The opening credits for Season 1 (1974-1975) of Rhoda, which consisted of photographs of her souvenirs that define Rhoda Morgenstern's life. It was narrated by Valerie Harper.

I could watch just the intro over and over again. There's something about it that captures the kitschy magic and nostalgia of the 70s. I REALLY hope Valerie Harper is doing well!

I have the very same reaction. I guess part of it is nostalgia for me as well; I watched this show as a child and enjoyed it and seeing and hearing this again takes me back. I believe the episode of Rhoda's wedding was one of the most watched TV shows in history.

Gary Taylor Me too! Back during the 90s, the Nick at Nite era, I'd love staying up later on weekends and catching these old shows like 'Rhoda' and 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show'. Great memories! I really loved seeing 70s NYC in this show also. The vibe was so different!

I was watching the marathon Antenna TV was doing for Valerie Harper today(The sitcom Valerie), and there was a particular episode that caught my eye. The episode dealt with the passing of their dog. At the end of the episode, the father is describing how it felt flying the plane, and scattering the dog's ashes in the lake. Well at the end of the discussion, they raise their glasses to salute their dearly departed pet. At this time, I would like to raise my glass, and salute Valerie Kathryn Harper for being a wonderful human being and actress, honorary Bronxite(Rhoda was from the Bronx), and blessing us by being on three classic sitcoms. RIP Valerie

Would be nice if Rhoda, a spin-off of The Mary Tyler Moore Show to be on Disney+!

This show is what knocked the long running Gunsmoke off.

Yeah she definitely has that 70s/80s big city Independent-Broad appeal to her. Very fetching.

@Brdj010 Actually, "Gunsmoke" lasted until 1975 - "Rhoda" started in 1974, and I think the main think that killed off "Gunsmoke" was when Amanda Blake left.

Likely from one of the earliest episodes. As the season went by, the opening was shortened somewhat.

Chuck Braverman, of Braverman Productions, created this title sequence.

Rhoda was suppose to have been overweight whilst growing up yet oddly enough, Valerie Harper was never big or even close to that. This is reflected in the title sequence with pictures of the actress as a young teenage girl. In none of these photos does she look like she had a weright problem.....
    Odd.....

I believe Julie Kavner is the only member of the cast left now. RIP Valerie Harper.

she only looked big compared to Mary, who had to run around the shower to get wet. And the character played that up for the comedy.

Didn't watch much of the two series yet...but isn't Rhoda supposed to think that she's overweight rather than actually be that way ? Kinda reminds me of the movie Avanti !
