I agree and thanks to it having sold so badly I have to fork out 200-250 bucks to get one. I used to have one but was forced to part with it but trying to find one here in Sweden well hell finding a new PS4 was dirt cheap compared to the vita. and well the ps vita has sold around 14-16mill units compared to ps4 114 million units so no wonder the vita cost 100-150 more than a ps4. But man PS vita has so many great games I honestly want a PS vita 2.
I knew of the existence of Tokyo Xanadu, but I hadn't seen gameplay. Now you've convinced me to play it. In fact, tales of hearts is a remake of a game that came out for Nintendo DS only in Japan. (which curiously came out in 2 versions, one with anime cinemas and one with CGI cinemas, and you will guess that the latter was not to the taste of most) I've always seen lost dimension and he's never managed to convince me. More games that should have been on this list Toukiden series: they are basically monster hunter /God eater, but inspired by Japanese folklore. Oreshinka: the last game Sony IE Japan Studio released for psvita. Penny punching princess: An action rpg with interesting mechanics. Trillion, God of destruction: I don't know whether to consider it a fusion between a novel visual or an rpg. The princess guide: Although its version for vita only came out in Japan, but its version for PS4 and switch if they were located for the West (but can be played with an English patch, but only on modified consoles) From the same creators of penny punching princess

I'm a fan and subscriber but you need to look at it realistically. JRPG is a niche genre and there are only so many worthwhile games per system. Over the years, his content is mostly rehashed over and over again. We definitely need him to make this content, though, because nobody else is as focused or knowledgeable about such a wide variety of JRPGs.
It's cool that you're still playing on your Vita. I'm still enjoying my PSVita, even though I have a Switch Lite as well. Although I don't have nor have played Ys Memories of Celceta.
I used to own a Vita at launch, but my family misplaced it while moving apartments years ago while I was away for work. I just ordered a Vita again for this Christmas, looking forward to relive my teenage years.
The Vita is honestly one of the best systems when it comes to JRPGs. It has so many amazing games, it was just a shame that Sony gave it no support. I really enjoyed Freedom Wars, but Muramasa Rebirth is one of my favourite titles on the Vita. I loved that game and enjoyed it so much. I didn't even know that Ys Origin got a vita port. I knew it was on PSP, which was playable on Vita, but honestly had no idea it got released on the Vita itself. I've never even heard of Lost Dimension, so that's one for me to look into. Looking on the PS store I don't even see it available to purchase, so it looks like the only option would be the steam version for me. I could buy a physical copy off of somewhere like ebay, but all the copies I can find would be more expensive, plus I tend to play games on PC more often so having it on steam would likely be more convenient. It definitely looks like it'd appeal to me, so I've added it to my wishlist for now and may pick it up later this year :)
I think Erik doesn't go for dungeon crawlers as much as he does story driven JRPGs. Considering his love of Valkyrie Profile I'm surprised Exist Archive didn't make the list. I think if he'd gone out to fifteen Akiba's Beat and Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters could go on the list as well.

When I saw the game footage of Freedom Wars, I actually thought it was "God Eater". I looked up the game and found out they were co-developed by Shift, the same people who developed the first 2 GE games!
Got em all except for Ys Origins since Ys doesn't interest me. Oh well! Jailbreak your Vita and play every Trails game on it from Skies 1 through Cold Steel 2. Make your Vita a dedicated Trails machine.

I used to play Fighting Games I Played Dead or Alive 3 My favorite levels is the bridge and the fancy House and I play some in the PSP like Naruto and Dissida Final fantasy i also played Phantasy Star Portable 1 & 2 mostly 2
The Project Diva game series is great for anyone into rhythm games. Project Diva F and F2nd are on PS3 and Project Diva X is on PS4 but I think they really shine on the ps vita. :3 Even though I have them on ps3/ps4 I go back to the games on ps vita more.
I just went to buy Lost Dimension on the VITA store and sadly, it's no longer there. You can buy an extra costume though (for a game that you can no longer buy)!

actually just bought a replacement Vita and the digital version of Tales Of Hearts R! and I'm probably going to grab Muramasa Rebirth & it's DLC as well ( I have the original Wii version but the improvements on Vita are too good to pass up )
Tales of Hearts R is the only physical game I own for the Vita 😂 I actually bought the Vita just so I could play it ^^; other than that the only games we have on there are Gravity Rush, Katamari, Wipeout, and Persona 4 Golden (which is the only other game I've played at length on there) its such a shame, because its genuinely a great console, and one of the few handhelds I can use without getting a migraine, but we just didn't see as many exclusive games released for it here as in Japan.
Unfortunately trying to get the physical versions of most of these games is way too expensive right now especially now that the stores are about to close, Muramasa for example is like over $100 right now on eBay smh

Adventures of Mana on the Vita did not get the attention it deserved. I still have my gameboy version of Final Fantasy Adventure, and the Vita remake is awesome, even letting you switch to the original soundtrack.
Vita is worth getting games for before they become too hard and too expensive to find. Certainly worth getting the 3 Vanillaware games and other 2D JRPGs. Also worth getting the Ys games like Origin and Ys 8 despite the later games got screwed in their English Dub. XSeed should never have given the series to NISA. Also the Neptunia games are worth getting on the Vita as they are better versions and more refined than the original PS3 games. (Plus the Neptunia spinoffs are a great alternative as they are not like the JRPGs) I also focused on Japanese Imports that never saw release in the west, as well as some games like Blue Reflection that was released in the West but only on the PS4, so I had to import Blue Reflection from Japan. Already got Lost Dimension on the PS3 and it was a fine game, most certainly under rated because I was sure not many have even played it either on the PS3 or PS Vita.
Sorry sorry to compare you but. You are everything that I loved about AlphaOmegaSin with none of the drawbacks. It's all about the games with metal undertones.
So many great games on the Vita. Is there any way to emulate it? I prefer to play games on my PC if possible and I know that the Vita is a dying system.
The vita didn't really have any exclusives. Almost all of the games on vita are on pc natively and almost all of the ones that aren't can be played via other working emulators(like rpcs3). Only a couple like freedom wars and hearts r can't be played except for vita (though the original hearts can be played via emulator)

The only one I would class as a "true" RPG is Tales of Hearts R. World map, NPCs, towns and turn-based combat. Modern RPGs have gone down a path I don't like.

Ys Origin was the first Ys game I played, 3 months later I finished th 7 other translated games and even got platinum in 8.
