Sounds pretty bright to me even though it has the larger taper to the bell. Would you say that a Bach 37 has a much darker tone that this? It seems like these Thane trumpets might be more of a lead trumpet than something good for orchestral playing. What are your thoughts on Thane trumpets for orchestra? EDIT: I'm still getting used to comparing trumpet timbre over video :P
@@austincustom @KoopaCamper I have owned my Thane standard model large taper red brass bell trumpet for 15 months now, and in that time not one person who has heard it or tried it has found it to have a bright sound. If anything, they think it is darker than Bach 37 and similar horns. However, Thane trumpets respond to timbre changes of different mouthpieces, as Trent showed when switching to a lead mouthpiece. That adds to the versatility, in that changing a cup or backbore allows you to adapt to varying playing situations.
This horn is absolutely awesome! Check it out at: www.austincustombrass.biz/thane-standard-series-trumpet-with-large-taper-bell-a-great-player/
I've had mine for 5 days now and the Thane trumpet is one hell of a horn, I'm impressed! Very easy to play, all the notes are in this horn.
Thanks so much Jim! Logan is making truly world-class instruments.
Sounds like a nice affordable option for those people not slaved to brands B or Y.
Absolutely and it's already sold!
I love all the trumpet videos, but I would really like to see a guide in how you record your videos. Just a request 😀
This is an older setup but here ya go th-cam.com/video/nHBpVGEmNSI/w-d-xo.html

I think that's more of my mic and my playing than the actual horn... I think this is a well rounded sound for sure.
