  • #Remove old fungus In Micro-NIKKOR 55mm 1:3.5, there was a lot of fungus on the front lens group, ONLY!... So in this video I will show how it's possible the remove it with some Hydrogen Peroxide 3%, and do the final cleaning with "Eclipse" lens cleaning fluid.
It turned out to be very good, and without damage the coating at all.

Hey Kenneth, thanks so much for your content. I am so happy that I found someone to share the passion for old lenses. I found a nikon 24mm 2.0 at the flee market, when I tried to open it I found out thet the little screw beneath the rubber cover was broken. Can I unscrew the front element anyway, or shoud this screw come loose first. How can I get this Thing out of there?
    Thanks.

I have made some videos about the different 24mm lenses, one is here and it shows how to open the lens and cleaning the lens elements: th-cam.com/video/k36gZiHLpcM/w-d-xo.html
About the very little set screw, you can try to use a few drops of little Isopropylalcohol or nail polish remover with Acetone to soften the thread lock, if there is something on. In that way you should be able to unscrew it with a 1,2mm flat head screw driver, sometime it can be a little tricky to unscrew it but with some paitence it should be possible. In worst (and last) case you need to very carefully drill it out.
NOTE: remember to take a lot of pictures during the process and set small marks BEFORE take apart the focus helicoids, this lens has the special CRC focusing system, that I also tell about in this video:

Here are some really good website from Richard Haw, hi has a lot of good repair information about many Nikkor lenses:

    Hi Kenneth.
Have you tried those W5 "glasses wipes" from Lidl for lens cleaning?
They are wet wipes in a box of 54 pieces. And they are cheap. Around 1 euro/box.
They clean pretty well, but they also dry out quick. After that, you are left with a hard paper.
But maybe they still can be used with lighter fluid, or such.
I'm really qurious about your opinion.
    Thanks.

Hello. I have the Nikkor 55mm f2.8 (manual focus one) that has a little of fungus. Do you know if the assembly / disassembly is the same like this f3.5 lens?
