I didn't know ships were such a common theme. My dad has had a mustache my whole life. He says that when he was young, he asked for a tattoo of a ship on his upper lip, but the tattoo artist made a sinking ship, so he grew a mustache to cover it. As little kids, my sisters and I tried to part the hairs of his mustache so we could see it. Pretty sure it was one of those things you tell little kids just to see what they'll believe.
So no one is going to talk about the toilet pic except Kirk? 🤣 I am about to move to skin as an apprentice and I watch these videos religiously! Thanks Kirk!
Bro. Thank you for reviewing my tattoo. I’m the guy with gear and compass hand tattoo. I probably should’ve included the rest of my sleeve so you understand how it works for me. I have a gap in my wrist because I’m always wearing watches
This is me 21:00 and the tattoo is by Lil Tokyo Jiro of Onizuka Tattoo in Gardena, CA! This is actually my first tattoo with color, as I have full arm sleeves and most of my legs and torso done in black and gray. We started with adding red and then Jiro suggested the color purple.
Thanks for finally checking my tat, I got the castle on my ribs and when I stand straight getting a photo it’s not too bad and only just taps onto where my ribs start to curve
I love your content. The honesty and information is on point. So glad your subscriber numbers keep growing and the world gets to learn about tattoos from someone who actually knows their shit.
19:50 long hair goatee guy here 🫡. The tattoo was done by Clayton Barnhill out of Taste of Ink tattoo in Wendell ID! He did the Japanese clouds as well as the hanya mask girl! Thats the only part of my arm that has the japanese clouds but will send an updated picture when its all said and done!!
I'm a cleanskin. My question is likely stupid, but here it is anyway. What is the point of getting a tattoo that you're never going to see? Like, a big back piece? Good, bad, or ugly, does it matter if you never see it?
@@Jake-bt3fc I hear you, but.... because it's a style, rather than half a style. But yes, I get your point. There are plenty of hair cuts that look....yikes.
@MaterLacrymarum My thoughts exactly. I currently don’t have any tattoos, but I want one and keep watching Kirk’s videos to decide exactly what it is that I want. I see no point at all in spending a lot of money on something I’m not going to see. If I’m spending that kind of money, I’m spending it on something that I myself can look at and enjoy whenever I want.
@Jake-bt3fc I don’t have any tattoos, but I think it’s safe to assume getting a tattoo is notably more expensive than getting a haircut. If I’m spending that kind of money, I’m not spending it on something I’m not going to see.
Your tattoos aren’t necessarily for YOU to see. Sure, they’re nice to look at (I look at mine and appreciate them from time to time) but at least for me, it’s a visual representation of myself that others can interpret. I don’t get any of my tattoos with the assumption I’ll be looking at it, but that something resonates with me and the art that I want to show. A back piece is the same; the tattoo is for me at the end of the day whether or not I see/look at it all day. True that I won’t see it, but it’s still a representation of me (and I assume others WILL see). Also, I know it’s there, and it brings me joy (and sometimes confidence) just KNOWING it’s there, regardless if I can see it at that moment. Idk, those are just my thoughts though
Lol, I just tried taking pictures of my tattoos to send in and I realized why most of these pics seem to be taken by the artist portfolio pictures taken right after doing the tattoo. It’s hard AF to take pics of your own tattoos, and once they start aging they don’t photograph as well so it makes it even harder.. Especially when you have an iPhone 7 with a messed up lens from taking pics of the eclipse like me.
I think that mettalic mask looks a little "off" because it's such an extreme rounded perspective view on a spot that's already naturally rounded, and the perspectives conflict with each other. If it was more of a straight-on view I think it would make more sense.
My tattoos are older n not perfect n I love them all but watching you I'm able to look at them n see stuff the tattoo artist may have blown out a little line or did not outline thick enough n I like doing that, it's interesting esp based on the tattoo artist that did it. Thank you!! I watch n learn. *You're not so much talking shit as you are talking technical correctness.
Literally cannot see one issue with the blue panther. Now i dont spend hours of my week analyzing tats but i cannot find one problem with the shading, saturation, or lines 😭
the mask at 29:00 maybe looks off because there is just too much gray. the contrast is to similar so the image is just "muddy" should have been just more skin or even white if possible instead there are little blacks and grays all over.
Thanks dude your video made my day. Feel free to use my hands for a video I sent you the photo last week. Think they hold out really well. Have a kick ass week.
I've been watching your videos for a couple of months now, and today it became crystal clear to me, that you would hate every single one of my tattoos. I like it when the universe sends me messages but I don't like feeling bad about myself. Adios 💀
Hahahahaha I feel you, Kirk probably wouldn't like half of my tattoos 😂 but tbf American traditional also isn't exactly my favourite style. It's a hit or miss for me. I still appreciate his technical knowledge.
I think all that matters is that you like them!! I only have one tattoo, and it's rainbow text with no black outline 😂😂😂 Kirk would DESPISE it. But I love it sm and wouldn't trade it for anything!! Don't let anyone spoil your fun.
Can you show pic’s of some of the tattoo’s you have done? It would be nice to see visual representation of how traditional is supposed to look in comparison to some of the traditional from other artists. Thank you!
I have a story to share... It's a bit long, but worth it! Back in 1945/46 my Dad went over to a Buddy's house about whatever. This was shortly after Christmas. While there he noticed his buddies 8 year old son sitting on the floor with a box which stated it was a "TOY TATTOO KIT, look just like your Dad!" It looked like hed been playing for quite awhile. He had the sh1+ all over his face, arms, chest.. pretty much whatever skin he could reach had an 8 year olds scribbles, lines and childish renderings. My dad was still waiting for his buddy to come back, so he asked if he could play with it for a minute. My dad's a lefty, so he tattooed his right wrist with my mother's name, "Icy" (yes, her real birth name). He immediately discovered that tattooing is harder than it looks. It was kinda squished together and the lines very thick! He was planning to prank my mom, telling her he went and got a tattoo, which she would not be too happy about. He pulled the prank off flawlessly, but as he was getting ready for bed he tried washing the tattoo off. Nope, it wasn't coming off. Thinking it'll just wear off or he'll ask my mom use one of her "concoctions.". The next day that "fake" tattoo scabbed up. Not wanting it to become infected he used antiseptic, Vaseline and covered it with a bandage. When my Dad passed away at 99 years old that tattoo was still clearly visible! He often wondered about his buddies kid, seeing ss hed had "that sh1+ all over his entire body!" Imagine buying a toy tattoo kit as a Christmas gift for your kid which turns out to NOT BE A TOY, but a real tattoo gun! If you're not aware, back in the 1940's up until the mid 1970's no safety oversight or testing was performed on toys, cribs, highchairs, playpens etc. before they became available to any "Tom, Dick or Harry," who wanted to buy them, i.e.; remember the chemistry set which included Uranium and SEVERAL other chemicals and substances, which combined had the potential to cause major injury and/or death! Ido, I had one! One sad note occurred due to several factors, part because the tattoo was truly difficult to read and covered his wrist (ICY) and we were of Jewish decent. Which is why my Semper Fi Dad during WWII was sent to the Pacific Front instead for fear of what might happen should he be captured by the Na Z1's. So many people from that era believed it was a number tattooed on him from his time in a Na. Zi concentration camp! (He was never in one just to be clear) Regardless of that sadness, every time someone asked about his tattoo he'd regale them with this story. Which my mom swore was true and accurate. I was blessed to hear this story and many, many more growing up. In fact as an adult whenever I introduced anyone new to my Dad I'd beg him to tell some of my favorite stories! So my dad would tell the story again! Miss you Daddy!
I think it’s because whoever took the pic put a HEAVY filter over it so the blacks look blacker and the whites look whiter. So that white shirt looks almost fake.
That robot woman is a cool design, but the anatomy is really wonkey, the stomach should line up better and the lines are off. Look deeper, the left side was much better than the right half, feels rushed
