Jain philosophy depicts that there are 2 types of matter (padarth), one that is visible to us with the naked eye which is called the Sthul Padarth, while the other which is intensely microscopic and not visible to the naked eye which is called Sukshma Padarth. Karma is a type of Sukshma Padarth. Like sand is made of tiny particles, Karma too is matter which consists of infinitesimally small particles.
