For gardeners I have 2 ideas. I bought trowel with slightly longer handle with stainless steel metal trowel. Now I found a longer handle and same stainless steel trowel made in England that I purchased from Baltimore Valley nursery on highway 45 north of Coburg, Ont. The trowel part accommodates your foot if need be. I planted all my 200 + garlic with this.
I bought my mom the swivel seat and car cane (you showed in the last video) and they've been a HUGE help! No one has to lift her legs in, or her out of the car.
I work in occupational therapy. The long handled sponges can also be used to safely reach your feet to wash & wrap a towel around it for drying feet. In a pinch a plastic bag will help someone slide on a car seat. It doesn't work as good as the swivel disc. I like the swivel disc's that can lock into place for safety. The sockaid is great for socks. Use a little baby powder if it sticks. Sock aids also help with TED hose/compression hose. Thanks! Great video!
For those that still struggle with compression hose even with a sock aid, Amazon has compression socks with zippers. There are sizes and strengths of compression. There are zipper socks for extra wide calves. They are great for those with arthritis or low strength.
I have a shower mat that is rough textured like an old fashioned doormat. I shoot a little liquid soap on the mat, shuffle around a little and, presto! Clean feet. I hold on to the grab bar while I do the shuffle. I purchased the mat at Amazon.

Oh, Pam, I purchased the toilet bowl light for my husband's Christmas stocking. It was meant to be a gag gift, but we both absolutely love it. No more flipping on the bathroom light in the middle of the night, and the different colors make it fun.
Ms. Pam, I have learned so much since I started watching your videos. That can opener was a dud for me. I've got that opener that attaches to the can but a different brand (needs a new battery, but I can get it open - "gettin old ain't for sisses", 75 in a couple of weeks; live alone).. Love that timer. I've also painted my house key with nail polish; makes it so much easier to find it (after 5 surgeries on my left eye, I have difficulty seeing). Thank you so much for all your wonderful and valuable videos; take care.
I’ve always been a nightlight lover. I have them all over the house. The ones I have change colors and you can set it to whichever color you like. They aren’t too bright, but they offer enough light to see what you’re doing. Had them for years and they keep going. LED lights. I love them.
Thanks for another gadget show and tell. These are so helpful. I also have a long handle shoe horn to get into my shoes. I can not wear the sneakers. Also, for those like me who wear socks around the house, get the ones with the little grippy circles on the bottom so you don't slip on the floors. They are also extra warm for those who have cold feet. Hope you and Jim have a very Blessed day.
Used to do physical therapy in home health visits...to help earn your mobility on a soft bed...if you happen to have a silky slip around (does anyone wear slips anymore?) They work well because the material slides easily on itself if you lay it under your buttocks when going to bed. You can slide a little up or down, and when you sit up, you can scoot closer to the edge or back from it.aids in turning from side to side without the heave ho lift and flop too. Generally a half slip size is enough. If you can find a midi skirt length on(not maxi) even better.
My husband and I love your gadgets Pam! They are so handy to know as you get older or have a disability. We bought the door handle device to help our friend get in and out of our car. Thank you for your help. Go gadget Pam!!
Another great one...thank you! I have my inlaws (both 91) covered for birthdays and Christmas! LOL One thing you reminded me of...elastic shoe strings for you sneakers! Very helpful!
One of the entrance doors to my house doesn't have a light...makes it difficult to get the key into the lock after dark. I found a battery operated "Keyhole Lamp Light". It's motion activated and comes with double sided adhesive patch to mount it. Mount it right above the keyhole. Just got it, works great! About $9 on Amazon.
I totally agree about that jar opener. The only thing it is good for is opening small lids, like a bottle of soda. I never once was able to open a jar with mine. And I used it the right way.
The best jar opener I have is similar to the OXO in the first video, but it mounts under your top cabinet. You just hold the bottle or jar up and twist. It is invisible under the cabinet!
ROSE ON JAR OPENER I USE A SODA CAN OPENER THE POINTED END SLIDE UNDER LID TO RELEASE AIR PRESSURE YOU CAN THEN JUST OPEN JAR OR USE THE JAR OPENER GIVE IT A TRY IT WORKS
When I had my total hip replacement I used the sock aid as you cannot bend in half for awhile as you can actually pop the replacement out of the socket and back to surgery you go.
My suggestion is a variation of usage. Pretty much all the DIY Home Improvement & Hardware Stores carry the Handicap enabler 2' to 6' Grab Bars for Showers, Tubs & around Toilets. Most people overlook the 8"-9" Grab Bars nearby. I don't overlook them now after a big Bar came off the wall during a Fall. The Grab Bar lived up to its name, but it didn't stop my Fall. I have since had the 9" thinner diameter Grab Bars with the round ball like ends mounted VERTICALLY everywhere in my house. When mounting them, we find a stud closest to the location where needed. Don't worry about finding the studs behind the wall board, the DIY Stores sell Stud Finders... that's how I found my husband. My toilet GB's are screwed vertically top & bottom to a stud, 6"-8" above the end of my knee when sitting on the throne. This puts it out of the way of your arms and is easy to lean forward and pull on the GB with no worries. It works in the reverse mode nicely, too. I have them on the inside & outside of door jambs leading into the house and one is mounted in line with the front of the tread for each stair step. When going up the stairs, the GB is good for holding tight &/or pulling yourself forward. When going down I use the round ball end to hold-on to & lower myself down. The thinner diameter and vertical mounting makes it easier to hold, it looks nice and is securely mounted to a stud. The bigger & longer diameter Grab Bars are hard to hold onto securely and most times one end or both are not secured or bolted to something solid.
Thanks so much for reviewing the sock gadget. I had been toying with getting it, but wasn’t 100% sure. Watching you use it sealed the deal for me - I’ll be getting that now! I would certainly appreciate more of these kinds of videos in the future. 👍🏻❤️🌹
Night lights are a great idea for everyone. Several of the older people in my life have taken tumbles in the middle of the night, one with tragic consequences, and I cant help but think nightlights may have prevented those accidents.
I have fallen several times in my home. Both of my knees are bone-on-bone so it’s really hard for me to get up. I read up on how to get up if you fall. One suggestion was if you’re near a bookcase to take books and slide them under your hips, lean one way and put a book and lean the other way and put another book. This is supposed to give you more leverage to get up. I wish that someone would just invent an in-home device that could be slid up under you and inflated or jacked up or something to help you up without calling for help.
Hi, you do get blow up cussions that inflate and brings the fallen person to a sitting position. However I'd reckon you'd need assistance with that. The UK ambulance service uses it.
Also there us a long handled leaf pick up tool, with telescoping handles, on Amazon. It looks like a tea bag squeezer. We had it for 3 years & love it. I cant get the pic on Amazon to this comment area. I sure live these helpful gadgets. Wonderful help. TY
I got my Mom the step ladder you had in the previous video. She thinks it's great. She can climb up and dust the ceiling fans and reach into tall cabinets. My Mom is only 4'11", so it's been a real help. What she needs is a foot care clipper set so she can reach her toes comfortably. I'm still looking. :)
Big, heavy laundry detergent? Transfer some to a smaller container. Even better, get laundry detergent sheets. LOVE these! Originally chose the sheets because I was space challenged, but the absolute ease of use is a game changer! Bonus - environmentally friendly. I bought the sock-helper. I thought it would never work, but it is great for pantyhose and socks.
These are great. I am getting the sock helper for my parents! That’s the one thing they talk about struggling with. Thank you for sharing. I use washi tape on my house door key to differentiate it from the others. The tape lasts a long time and it’s easy to replace it, and there are so many fun patterns ❤
A few of the things you've shown in both parts of these vlogs were introduced to me when I had my first hip replacement - - though I'm years out from my second hip replacement I still use them as I have now shrunk to 4 ft 9 in and, well you can imagine living alone and not being able to do many things that require height. Thanks for that timer gadget that will be my purchase.
Since the magnet broke off my can opener I keep a canning lid lifter handy for lifting lids etc. I don't need the clock yet but want one just because its such a good cute idea! 😊
Thank you! I just added the lotion applicator to my shopping list! A solution so obviously simple but never thought of it before. The one I’m eyeing off has spare applicator sponges so I can apply things like SPF sun cream with one and with a second sponge, anti itch cream on a mozzie bite on my back on the same day and still have a fresh sponge for body lotion after my nightly shower then wash the lot! And still have one sponge to spare. Thank you!! 🙏
I love these gadgets but I will admit that I was a little sad to think that Im single and will 'need' a few of these soon. I have had night lites since I was 25 yrs old. They have become less bright but even when they were bright I would place one in a place that would not bother me. Lucky me that I kinda have cat eyes and I have good spacial awareness of my surroundings much like a blind person. Not everyone has this ability so Im thankful to have it. Im glad you gave in to night lites my dear. I would hate to find out that you had a bad fall and hurt yourself.
I love the gadgets. I use that little red can opener on those really big cans of fruit. The ones that they use to use in school cafeterias. They are so big and that opener just circles around it and poof it’s open.
I’ve been doing the nail polish tip for many years. I even put a dot on my gym locker lock since several people have the same lock. This way it’s quick to find. Thanks Pam and Jim!
The 'lotion' applicator could work with OINTMENT on backs. I use SHINY/BRIGHT nail polish, (some I got for $.50-$1) to mark the top of the ends of electric cords so I don't have to fumble or try more than once to plug them in. BRILLIANT about the locks!
You are the best! 73 here bought my 72 oldster sister the “I have fallen and need to get up stick” for Christmas! That jar opener would never work for me, I have little arthritic hands and no grip on the wide end. Now I have to get my sister that sock thing!! She has a few oldster issues and socks are not her friend soooo her birthday she gets the sock thing 😁thank you both for the fun and kool stuff to try!!
Although they work well, I had severe problems replacing the batteries in that style of battery operated can opener. After trying two different brands, I switched to one that plugs into an outlet. It also does the non-sharp edges and has the added benefit of being much faster than the battery operated ones. This is the one that I have: Hamilton Beach Smooth Touch Can Opener, Model 76606Z
I purchased that exact Sock Aid on Nov 19, 2019 (according to AMAZON) I love it I use it all the time when I need to wear socks. I could not wear socks without that aid. I also have the slide in Shoes. I love both of them. I also just purchased the can opener. The one I have similar to that one does not work for me. It keeps hanging up. I did notice if I back it up it I sometimes can get it off. Last video I did order the step ladder and love it I keep it in my dining area where I have my tall shelves. I also purchased the car aid but haven't tried it yet I thought it was something I need when driving my son-in-law's car. I am ok from my minivan.
The 2nd piece that goes with the jar opener that you didn't like is perfect for opening the cap on a milk carton. After you get the cap off, the flip piece will pull the tab off. This helps me greatly.
❤I had spine surgery and live alone, and unable to dress my feet n cut my toenails, I found a toenail extention cutter on Amazon. What a great device, and during surgery, I lost some mobility in my right side, and this I can operate with a hand that doesn't have much strength, and cut my toenails.
Hahaha The toilet bowl illuminator made me laugh out loud. Little kids would sure get a kick out of that one too! I really like that can opener you showed - it kinda made me wince when you ran your finger across the lid & can, but wow - guess it really doesn't leave any jagged edges. Awesome! Your bright snazzy socks were so colorful, Pam...hard to lose those in the washer/dryer! haha Thanks to you and Jim for another fun and informative video!
My husband had a stroke. Putting socks on someone else is so difficult. I was given one of these sock gadgets by the physical therapist. It loved it. Made life so much easier. The ones that look like very long tongue depresses with a cup at the bottom, I was not impressed with but this one was a joy.
So funny, my brother in law this past year, had those toilet seat lights. I like them so well, I got me some too😊 No one has come over yet but will be wired when they do. You can also bend them to fit the toilet bowl better. I found I wanted it to lay more squared off the to poke out. I have to clean it when I clean the whole toilet. Live them though❤💙🩷💜
I bought a jar opener that is battery powered it is called robo twist. There are other brands but this works so well. If it doesn't open the jar I just rap the top of the jar lid down flat on the counter 3 times and try again. It works for me every time.
I found soaking the lid in hot water first helped to pre-losen the seal for stubborn ones. The battery one works on most jars, except some teeny tiny lids, which require the hot water soak. (usually condiments)
I use a similar one just for opening bottle tops. Like milk or protein drinks or water...the lids are too small for me to get open...it also doesn't require you to open your hand so much. I would not have been ale to open that jar that Pam tried.
Fine gadgets, thanks. The nailpolish I also use when I buy a new gadget with a wire that goes off, same colour at both ends, and of course I now have a rainbow in polish, but if needed I use two colours. Night lights are fine and could also be the strips along the floor
Great video. So appreciate these. I bought the opener from the first video and going to get the car door assist device. I also got the reachers as I am very short. Need something to help get back up after having to get on the floor. Thanks! 👍👍
Great video. I live alone. Would love to see a gadget that would assist in zipping up a back zipper on clothing. I have several dresses that zip in the back. So far I’ve been able to get them zipped, but it isn’t always easy!
My Chevy van hasn't a left hand (driver's side door) assist handle on the door frame. The passenger side door does, and it makes getting into the van so much easier. I loved the gadget you demonstrated that fits on the door latch, but I need something for my left hand to grip when getting into the driver's side front seat. Have any ideas? I just love your channel. God bless you and yours and adventure on!!
My favorite way to open jars is to use a canning jar opener. You do it just like you do it with those lids. It breaks the seal without damage to the lid. Only thing it doesn’t work with is like peanut butter jars but those aren’t as difficult anyways.
The easiest way to open a jar is to turn it upside down and release the seal with a triangular can opener. It is the kind of opener that used to be used to open a can of juice leaving a triangular hole. Insert the point of the triangle under the lid. Move the opener a little and it will release the seal and pressure. Turn the jar right side up and open it. It will open quite easily.
We got the ladder and your suggested jar opener! PERFECT! 😊 Alberta 🇨🇦

That lid opener didn’t work for me either. I have that sock helper and just love it. Love these videos so helpful for us older folks.
My husband and I love your gadgets Pam! They are so handy to know as you get older or have a disability. We bought the door handle device to help our friend get in and out of our car. Thank you for your help. Go gadget Pam!!
Broke my hip in February and the hospital gave me one of those to put my socks on . Could not live without it . 73 year old male, lives alone .
Another great one...thank you! I have my inlaws (both 91) covered for birthdays and Christmas! LOL One thing you reminded me of...elastic shoe strings for you sneakers! Very helpful!

Thanks for the reminder! I forgot about using a "church key" to break the seal on a jar. You're right...very easy solution.

Hi, you do get blow up cussions that inflate and brings the fallen person to a sitting position. However I'd reckon you'd need assistance with that. The UK ambulance service uses it.
Your videos are always so helpful to everyone ❤
Also there us a long handled leaf pick up tool, with telescoping handles, on Amazon. It looks like a tea bag squeezer. We had it for 3 years & love it. I cant get the pic on Amazon to this comment area. I sure live these helpful gadgets. Wonderful help. TY
That timer clock is cool!
Very helpful, thank you. I will probably purchase three or four of these things.
We got the toilet bowl light years ago as a joke from my brother. We love it too and have kept one in the bathrooms ever since.
I got my Mom the step ladder you had in the previous video. She thinks it's great. She can climb up and dust the ceiling fans and reach into tall cabinets. I use my Cookwise mason jar opener to break the seal on the screw on lids. It works very well and doesn’t damage the lids. I bought mine on Amazon
Thank you so much for this video! I immediately ordered the can opener and it is shipped intercontinentally! Can't wait!
Another great video! We bought the step ladder that you showed last time, and we love it. The handles definitely make me feel safer.
I use an opener for canning lids for store bought jar lids to break the seal. Then I can open the jar with ease! 😊
These are all great! Love the lazy susan seat!!

I think the can opener is #1. Thanks so much. Loved today's video....
I love that clock / timer! I don’t need it but might have to buy it. :)
Thank you so much for these very helpful videos. I'm going to be looking at a couple of these to get for my sweet MIL & for us too.

Love the lotion applicator & timmer was a cool gadget for kids doing homework or chores. ❤
There is a jar opener available like your can opener. Runs on batteries. Put it on the jar and push the button. Works great!
Great video! I just love y’all❣️ love your sweet attitudes and your desire to inform and help us out!!
I have used that lotion applicator and loved it
I purchased that exact Sock Aid on Nov 19, 2019 (according to AMAZON) I love it I use it all the time when I need to wear socks. I could not wear socks without that aid. I also have the slide in Shoes. I love both of them.
I also just purchased the can opener. The one I have similar to that one does not work for me. It keeps hanging up. I did notice if I back it up it I sometimes can get it off.

❤ Thank You! Thank you! Thank you! The sock and can opener are definitely something I’m going to try. Thank you again. ❤
I love the sock helpers and I definitely need the toilet bowl night light for my hubby 😅😅
Thank you for the links for buying these items.
You just trickle me ❤
Thanks Rose!!
I have the lotion applicator and love it. I wash it every so often to get the old lotion off that doesn’t rub onto your back.
Great video and practical ideas! Keep 'em coming!
Thank you for everything!! Just this week said I needed to get something for my itchy back😊
I use the sock assistant device for one foot that I have too much pain bending over to put a sock on. It works great and am happy to have it.
Great ideas, Pam & Jim! Thank you, I love your channel! Always sharing to friends & family!❤
Pam, Loud nail polish colors can be found at Dollar Tree
The jar opener that looks like a triangle with a handle that you get from pampered chef works excellently
My husband had a stroke. Putting socks on someone else is so difficult. I was given one of these sock gadgets by the physical therapist. It loved it. Made life so much easier. The ones that look like very long tongue depresses with a cup at the bottom, I was not impressed with but this one was a joy.
Great demonstration. Love the gadgets and already have used a few. Thank you for sharing and please update us if you find more.😊
You are the BEST!👍🏻 I will be checking out some these helpers😘
I have a can opener like rest from pampered chef I love it! I have had it for several years and it still works great
So funny, my brother in law this past year, had those toilet seat lights. I like them so well, I got me some too😊 No one has come over yet but will be wired when they do. You can also bend them to fit the toilet bowl better. I found I wanted it to lay more squared off the to poke out. I have to clean it when I clean the whole toilet. Live them though❤💙🩷💜
another informative and fun video. thanks.
Excellent video!
I bought a jar opener that is battery powered it is called robo twist. There are other brands but this works so well. If it doesn't open the jar I just rap the top of the jar lid down flat on the counter 3 times and try again. It works for me every time.
Rose I too struggle with the blue can opener.
I got new sinks with a gooseneck faucet so it is about 12" above the sink. They also have LED lights in the faucet whenever the water comes on!!
Fine gadgets, thanks. The nailpolish I also use when I buy a new gadget with a wire that goes off, same colour at both ends, and of course I now have a rainbow in polish, but if needed I use two colours. Night lights are fine and could also be the strips along the floor
You’re looking very well!
I love the toilet bowl light!
I just bought sock aid and can opener. Opening cans and putting on socks have been very difficult after car accident. Thank you!
Great video. So appreciate these. I bought the opener from the first video and going to get the car door assist device. I also got the reachers as I am very short. Need something to help get back up after having to get on the floor. Thanks! 👍👍
Thank you, this was great 👍🏻
ordered the clock and passed on several other gadgets to others from part 1 and 2...THANKS. When you need them you need them....
These are great! ❤
Bang or tap the jar lid a couple of times first. I use one of those elastic bands they use on your arm before taking blood - wonderful!
I have that lotion applicator and it’s so great for dry winter skin!
I have the sock thing!😊
Loved the gadgets and helpful info

WOW, Great vlog...
Some of these items I had no idea... Thank you. Always #teamcantrell❤
I got the button aid from your last video for my Dad. He lost some dexterity in his fingers due to a stroke. It works well for him.
