To make this a little bit easier, when Balteus is staggered try to hit him in the back with the laser cannons. It does a lot more damage there

The Dam mission is the fastest mission to complete for the amount of money you get. First area detroy all the mechs and the generator 2nd and 3rd just destroy the generators and mission over.
Honestly I find destroying the strider mission far easier and faster. Just go left on "spawn" until your behind it and the eye won't hit you and you can take out its leg quickly
If you JUST cant quite win this fight with this build, try switching out the laser sword and plasma rifle for a bazooka/grenade launcher. I used uncharged attacks from the shoulder cannons and then would burst with the pother two guns once he was stunned. Thanks for the build dude, after tweaking it to my style I was able to get it first try!
Insanely easy fight especially if you knowhow to use boost kick with combos
Yup, the two laser cannons, plasma rifle and bazooka worked for me after about half an hour of trying with the bubble gun. Took its shield down pretty fast, gave it some charged blasts once it fell and that was it.
Found that using the bubble gun worked wonders instead of the purple cannon. Getting the shield down that much quicker was nice.
Cannon longer range, bubble blower hella close range. I tried both and while I agree, ultimately I'd still go with the cannons.

You can add some OS Tuning from Chapter 1 to this as well. You can add Assault Armor to this to break his shield at the beginning of the fight when you rush under his first missile barrage. You can also add "kick" for when you Assault Boost to close in on him during his second phase. Makes the cheese a little easier.

@@chrisstevens8087 Yes, its "Y" or "triangle" on controler or "F" on keyboard. It says it on the bottom of the screen when your in the OS menu.
@@chrisstevens8087 Yes, in the OS Tuning menu, look to the bottom and there is a button mapped to "Reset OS Tuning Points" or similar. It costs COAM but not much.
How do you get him to stay so close to you? Ill fly at him hit him a few times then he'll fly to one of the opposite corners of the map over and over again

He is still kicking my ass but I haven’t got the exact build, I have the weapons and tracks but that’s it.
The key is dodging through the missiles at an forward + upward, diagonal angle. Otherwise they take off way too much damage to survive the encounter.
Try not to get hit as much so he doesnt stamina break you

I’ve beaten the game twice so far. I recommend using shotguns, but idk if any are available by Balteus. If not, getting underneath balteus and using high damage attacks works really well. Once you’re underneath him he basically gets stunlocked and dies, just dodge the big aoe attack. Even his flame sword thingy won’t hit you if you stay underneath him
NG+ so I kept all my stuff from the first run. I haven't bothered to make a new one cause I'm going for NG++. So idk when shotguns become available cause I never used them before late game.@@Wunderhass
You get a shotgun in chapter one for sure, maybe the laser shot too but could be after this fight

Yeah you get one set of shotguns. If you use weapon bays the set of shotguns you have early on are very fast swapping so you can rotate the reload with several weapons for combos
Ive been stuck for on Balteus for 3 days. I just beat it. I used two bubble guns, instead of sword and rifle. The build checks out mostly. Stay close, dodge rockets and MAINLY keep it staggered.
Glad I’m not the only one that calls it the bubble gun. I’m not there yet but I heard it melts his shield bar.

i beat Balteus with the bubble gun and shotgun, my brother said it was impossible but i did it. Lots of evasive maneuvers tho.
But how do you evade nonstopp rockets that chase you even if you dodged them once before and then he just spamms his cannon once my energy for evading is depleted. if i charge him with a sword he will either fly away or hit me before i hit him :( So annoying how they can spamm their abilitys nonstop.@@Blackfang_12
This still took me a LOT of tries because he kept flying literally to the other end of the map, and I only beat him by switching right hand weapon to the bubble gun (which has shorter range but drains the stagger gauge nonstop).
Like other people said, stay as close as possible and try to laser sword him as much as possible. When he’s staggered, fucking mash all the buttons until he recovers. If you dodge when he know he’s about to, sometimes you’ll stay next to him and get another sword chance and can just tap all the buttons to shoot him point blank.
Assault armor is a huge help, you buy it with chips from the arena. It does enough AOE damage to get him 70% staggered, *and* cancels all incoming attacks. It might be smart to save it for the second half of his health bar when you want to reduce the time you’re trying to stagger him while he goes bonkers with flames and missiles. (Don’t forget you have to equip it in the expansion slot).
Just like the fight immediately before this, sometimes he makes it way easier to stay close and overwhelm him. Sometimes you fight him and he zooms 500 feet away whenever you get near.

OK, this worked on the first try and I love you. I've fought this guy so many times. SO MANY TIMES. I went back to grind for new gear on three different occasions. This build saved me from giving up the game in frustration. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
People who can’t beat it with this build aren’t playing it right. I literally did EXACTLY what did this guy did from the get go and beat in one try (after a few fumbled attempts trying to do it my own way). You gotta boost through most of those missiles and then hammer the shit out of him with your weapons. You’ll get it eventually, this build did it for me.
My build was very similar, except I was bipedal. I used all laser rifles though. The trick is not charging the laser cannons on your back to full power, but rather just doing quick shots to bring his shields down fast. If he's frozen and you can get a big blast off then go for it. The nice thing about all laser rifles is that you can pretty much do damage 100% of the time.

This build did help me. I found that OS tuning for assault armor and kick helped. Laser on each shoulder, bubble gun in one hand, and pulse rifle in the other. When i staggered him i hit him with charged lasers. Once he starts with the fire whip, you just gotta fly above him

Its not reflexes when the hitbox of his attacks are half the arena
I was able to beat him with a build that is all the strongest stagger weapons, 2 8x missile launchers, laser sword, and bazooka. All are slow to reload, but if you attack with missiles at range, and close in to hit him with the sword, then bazooka (you don't take damage at close range from it), you can stagger him 2 or 3 times before he recovers the shield. It's all in the timing of your volleys.
Took me only two attempts after taking this advice. As someone brand new to the franchise, thank you. This was very helpful.

Oh man, with this method, this boss was easy as........ I swapped sword with bubble gun. Spamming shoulder cannons with plasma rifle while keep holding the bubble gun.
The battle was finished before it felt even challenging.
Which made my previous 2 hours of trying with precise aiming and dodging seemed pointless, and it was pointless as I couldn't even get its hp down to 40%......
I'm thankful that I passed this boss, but boy do I have mixed feelings
This still didn't work for me.
Went back to a mid-range bipedal, two plasma launchers on the shoulders and shotgun in each hand. Nailed Balteus on the first go.
Plasmas pop his shields, homing ability means you hardly ever miss and there's plenty of ammo to last.
Shotguns when you're up close and he's shieldless.
The missiles are easy to dodge, don't be intimidated. It's most dangerous attack is the bazooka, get used to jumping and hovering. Keep EN in the tank for when the flame sword or pulse blast comes out.
Quickest way to take down the shield is dual the microwave gun's (seriously) shoulders these same lazers. Take the shield down and just keep lazering. Don't charge them
There is a pulse gun you can buy for each hand, use it, melts shield, then use shoulder lasers, they're the dmg dealers period. Medium mech legs the ones that start with M, you'll see which gen to use etc to make the setup work. Boom, he's dead. Thats the beauty of the game, your cheese build works for you and there are yet other ways made to melt him.

This might just be me, but I found that a build consisting of:
[The starting AR,
The same laser sword,
Starting missile launcher,
Pulse missile launcher,
The fist reverse jojnt legs you can buy
Highest possible AP whilst not being overweighted,
I forgot the other stuff,
Turn your AC into an EMP]
Wotked ghe best for me. The problem with using bipedal legs or tank tracks is that you trade dodging more attacks to being able to tank a few more attacks. Furthermore, with a tank build its almost impossible dodging the flamethrower attacks where its a pincer or where he burns the ground. With bipedal legs you can dodge most attacks, only taking damage from the attacks where he uses a shit ton of homing missiles or splash damage from explosions.
Here's the tactics I used:
At the start of the fight use both shoulder weapons while combat boosting forwards, then dodge left using the thumbstick to avoid the vertical missiles, hold L2/LB to use the sword's charge attack (only use this sword attack). Now the fight has actually begun. Try to avoid using your AR to save ammo, only using it while he is vunerable and at medium to close range to get the best damage out of it. If you see openings, use your sword. Spam the shoulder explosive missiles when possible and the pulse missiles just before and during him being covered by the shield. When he moves around the map (in phase 1) chase his ass down and cut him up with that extremely strong sword). Phase 2 doesn't always start with ab EMP so at around 50% health keep medium distance until you are certain which phase he is in. After he uses his EMP, find an opening and use your own. He always starts phase 2 with gattling guns whilst moving, into a diagonal downwards flamethrower swing, into one or two shotgun shots, into one side horizontal missiles. After this he usually does a 3 swing flamethrower combo but it might be RNG. Keep distance from the flamethrower swings and dash into whichever side the swing initially started from. Remember, no i-frames in AC6. He has two more attacks involving his flamethrowers: he will either do a vertical attack which burns the ground into using his flamethrowers from range, or a horizontal pincer attack. The pincer attack is the best one, because it is easily dodged even when dealing with delayed missile attacks and opens him up to sword attacks. To recap: at the start of phase 2 he will use a specific flamethrower combo, after that both normal and flamethrower attacks. Keep far range and only close the distance immediately after the last flamethrower attack in a combo.
Good luck. It might take 48 deaths but you will eventually succeed.
Great build! I was able to beat Balteus without it! I found that applying pressure and simply unloading your ACs abilities as soon as they recharge is the way to go! Cheers 🍻

Can confirm I beat Balteus with this build, mostly by keeping at optimal range and spamming the shoulder weapons. Adding assault armor to this build adds a little burst of damage. As a bonus, this build melts all the level E arena fights too.
Dude, thanks for this. Worked like a charm on the first attempt. I just followed your build and once the fight started I stepped on the gas never letting up. I actually struggled a good bit last night, but eventually had to give up so I could get some sleep in before work the next day. I stewed over it quite a bit today while working and eventually caught your video. And yea, super easy this go around.

I finally won using that build, but I used a pulse gun instead of the sword. The enemy just moved out of range too fast for me to get a good hit, and during the second phase, trying to stay close to it just got me obliterated by the fire sword attacks.
Took me a couple tries but this worked. I ended up swapping the sword for a second plasma gun though since i had a hard time keeping balteus close enough to really capitalize on melee.

Used your build, but had to take out the laser sword for the grenade launcher as I couldn’t get him him to connect. Trick I found is you hit eat button in clockwise motion to get his health down.

Everyone keeps recommending the tank build, but I'd much more recommend the Nachtreiher build for all the skilled Soulsborne vets playing. Duel wield shotguns, plasma guns and the laser blade (what ever combo works for you). Get in close and personal using the close quarters combat chip...don't waste shotgun ammo at range, switch to plasma for mid range but they work close up too.
Note, I tried exclusively with duel shotguns and the laser sword and did pretty well with ONE SHOT left. 😅
It’s a testament to how great this game is that I’ve easily whiffed 30+ attempts at Balteus and am still enjoying each time I try again. But for real, thanks for this! I’m going to try some other builds first, but it’s nice to know I can fall back on this strategy if I get well and truly stuck.

I beat this boss with a not so good build but yeah the trick i did was rushing at the boss. I didn’t even noticed the 2nd phase where boss has flamethrower and fire melee attacks.
Oh and this build looks awesome with the tank legs and the amount of movability you have its great.
It took me 3 days to beat this monster. I thought Orphan of Kos, Slave Knight Gael, and Malenia were really tough but they didn't take near as long. Those fights were slow motion compared to this guy. It could be that I'm just trash, though. I bet he gets nerfed in an update.
Grinding my teeth at this guy last evening....I'll give this build a shot. I was soooooooooooo close like 1/16 of his health with twin plasmas, 16 vert rockets...medium build. I'll try this tanky dude! Thanks!

For people still having trouble with this build and beat the boss the secret is to spam your buttons as much as possible especially when you stun him
100% this and sniff his pits first stage and second stage is keep away.
Honestly, the best way to beat this boss is sheer overwhelming force and keeping it stun locked as long as possible, otherwise it has the opportunity to use all of it’s bs borderline undodgable attacks. Idgaf what anyone says 0.6 seconds to see a “telegraphed” move, register it, and evade it is not feasible. Especially in a game THIS fucking CHAOTIC with this much shit on the fucking screen
Thank is to you I finally handed Balteus his arse. Much appreciated. For anyone unable to outrun the fire or dodge the missiles I just got in close and spammed everything leaving the charged blade for when I knew it would hit. This kept him in stagger for most of the fight.
It's better to have two lazor rifles and two back cannons, you can go though the whole game with this build easy.

All right, I just beat him with this build. It took about 4 to 5 tries after I did the build. And yeah just keep getting right up in his face and swing and fire. I got the VP 20D generator. Fsc fc-006 abbot, also I used the assault armor expansion
Defeated balteus using high mobility ac.
Same blade. And the pulse gun that you advised not to use.
And 2 vertical missiles. Doesn't need to tank dodging is easy because of how light my ac was.
Oh good man, you are a saint! With this build I beat Balteus after 4 tries. While with my builds had over 20 attempts and nothing helped. Praise you and your children, health and wealth be upon you and your seed.
You don't need to spam just one mission... playing all of them trying to get 'S' Class is enough to gain a lot of credits. This game is best approached trying to master the controls, loadouts, and combos; not just playing one mission because it rewards you the most.

I got him with two laser rifles and 2 laser canons and basically just fired nonstop at him. I couldn't follow your build exactly cause I didn't want to restart the whole mission to buy the parts I didn't have, however your video was helpful thank you.

So, I didn't do the build...but the tactics involved are sound. Keep the pressure on it, get underneath & close the gap to avoid the missiles, whack away with the blade & then offload everything you have when the shield comes down

Yeah he moves way too much…and this is a tank….so I get hit repeatedly. Exact same build but on here he kindly stayed quite close to you. Mine was skirting the arena the whole time whilst pelting me.
Huge massive mistake in editing for this video. I accidentally let the starting clip play for 2 minutes, it was only supposed to be a 15 second clip. The build can be seen for like 1 second at the start of the video. I don't really have any way I can fix this, this is why I shouldn't stay up until 4AM working on videos, I don't know how I didn't catch this.

@@ebaymanagain for the right arm it's the Vvc-760PR plasma rifle (but I used the HU-16:GU-Q1 Pulse gun. Works better at disabling his shield)
The left Arm is the HI-32:BU-TT/A pulse blade - the upgrade to your sword
The back is the VP-60LCS rail guns
The body is currently the one that provides the most AP available
I found this yesterday, watched it, bought all the parts... and then killed him on my last run before switching to the cheesy build and my first run tonight lol
I had the opposite experience with the laser blade. I could barely break down his pulse shield with it, but the pulse blade tore through it like butter. It might be because I don't have the proper generator for laser weapons? either way, I find the pulse blade easier for this fight.

I somewhat used your build I couldn’t use the share code, so I just went off of what you said, but didn’t use the weapons and it worked out for my weapons. I used double bazookas because that was working for me before I even went to TH-cam and I actually ended up beating it when I put on the tank body
After attempting 30 times, I now have to look at a guide to beat this boss 😂
I worked all the way up from a lightweight build to this because dodging is meaningless against those massive barrages.
Kudos to Fromsoft for embracing an approach to this game that demands you not just beat your face against the wall until it breaks. Having to learn different builds is great

So OP build, thx for this i already defeat balteus for so many rounds.
This build doesn't work for me. He moves around so much that my aim and camera can't keep up, the shots miss and he flies and stays out of range high in the air half the match making him unreachable with my blade. The few times he returns to the ground he flies across the map the moment I close the distance and spams enough missiles to shave off 70%+ of my health at times, especially if he manages to nuke me with his big missile from close range before he flies off.
And that's not taking into account the massive blades he uses once he hits half health, which nuke half my health in a few seconds.

Alright I finally beat him. I changed the sword for the grenade launcher. I upgrade the repair kit and damage mitigation. Kept my distance in phase 2 so I could watch out for his attacks. Good luck all! I had a very difficult time with him
I just finished grinding missions to get the money for parts, but I’m going back to fight him later today. I was ready to uninstall the game because I couldn’t beat this bastard.
Pulse gun/canon x2 is too damn op... you just gona use this built forever now
This build doesn't work, he just keeps staggering me.
After watching a few more time I notice that you get lucky several times with him getting stuck against you or the ground. I am not getting this to happen. Whenever I get close, he boosts away and because I'm on tank treads, he just turns around and launches more missles and other stuff.
I can't stress how much the tank treads suck. There is zero maneuvering and your armor isn't good enough to face tank stuff like this. I almost died to Sulla using this build.
Tip that might help someone else: When he does that shitty fire attack, jump and hover. That's what was getting me.
I spent at least 4 hours for this boss with different builds, but never tried the tank legs. Using your build I beat it second try. The high AP and high burst damage of the laser sword + dual laser cannon + plasma rifle really did the job. Thanks to you I'm no longer frustrated for not being able to access the later content of the game. Don't like this chokepoint kind of game design...
Took a couple of shots at big fella to secure the win, but I'll vouch for this build as well. Tanky as hell and dishes out the pain!
Tried several times with the build and it didn't work out. Watched the video again, realized I'm simply not spamming my weapons (muscle memory from Dark Souls and the like, I guess). Tried again, simply running towards the boss spamming the ranged weapons and using melee when it range. Boss proceeds to die in short order. Lesson: just use those weapons all the time, don't go for "dodge and then attack" or whatever the instinct may tell you to do from other From games :)

I actually prefer the bazooka and grenade launcher for the arms, had major issues with getting close right as he went into some bull. With the big ol hand cannons i still put up the big stagger numbers and eat at the health but dont have to be right up his A to make it work.

and which VP-20 generator, there's an VP-20S and a VP-20D, say that it's the D
and wtf is "this FCS", say that it's the FCS-G2/PO5
this is bs with a fast an lightweight ac you don't stand a chance because of ammo and health at least i don't but with this build it was first try you don't even need to doge the missailes assoult boost in hit it with an charged sword attack and just unload your weapons and he dies within a minute
Great build thx man, i just changed the weapons for two bubble guns that melts the shield very quickly, just keep spamming them on medium range along with the cannons. I find him difficult to hit meele since he moves too much, and the laser blade is so slow
same i've never been good w/ the swords so i first tried with his build just with two Pulse guns instead
I took him down in a snap using this build, but with double bubble guns instead of the sword and the plasma rifle.
I went with dual plasma rifles, 8 shot rocket and laser Canon with the quad legs, I died a few times trying to play strategically by making sure my shots count but once I started spamming and firing everything as fast as I could I killed him insanely easily, barely even had to dodge
Beat him on my first try without that build, but i hope your video helps others who haven't beat him, Sometimes skills are better than builds.😂😅
I'm assuming all of this is stronger equipment, while I killed him with probably a bad or decent build. After like 20+ tries. Only issues is the cannon, sniper shotgun and melee.
