 years and only on my second pair. This was the best all around pair I found after Chippewa stopped making the boots that I really liked.

    If your bending over a ton not concrete here but a alternative is a vest like 701 but that may get hot and dirty. A setup that's great for bending over kneeling all that stuff is the occidental leather beltless retro fit kit. For 60 bucks reuse your current bags and any suspenders that work for you. No belt is a great feeling especially when you kneel and bend over bags just lay down and move with you. I'd encourage you to give it a shot if you don't have good suspenders ox tools has a occidental leather knockoff that is dead on for half the price or just get ocl. My framing rig is badgers (more good bags well organized) on that retro kit and I forgot I'm wearing them. 60 bucks it's worth a shot 👍

    Great job being man enough to call out the "tough guys" for their lack of hearing protection, I actually met the owner of Keen at the world of concrete a few years ago. I told him I loved the wide toe, but didn't have the heart to tell him they only lasted me 3 months. Great video. more reviews of tools, trucks, and equipment please.

    Thorogood 814-4200’s are my go to boot as a carpenter. Also, I always have a pair of Redwing 875’s to wear if I’m feeling nostalgic I’ll throw them on. Both great boots for what I do and usually last 18 months.
    I’ve worn Diamondback belt & bags for years & couldn’t go without them. As far as hammer goes I swing a Stiletto full titanium 14oz milled face & 14oz. wood handle smooth face if I’m not driving nails all day or prying things apart. Tape measure is always a Stanley fat max 30’. Great video!

    • @RathburnContracting
      @RathburnContracting  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks for the comment! I have that same Stiletto but couldn't find it for the video. I loved it for framing our house but snapped the handle the first week trying to use it for concrete lol. Fat max is awesome for framing but the end isn't big enough for my fat fingers to pull out quickly lol

    I still see the Georgia boot amp moc toe boots on their website or they have the regular 8 inch moc toes I can’t do wedge soles but I love their logger boots. Also check out the Chippewa edge walker moc toes i know they’re not made in the US anymore but they still make a decent boot

    Keens Cincinnati 8in have been doing me well. However I don’t do concrete at all haha I have been worried about switching to the isotunes pods because I’m afraid of losing them. I have the kind that hang around my neck. I keep them on me 24/7 as well. Idk if you’ve tried the diamondback suspenders but boy oh boy they make it feel as if you’re not wearing a belt at all. I love this video… I’m in the remodeling space but it seems like we have a very similar set up all the way to the pants… however I go with the carhart version. the built in knee pads and slots for pencils and knifes are priceless.

    Danner boots they have a wide range and a great warranty actually. I've tried the ussal suspects including redwing keen Georgia bla bla. Since I have a danner store near me if I can damage them or kill them in less than a year they hand me a new pair (limit 3 per purchase). I have never gone past one replacement and they use to be caked in lye and chemicals. Glad to see you like truwerk I do too. The xp pants are t1 pants with knee pads slots and reinforced in every way yet still cool. The xp paints are worth the upgrade 👍. I respect your choices there just offering what I think may help you be more comfortable. Oh electrical tape the bottom of your hammer it slides easier or hockey tape ect. I did try one of thoes open hole all stainless tape measures but none are made well sadly. If someone could make one that is quality I'd buy it right away.

    The tool belt is key! When I did commercial carpentry I had gone through a bunch but I got the husky with the shoulder straps from Home Depot and they lasted along time. But there not super durable like OX and some better brands. I like the estwing framing hammer too. I’m one of the guys that used air pods at work but I should’ve just gotten proper hearing protection. The keens are my go to boots. They’ve been pretty good comfort wise but are pretty stiff in my opinion. Thanks for the tips! Keep making that money!

    • @RathburnContracting
      @RathburnContracting  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks! I've tried the shoulder straps before as well. I'm sure they're great for carpentry but I didn't like bending over the form with them and getting in and out of the machine. When I form I'm like a chicken with its head cut off so I can't stand bulkiness lol.

    I gotta get another pair of Keens had them years ago most comfortable boot I wore but didn’t last. Last 3 yrs iv been rocking the carhartt lace less boots. I prefer slip ons but can’t west square tows. The carhartt slip ons are comfortable good support last me one full year thats wearing them everyday except winter If there’s no snow I’ll wear them in winter. Living in south buffalo ny we often have feet of snow so I stick with muck boots in winter. I don’t wear the muck brand anymore cheaper brands last just as long.

      @ I got cabelas brand of mucks on Black Friday I forget the actual name on them think it’s redheads anyway I got 6 pair of them for $30 each. With all the snow we got I have been wearing them every single day since I got them. Jumping in out of trenches walking miles a day on them I do utility construction they still are in perfect shape. Hoping to get a year out every pair. Very impressed with them I’ll never buy a pair of muck brand again they ain’t worth it. If they lasted longer then 6 months maybe but I ain’t spending $200 for 6 months everything is just ridiculous now. The cost of gear just to go to work is nuts.

    Never understood people using hammers to drive in steel pins or wood stakes. Just destroys your wrist over time. Use a 6 to 10 pound sledge. Waaaaay easier

    • @RathburnContracting
