I don't understand why nobody thinks of it as the Chinese government subsidizing American citizen's daily driver. What's not to like? Legacy auto is dead, it's not like these tariffs are going to change that. China or no, legacy won't last long.
among US car manufacturers, only Tesla competes successfully outside of the US. And yet it gets criticized heavily in the US.

A study was done recently that proves that gasoline cars have much less air conditioning time in traffic congestion
True because when caught in jam, your engine rpm onnidke is low maybe slightly less than 1000rpm. The air-conditioning compressor attached to the engine also rotate at that speed. It ain't enough to cool the cabin and worst the engine heat build up affect the Aircon Cooling Fins from Cooling and thus reduced efficiency. Sometimes you switch off air-conditioning and wind down windows are cooler during a terrible jam. Sometimes engine will overheat due to air-conditioning heat generated in engine bay cause breakdown.
I 100% agree that tariffs are really bad for climate goals, and they are essentially just protecting US and Japanese automakers and jobs. Everything said on this channel was correct
The difference is the US is providing tax incentives for domestic production. The CCP is paying manufacturer to export EV at a lower cost.

I am in candada and our government claims that china has "dubious" working practices allowing them to make cars cheaper. Essentially we cant compete with what the chinese are making. I wish our government would come out and say we can do better as opposed to we cant win.

There are car safety crash tests done by Europe, Chinese cars did better than well known European brand cars!
Tesla makes billions selling EV credits but rather than using this money to reduce the price of its EVs, it tells the EV buyer to use the green energy tax credit allowed to consumers. Tesla also tells buyers of its EVs that the price being charged should adjusted by the realized cost savings vis a vis an ICE car.

Greetings, it is a shame and embarrassing how some media (possibly pressured by manufacturers and politicians) make such vulgar reports, according to them trying to influence consumers by discrediting Chinese manufacturers. I remember when they made fun of Japanese cars. The reality is different, today there are Chinese EV car manufacturers that are as good or even better than the American ones.
Since you're in Thailand, you should test drive the XPeng G6. I think it will surprise you.
You just had a video on cheap Chinese electric cars and now you are defending Tesla’s high prices. I cancelled 3 orders a year or two ago and it cost me $500 but saved me tens of thousands over todays prices

I hesitate to call an industry stupid because it the work of people, most trying to do a good job for someone. . I think instead that mostly they're ignorant and suffer from perceptual distortion. The video that was being reviewed was an edited product . The reporter was not a transportation specialist and probably the editor wasn't either. That made it improbable that an objective balanced review of a new technology would be the result. The reporter obviously was trying to be objective and of what she said in total, a portion of her objective criticism was included comma, probably only a small fraction to fit a rime constraint. We have no idea what the producer of that video was told to produce, but again, it's unlikely that they were a transportation expert. BNBC and similiar channels are primarily advertising platforms with a broad audience. They make money by reinforcing popular ideas and resisting new or unpopular ones to maintain an audience of consistent characteristics that their advertisers want to reach.

I don't think anyone can reasonably deny that Tesla/Elon made a huge mistake by delaying cheaper models. They still desperately need a sub 25k, ideally a 20k car to resume auto growth until FSD is solved.
IMHO, as hybrids go, extended range electric vehicles (EREVs) are a decent option. An EREV offers platform simplicity (no transmission/powertrain, single small engine used only as a generator to feed electricity to the batteries), efficiency, and range advantages over PHEV and HEV vehicles. I think we will see many more EREVs sell very well in Western and non-Western markets over the remainder of this decade.

Tesla is toast simply because our BYD seal is simply more enticingly luxurious and equipped than our previous Model 3s. Sooo much more for similar money.
Tesla being toast because your BYD seal costs about the same and gives you more doesn't work. Tesla produces better software, better design, FSD that works, and isn't just a car company. They are also a world leader in manufacturing, robotics, AI/AGI development, energy and soon robotaxis and other sectors as well. BYD does... cars. We also don't have enough data to know how long those cars last, how reliable they are, and how well their batteries will perform with time. I'll take a Tesla over a BYD any time because Tesla is established to a much greater degree and I know what I'm getting is going to last me 15-18 years for my primary battery. I also have my car driving me 95% of the time now with FSD 12.5.1.3, and it drives as well as I do in 90% of cases. BYD will have to license that tech from Tesla to manage such a feat.

@@nguyep4 the Chengdu auto show showed just how little time Tesla has left in the Chinese market. Influencers keeping you 'informed' won't cover for the reality of today. Discounting and 0% loans can only work for so long. China is a fashion market and Tesla is old and common. The good times are over.

Your argument about labor costs and energy efficiencies is correct and on the dot. If I were a Chinese EV maker, I'd look to build cars in a right to work state and bypass unions as long as possible. There are structures internal to companies to bring workers into the process of making good decisions for the company. Soon enough, Tesla bot will make a lot of unions disappear, even in China.

BYD doesn't have battery fire issue. Tesla uses BYD batteries

It has been a while (maybe last year?) and I do not remember the models, but Chinese sources had dozens of examples in traffic, while charging, and in parking lots. They were surprised it included even BYD's top model.
As I said it has been a while since that has popped up in my feed so maybe it is fixed now.

we Americans should Prioritize 100% American non Union jobs & vehicle Production in the USA.
IF a Chinese OEM wants to SELL in the USA , they will either HAVE TO pay 100% TARIFF on BEV and ban sale of IMPORTED ICE & Hybrids . or they can build a AUTO Factory that they can OWN, but ONLY make BEV , and NOT NEV & Hybrids.
from a Homologation standpoint CHYNA imports & USA made CHYNA cars will HAVE TO Abide by FMVSS regulations & ALL must be 5 star crash rated for SAFETY.
at a LATER date Tesla FSD will also be MANDATED for SAFETY , FSD v12.5 already 5X SAFER.
If the priority is climate change and the Chinese government wants to give American consumers discounts on EVs then we should take their money and reduced fossil fuel use

You asked the question about why China has 139 EV companies and the US has so few? Answer, government regulations in the US is prohibitive. Lucid and Rivian can't make competitively priced cars and trucks because of oppressive government regulations. We do need some regulations/standards, but not the plethora of regulations we now have. Government is very stupid in how we work. We give tax breaks on one hand and make the hurdles so much higher in other areas. I don't like the tax breaks either. It's just another way government tries to alter equilibrium. It's also easier for governments to implement straight forward taxing and under the radar taxing, which is evil in my opinion. I want sales taxes only. I want to eliminate 98% of the need for the IRS. I want to personalize accounts for retirement. There may be some portion of sales taxes needed to support the outlier cases as an insurance program for these people. getting way off Tesla now. Sorry
Tesla keeps working to make their vehicles a better ride, more efficient, and cheaper to produce. In my opinion, they should make more of the parts needed to produce their vehicles. In some cases, this doesn't make sense. Glass is one of those exceptions. The glass industry is simple yet complicated. Mostly because of economies of scale. It would require making at least 10,000,000 cars a year to get to the breakeven point in self manufacturing in the glass area.
Tesla makes own Glass in Fremont.
@donnydye1988 it’s obvious but not yet believed that Chinese self driving software will be blocked outside China. Tesla will be the most advanced and locality-neutral self driving technology. China will license to be able to sell their EV/AV in North America and Europe. And Tesla will use dojo technology to make their AVs drive better by locating a data center in the locality. Data will not leave a country/region. That will be the strongest selling point for Tesla FSD. It will be the best data as it will start with driving from that region with specific manufacturers and specific model geometry, specific language recognition on signage. Why mix right hand and left hand drive data? English and French? Chinese and Korean? These data centers will be purpose built for autonomy in that region. No brainer that no one talks about.

I'm not sure what potential gains you're referring to. Tesla continues to develop key technologies. The value of Tesla stock will rise dramatically in the coming years. I see no better place to invest my money. If I had sold, I don't know what I would have bought that would have done better.
