Lord, Girl, I felt like I was back in Nursing school!! Thank you so much for the refresher course. Storing those one ingredient products are the way to go. You may retire from the University, but I don't think you will ever retire from teaching! I love it!!
You may charge for your books, but the education we are receiving is priceless and much appreciated. Hey everyone, class is already started. 😊. Thank you Jim and Pam.
PLEASE, please do not stop teaching. I cannot believe how much I enjoy learning so many new things from you two. A good teacher holds her students spellbound, or at least returning to the classroom time and again. I think this is true in your case.
Thank you! This is the clearest most concise explanation I’ve ever seen on this topic. I also wanted to thank you for all your wonderful educational videos. I found your channel this year & have been building a pantry with what I’m learning. I recently became ill, I had all the essentials to see me through. 🥰
This information is going to be invaluable to our family's, friends', and our communities' future well-being--not to mention our own. Possibly even for our survival. Thank you for making this information available.
Way to go Jim. Thank you so much for the two day sale and a great big Happy Birthday sent your way. I had all planned what books I was going to buy on the black Friday sale and came down so sick I barely even knew I was in this world and missed it. So again thank you both for the Birthday sale.
I'm smiling ear to ear for you!!! It's absolutely beautiful and an awesome upgrade!! 👌 Thank you for all of your priceless information and time!! Love you Pam!! 🙏❤️
You are such a brilliant instructor. My first calling in the church after I got married was food storage, emergency preparedness, and some medical as I worked on the ambulance. I wish I could have explained things as well as you do. We all have our own talents, but I can see I have a lot to learn. Thank you. ❤
You are a brilliant professor! I love all of your videos, all the way back to the beginning, but this one was downright fun!!! Thank you Pam and Jim, as always! ❤️
Thank you so much for breaking this down into useful information and practical application. So appreciated!! Nutritional Yeast is also a flavorful complete protein source that is used often in vegan meal preparation.
Your happiness is contagious. I had an older doctor teach me this 40+ years ago. My daughter would not eat meat. I was concerned. He taught me about amino acids and incomplete and complete proteins. Peanut butter sandwich she would eat. Beans and cornbread she would eat. Milk was hit or miss. Great info for our friends that don't or didn't know this. Thanks y'all!
I read about amino acids way back in the 70’s in Francis Moore Lappe’s “Diet for a Small Planet”! So nice to get a refresher…and you did such a nice job of explaining it! Your students are so lucky to have had you for their teacher! Thanks so much for expanding your practice into a TH-cam channel so you can educate so many more of us! Once a teacher, always a teacher!
I have a bs in food science and nutrition and love learning. I remember acronym “PVT Tim Hall” for essential amino acids so fun. Thanks for all you teach love having found you and learning so much from your channel.
Your presentations are so educational and I appreciate the time you put in to making them. I also really like your new kitchen colors , and… 3 Weeks left 😊😊😊…may you enjoy your much deserved retirement from the university.
Diet for a Small Planet, first published in1971 (and which I purchased in 1973), has always been my amino acid bible! Just wish I still had that edition but it got ruined by Hurricane Hugo. Thanks for bringing this vital nutritional information to the preparedness community.
I was thinking of that book, a diet for a small planet as soon as Pam mentioned amino acids. I think that the reason we have gut problems are non food ingredients in processed foods and modern meds.
I have that book bought it in 1972 in paperback. Also the companion paperback Recipes for a Small Planet. Both books are very yellowed and the paper is brittle. I was very into nutritional science in the 70s. That love of nutritional science has stayed with me my whole life. I am 80 now. May you be blessed with good health.
Yours is my absolute favorite you tube/ homestead channel. I love how you research all your topics and present them in such an educated yet down to earth manner. I feel I can trust what you have to share and that's not always the case with some youtubers. Thank you for all you do!
I enjoy these videos so much. You are a wonderful teacher and your research is a blessing! Thank you and Jim for all you do to share your knowledge with us!
Rose red…. I can’t thank you enough for what I’ve learned from your videos, you’re great person, I bet you are a great teacher too and your students are very lucky to have you teaching them… regards from Monterrey, México
I LOVED this! As a science nerd myself, I appreciate very much your ability to relay this information to those who aren’t aware of it, in a way that makes it easy to understand. Keep up the GREAT work!
Pam, you've done it again. Another interesting and informative video on a subject I truly hadn't given much thought to. Thank you! Also, your kitchen is going to be fabulous. 😀
It sounds like that may very well be a good primer for amino acids, but that was also 50+ years ago. Think of all the research that has been done to improved our knowledge about amino acids and proteins. Thank you for watching our channel. Jim
Thank you for diving in to this matter. In 90's you could find plenty articles about amino acids and I read all I can get a hold to cause I was going to give up red meat (I did and 30 years going good as pesco-lacto- ovo vegetarian ). I've been looking for articles about this to prep up my memory and they are just nowhere to be found (easily). So thanks for doing the work and sharing the knowledge. Much appreciated! Greetings from snowy Finland.
Pam and Jim, the two of you are so precious! Thanks for the laugh when you could not pronounce that ingredient, and Jim when he lost control of his camera, laughing as well!
Pam, your knowledge and ability to teach so clearly and precisely, it’s a joy to watch your videos! When I see one pop up, I rush to open it!! Thank You Thank You Thank You!!❤️🙏🏻😊
Thank you so much, Pam, for the nutrition lesson! I’m very interested in nutrition. My mother and grandmother always focused on providing a balanced diet for their families and they passed that down to their children. My daughter loved the topic so much that she has a degree in nutrition. I agree, supplements are, for the most part, making expensive urine! However, I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and now have to take in extra building blocks for bone growth. There are other things I’m doing as well, including weight bearing exercise. This diagnosis has me analyzing the nutritional content of our food storage more carefully, as well as making sure I have the mineral supplements on hand.
I would love videos of you grinding, using and trying all your different storage grains. I just bought wheat berries but have no idea how they can be used. Both ground and whole. But also want to learn more about rye, corn and any other dry product that can be used ground or while. Thank you for all you do. Lots of work goes into every episode and even more love! You guys are amazing.
I just adore you. I've said it a million times! I would pay for you to put together a binder that has everything you think we need to survive off-grid. I would buy it in a heartbeat!
This was an excellent educational video! You are both so helpful. Thank you! Thank you! I’ve learned sooo much since I found your channel several months ago. I can’t thank you enough. Hugs to you both.
Thank you so much for another great video. This was is one of my favourite ones. I love that you gave real solid information and explained it so beautifully so that is easy to understand. It is the mark of a great teacher. Looking forward to the video on ancient grains.
I love your videos! I was laughing right along with Jim at your attempt to pronounce the ingredients in that can. I always learn something new from you, even when you are covering the basics.
I love learning/ refreshing something. I have adhd and you make it easy for me to understand. Thank you so much. It is nice to know I have been on the right track on my food storage.
Your video brought back memories from school. Professor asked what is a protein? Class was silent and I yelled a chain of amino acids ! Obviously I was the only one who read the required home work. Love your videos ! J
Thank you for all the hard work you do. All of this information is out there and available to all of us. Problem is very very few will take the time to look it up. Please enjoy your retirement and the time you and Jim have together. I love your channel, your books and your videos. It's nice having a smart friend
So Elegant is the perfect description. The painted reveal of red brick bay window area is gorgeous walls tie in beautifully! The lesson about Amino Acid & Food Storage is so excellent! Amino Acids are so Elegant is an absolute perfect description. 👏👏👏👏. Loved the fumble mumble of a difficult to pronounce ingredient ❤. Thank you for ALL you do! Hugs to you both!
Thank you for educating us with this fabulous and interesting information Pam! Thanks also for making the handout available to us. You are a wonderful teacher! Jim, your generous idea of a two-day sale sounds great. You are both appreciated more than you will ever know. 😊
Not an emoji showing me falling out of my recliner laughing at "Getting all of my protein from Jelly Beans!" OH and the ingredients - SO funny. I am going to download and copy this for EVERY Christmas card I send out, make sure that your site is mentioned. Thank you! God Bless and stay safe.
Loved this video so very much. Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge and teaching us from all places around the world. Please do not stop teaching. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have taught me. Which now I can pass the knowledge you’ve shared to my children and so on. Thank again ❤
Thanks so much, I was wondering about amino acids too. I had no clue what they were or how important they were for our bodies. Now I know. thanks again.👩🏽🌾👍🏽🙏🏽🧡
THANK YOU, again, Pam! I did know about "complete proteins" and have passed the info along, especially to those who needed to feed vegans/vegetarians, but I thought that you had to eat the combinations at the same time/meal. I am very interested in grains, and have put a number of different ones away. God bless you.
When I want sound advice...I always look to see what you have to say on the subject in which I'm interested. Thank you so very much for sharing your wealth of know, edge with all of us. You two are much appreciated.

Excellent explanation. Clear, concise and to the point. Thank you
Awesome simple explanations TY 👍💞🌻
Glad for you guys.

That looks beautiful so fresh and crisp
Thank you so much for this video. I have to keep track of my food intake and the program i use has too much protein to round off their percentages. I was concerned that I wasn't getting enough protein because I never get to the percentages they say. I see now that I have been doing just fine! Thank you so much!
