Zac - Excellent vid!! Great tips. Just wondering. What's the difference in yardage between hitting a 4-iron stinger and a regular 4-iron shot? More or less?
Tip for my non scratch golfers. See how he sets up at 4:12 with his shaft already in the position he wants at impact. He didn't mention it in the video, yet does it. So just set up with the shaft leaning like that, and boom, instant stinger.
I noticed that as well. What I learned was the bring the hands forward from a middle stance. Sometimes I set up with shaft lean, but I’m back in my stance. Something to work on.
Hi Zac, I got thank you for this video. I have been struggling lately playing in high wind. I've been practising your tips for hitting stingers to overcome the winds. Now I'm hitting them naturally and they are deadly accurate for me. As long as I rotate my body through the shot, I feel like I have it on a string. Today I had 7 nearest to pins and many putts for pins slammers thanks to your instruction. I feel like this might become a stock shot for me. I just need to learn how to sting my driver and 3 woods now.
This is exactly the shot I need at my home course with its continuous but narrow fairways and high winds rewarding accurate ball placement and low spin.
I play downland links course where the wind is ever present, like 25-40 mph. Trees grow sideways. The stinger is bread and butter. From driver to wedge its the best shot to have in your arsenal. Once mastered like Zrad has, it gives muchos confidence playing in the wind. Practice will master the shot. It's so fkn cool.
Me and my good mate KG play every weekrnd at Turramurra links and we regularly turn to our stingers to navigate the gnarly conditions, sometimes when teeing up a gust off ocean wind howls, we look at each other and nod, "STINGER TIME" no need to discuss. We've been mates since age 12 and have been stinging courses together for years
I play a course in Corpus and it's always windy, I've been looking for you, I see you on tok but never on TH-cam, now I have some practice to do. Thanks
I just saw Devan Bonebrake on the Golf Fix (The Golf Channel) shout out Zac and his Sitnger shot and mechanics! Glad to see you getting your props... "Let's go!"
That was lovely to watch such a beautiful stinger shots and a very easily explained. Wao its treat to watch these stingers by you. I will try it and share the results
Thank you King of Sting! My son just asked me what was the next part of my game I was going to work to improve...I told him stingers, so this is right on time! Thank you!⛳️🏌🏽♂️🙌🏽
Okay, let's see: 1) ball center stance 2) 60% weight on the front leg 3) lead hard with the hands 4) rotate upper body while leading with hands 5) noodle arms I wrote this for my benefit.
Well, Zac, I’m so happy I’ve watched this as much as I have. I’m a mid/high teen handicap and have my days for sure. I haven’t had a chance to use this shot until tonight. I shanked a second shot on a par 4, hit the cart path and rolled under a stump. I took a drop, but still had about 80 yds and had to keep it under the trees. I hit a somewhat soft stinger and rolled it within ten feet of the cup. I saved a bogey, which would’ve been a double or triple usually. I can’t thank you enough for the video.
Whenever i attempt and am successful at a stinger i have to take hardly any divot You must have incredibly strong wrists. 30 years ago i was on a driving range with a famous hockey player, who had 3 bodyguards with him cause he was Russian. He hit irons over 280 yards, but what impressed me were the divots. The ground was hard clay with little grass, and he sent 12 inch divots like 20 yards with each shot.
2:44 I don't want any tension on any shot but ball placement i like i might use less shaft lean and move the ball 1/4 inch further back, I am not as good at golf but everyone's swing is different
When I first started into golf, risers were all I ever hit with my driver. They were the coolest thing to watch. Just when you thought the ball would start to sink via gravity, it would take one last pop up with the spin, and then drop. Now that I have fixed my swing through lessons, I can't hit them anymore even if I try.
Awesome sounds, great video. Going to give this a shot at the range, only been to the range once and only ever had 1 round of golf so hopefully I won't have too many bad habits when trying this.
I’ve struggled with stingers badly. I’ve only been playing about 8 months, but this video made me understand stingers perfectly. I hit some beautiful stingers on the course yesterday applying this. You earned a sub from me. Thanks for the content.
Whats your handicap now bro? 8months playing.. learning stinger shots! Sounds like your took to golf like a duck to water! Most people are just happy to make consistent contact with the ball after 8months 😅
Great tutorial video, Zac. You should intersperse these with the other videos. All facets of the game would be much appreciated. Do these shots put added torque on your upper body? It helps that your frame is long and lean. For us mortals that are older and thicker, that would be a challenge. To get your hands the far forward is almost against anything that was taught to me many moons ago. Give Andrew a big shout out. Take care. Stay safe.
Watched this in the morning, took it on the course for comp in the afternoon- first three attempts were gold! Striped them. Had never hit anything stinger-ish before. Then got a bit cocky…..wheels fell off! But worth it- cheers
Back in 89 I was in my mid 30s and started playing golf, one morning playing at Disney I was paired with a golf pro from South America(he was playing the FL tournaments). First tee long par 4, I pull my TM Tour Bunner😄 and to my rookie surprise I drive it about 170 from the green. mind you we played balata balls back then, this guy steps up and drives the ball hugging the fairway and it slowly starts to rise and rise and lands way past the 150 marker😳. I'm hitting a 5 iron into the water and he hits the green with a wedge🙄. today is the day I learned that he hit a Stinger off that tee😳 what a thing of beauty!
Loving the stingers! I've got a 2 iron I don't use I really need to get it going for those low rising ones. You need to get back on tour and do live completion vlogs 😉
Been playing about a year mostly in the 120s but I've recently gotten into the 90s. Last time I played I hit a 91 and I 100% attribute it to the crazy low stingers I was hitting with my 3 wood. Idk how I did it but it was amazing seeing the ball rocket across a lake 3 feet above the water and find the green 150 yards away
@@imcontemptwithlife4155 yeah I don't know if you read it but the ball was like 3 foot off the ground and over water. Doesn't seem like your contempt with life if you're just gonna be a troll
Zac, great stingers. With the draw and fade, is the club face facing the target while you swing on the start line direction. If that makes sense. Cheers, Andy
You make the shot seem so easy, absolutely beautiful to watch. Do you know of any drills to help with trying to get the hands leading, or is that something that I need to just learn the feeling for.
Widen your stance big time trip down on the club to the shaft then try to scrape the butt end of the club on the ground. Hope that makes sense this is much easier to show than to type out haha

That intro was the coolest, most beautiful golf poetry I've ever seen. Fantastic, thank you!

Yeah no just leaning the shaft forward will not produce an “instant stinger” pretty sure the other 5 points are insanely more important
@@rBlake nothing gets by you eh
I noticed that as well. What I learned was the bring the hands forward from a middle stance. Sometimes I set up with shaft lean, but I’m back in my stance. Something to work on.
I feel like out of all the first 5 tips, ball position is the main take away. The other 4 tips are just good all around for pure iron striking.
The one and only king of sting

Well, behind Tiger off course!

Yes indeed. Almost looks fake.
The best explanation I've seen so far, gonna have to practice this next time, great video!
Boom! Video starts with my 2 favorite stingers then when you "get to it" you start with the phenomenal stinger that just blows my mind!
Glad you enjoy those 👊
