    Thanks, I fixed mine. For the ASSE 1019-A I found the parts at my Ace hardware. The O ring is 1 1/16" O.D. x 7/8" I.D. The flat washer is 15//32" O.D. Less than $2 for the repair.

    man I love youtube! Turns out my siphon valve was jammed by the washer not seating properly. Took it apart, put it back together and voila. A working siphon valve. My bad for not removing one of my hoses from the faucet this year. Thanks for the video

    WOW!!! What a valuable video. Had no idea what the thing was called but was just about to start cutting up pipes in the basement to remove and replace the entire faucet. Glad I took a moment to check the internet first. Thank you.

    Thanks so much for posting this information.
    I was able to determine that the little float in the anti-siphon mechanism was crooked/jammed (due to freezing). Thanks to your video I was able to get it sorted out in minutes.
    In case people are not familiar with these faucets, you must remove the hose so that the water can drain out of the faucet to prevent freezing.
    The installer never advised us of this, and it seems to have caused our malfunction.
    Cheers!

    The local store didn't have the kits, so I just bought new "O" rings for my three faucets. $1.50 and they work like new. The old "O" rings were brittle and 2 were broken so I bought the really expensive ones. Thank you.

    Thank you for this great video. I went to my local Home Depot and bought the repair kit called Vacuum Breaker Kit for $2.68+tax. I had to use a slip-joint plier to remove the old assembly. Once the old assembly was removed, I could see two cracks in the gasket just like yours. Put in the new assembly. Tighten with the slip-joint plier. Screw on the plastic cap. Tada! Fixed!

    Thank you!!! I thought I needed a new value after it froze and was leaking out of the top. I followed your instructions and could see that the gasket had been pushed sideways. I was able to seat the gasket correctly and no more leaking! Fantastic video!!!!

    Thank you. This helped me take apart the anti-syphon part. My issue as it turned out was the rear rubber washer got stuck over the winter to the back seating. Once I pushed that in, it broke free and works fine.

    I know that there are a few different designs of these faucets. If you happen to have this same type and have a cracked washer, you can just purchase the washer that you need. I had this same type with a cracked washer and happened to have several spares in with my plumbing parts. It's a #00 faucet washer. In my case, I had to shave the raised numbers (00) off of the washer with a good sharp razor blade as they were allowing a small amount of water to get past. Once I did that, it was completely leak free! Thanks for the video! It was very helpful!

    Excellent video. Two unit owners in my condo building had a nasty surprise because they left their hoses connected all winter this past year (thus defeating the purpose of the anti-siphon valve)... they had big floods inside their condo units after they turned their hoses on in the spring -- the copper pipe behind the hose bib and inside the wall had cracked because of freezing temperatures. So yeah you gotta remember to remove your hose before freezing weather sets in. But now I am wondering if I should pre-emptively replace my vacuum breaker? It doesn't leak like in this video but I definitely don't want a flood in my home! How long do these vacuum breakers last, I wonder.

    Gawd I love youtube! This is exactly what I needed. My float valve was just jammed inside. The washer was in good condition. Reassembled the unit and voila! works like a charm. BTW you do NOT need to turn off the water supply to perform this operation. Thanks a bunch!

    For a simpler and way cheaper fix, assuming the plastic parts are good, just replace the bad seal. It is a 00 size faucet washer. Save 7$ thanks for the video as it led me to the solution.

    On mine I used needle nosed pliers to unscrew the plastic body. just open them up until the tips lock in to two of those square slots and twist the handles of the pliers.

  • @George14215
    @George14215 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks, I understand the purpose of the anti-siphon valve. Just not sure how it actually works given its location on the faucet.

    • @chrisgraham2904
      @chrisgraham2904 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What this video shows is the "vacuum breaker", not an "anti-siphon valve". Vacuum breaker just drains the water from the tube that goes through your wall so that water does not freeze in the tube. More expensive units that are equipped with an anti-siphon valve prevent standing water on the ground from being sucked back up the hose and into your household water supply.

    Did this fix work? I am having the same problem with mine. I spoke to the plumbing store that I bought the tap from and they said they see a lot of this. They also charged me a premium to buy what they called "the best" anti-syphon faucet.... what a crock. The thing lasted 2 years and it's buggered. It's code around here to only install these faucets and both of mine are leaking from that top valve.

      Actually I think I found it, If anyone else ends up needing it, the exact brand in your video is a B&K I think, and Ace Hardware has identical replacements for that valve (B&K Vacuum Breaker Repair Kit). Thanks for posting the video, without it I wouldn't have been able to track down the matching part!
