A very nice horn here from a new custom trumpet maker, Logan Thane. I believe Logan worked with Dave Monette prior to developing his own line of horns. At any rate, he's got a really superb player here! Played with the following:
GR64M-B: 2:10
Reeves C2J: 3:33
Trent Austin's TA/TF: 6:55
Reeves 42B: 8:28
GR64MS: 12:40
GR63Z: 14:05

And don't forget our friends at CenTex Brass - they have many, many resale horns and are a genuine pleasure to work with! centexbrass.co...
Jon that really pops with the Reeves C2J piece. Very nice. All sound good!!!!!
Thanks, Heather. I have to say, while I'm very fond of my GR64 Medium Shallow piece, the C2J and the TA/TF do put out a nice sound, don't they? I'm trying to really fill the horn when I play with them so I don't sound anemic, and so the full benefit of the dark tone comes through. :)
@@JonathanMilam1 not anemic at all. Good full resonant sound. 😀😀😀
Jon you sounded terrific as always. How does this horn stack up against some of the more recent horns you’ve played, like the Bach 25?
Great question. I think this horn is a bit easier to play than most Strads I’ve had. Probably a bit darker tone, too. But I can get a little bite, just a certain sound that I like out of a Strad, and I’ve got 4 MK slides that let me color my Strads… For that reason I’m sticking with Strads. One on one, this Thane might beat my Strad 25. It really is that Good. Also, I compared the Thane bell to a Strad 72 today; I think the Thane throat is bigger, but it still is an easy horn to play, not too big a blow at all. Again - great question. I’ll compare it to some other horns in future vids.
@@JonathanMilam1thank you for the detailed response! I really appreciate it!
Here's a vid comparing the Thane to the Mt Vernon Strad, the Elkhart L bore, and the Edwards Gen II. :) Enjoy!
