Georgis on my mind is a song ive been waiting to find a good tutorial for… and you are my favorite piano channel.. i probably am at the level were I should start trying to learn through a book or by ear though
As always your tutorials are excellent. Can you do a tutorial of the song "Like someone in love". Would also love to see a tutorial on the song "All of me" as well. Thank you, your videos are invaluable to an aspiring jazz pianist like me. I am very bad at music theory, but your videos make it easier to understand.
The sweetest and most pianistic version is H Carmichael's self accompaniment version - you come very close at times other you tubers do not and can't seem to forget R Charles version if not, I think, mistakenly consider it the best. Hoagy Carmichael is the composer.
This is a brilliant tutorial. Your simple explanations and break down of complicated structures and arrangements makes jazz more accessible to musicians and beginners that otherwise wouldn't get it!
Can anyone point me to a pdf of the lead sheet being used in this video? Or a book that this version is printed in? All the versions I can find are slightly different to this one
He descubierto tu canal y es un sueño para mí tocar así , me falta mucho pero no pierdo las esperanzas de seguir preparándome . Muchas gracias y felicidades trataré de aprenderte .😊
Hi, I need a little help with bars 5-8. How do you know if the progression is a 3-6-5-1, and not two 2-5s? Also, how would you know if the 9ths are flatted in the dominants or not. It sounded like on the last am-d7, you flatted the 9th on the chord? I also saw a guide playing the D7 as a flat ninth, but that wouldn't make sense since the melody note is a natural e, not flat e. Hope you can help me out. Thank you
Of course 36 is also a 25 leading to the 2. Still, 36 is stronger than 25 in a different key since the 36 is part of the original key. So the same scale, just shifted. Flat 9ths are mostly a tension note on a dominant, your choice whether to put it in, also depending on whether the melody note is the b9. Note the similarity of the b9 chords and fully diminished ones, quite interchangeable if you reharmonize a little bit. And from there you could jump into the world of Barry Harris movements from M6 and diminished sequences.
Thanks man I finally got it after decades of busting my head and giving up.. man i finally play it and I play it like you man. I owe you big one and I mean it. Thank you
("NO")? It IS played in G on the piano and the actual record. Concert piano pitch/whatever. Its G not F. TH-cam the actual song. The chord progression lesson is great and all but the real song is on G. This tutorial is in the wrong key play along to any other backing track and it's obvious. @robertduis6730
Lost me when you put the melody to the voicings. I feel there is a step missing. Go through the spread voicings for all the chords then add the melody. I understood it up till that point then my brain was fried!!
Chapters:

Also, thanks for not showing off. You make it simple and understandable.
That alone is priceless !

I like your style of playing Georgia on my mind. The problem I’m having stride is playing the 10 note chord cause I have small hands.
@@shamanbeartwo3819 yes that’s what I do roll the 10th.
So beautifully arranged! Excellent lesson! 🎉 Thank you!

Great tutorial! Comparing uninverted block chords progressions with voice lead ones is a bit of cheating though.
Great lesson!

Cool. The whole arrangement has a real 'Dr. John' kinda feel.

Wrong key it's played on G not f
NO ! F is the correct KEY! Maybe YOU play Trumpet /Clarinet / Tenor Sax and than YOU play in G.
