    The Knicks weren't ALLOWED to match it. There was a little clause in the contract that forbid them from going over 72.

      With the way Thibs uses his centers, no center is worth 30 million a year to the Knicks. At most a center will play 30 minutes and average barely 10 points. He won't get to show his game. Thibs' centers have a very specific job description. Centers with no offensive game and who don't shoot threes are generally pretty cheap these days. Prime Drummond would probably get 12-13 million per year on the open market these days.

    No disrespect to Simms, but I’m not going to be stoked if he is the backup center behind Mitch. If he develops his game, great, but let’s see the proof before we rely on it during the regular season.

    • @knicksdigest
      @knicksdigest  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I agree. Going into the season as a contender when your backup center is a guy who's unproven and your starter has had injury issues is concerning, especially when your biggest competition has Embiid and Porzingis

    • @reckless110
      @reckless110 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be honest, I don't have much faith in simms, whenever he was on the court it always seemed like he had no idea what was going on. Maybe he just needs more consistent playing time. He needs to step it up.

  • @Michael_Page
    @Michael_Page 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Every time anybody mentions Randle they lie. Randle did not score 30 points per game in January. He scored 24.9. Brunson didn't average 30 in January either. He averaged over 30 AFTER January.
    iHart will be missed, but the Knicks did everything to keep him. When Mitch went down, Thibs actually tried to start Jericho Sims so he could continue to bring iHart off the bench. Thibs played Mitch more than he should have in the playoffs.Thibs wouldn't allow iHart to shoot threes. 4/72.5 was a very generous offer for the mediocre traditional stats iHart was allowed to put up. Presti was willing to pay 29 million per year for iHart becasue he sees that iHart can do more than Thibs let him do.

    I look at things differently. What the Knicks offer was a life changer. If it was not for the Knicks he would be as a deveeloped player. Being that the money was less a no trade clause could have been added. Imagine leaving the Knicks snd NYC gor Oklahoma CIty. Note i don't live in NYC or any other large city. All about money ; take it and leave.

      If Nick can be had without giving up Deuce, that would be ideal. Aslo, Nick seems like he'd be happy to be in a rotation. Kessler would probably expect to get the bulk of the minutes right off the bat.

      @jbischmann 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Smarter passer than Precious Knicks got plenty of defensive muscle. Don't need (old habits die hard) ball-heavy Brunson and Randle detracting away from Bridges/OG because Robinson/Precious/Richards are primarily roll/glass/hustle players not actively facilitating spacing or ball movement. Theis is like a poor man's version bball IQ-type Hartenstein at 1/10th the cost (was Horford backup on Boston conference finals team). Think either specific offensive sets late half or timeout, or a high/low set to Randle in the post. You trust Mitch to throw that high/low pass? Hence get some skillset diversity at 4/5. Precious is your energy guy. Mitch the glass/defensive beast. Who is your facilitator (think Warriors without Draymond or Bogut), as
      lack of spacing at the 5 did hurt Knicks in the playoffs last year, no doubt, teams collapsing the paint a bit, Knicks perimeter fortunately hit more than a handful of late clock tough threes, and no reason to willingly repeat if avoidable with this updated roster by hamstringing with all roll/energy bigs at the 5).

    They sign Kessler and he will take Mitchell Robinson starting Job in 10 games and Ditto for NICK RICHARDS

    • @Michael_Page
      @Michael_Page 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Maybe not. iHart was obviously better than Mitch and it took an injury for him to get the starting job. If Mitch is healthy and named the starter, he'll likely keep the job until he gets hurt. Thibs already knows the guy can't hit free throws. He's not going to sit him for being a horrible free throw shooter.

      @@Michael_Page They have been trying to trade Mitch for three years. THIBS being Uber Stubborn is what kept Mitch here. But it's time to Trade Mitch. 5 Years and not one Low post move can't shoot free throws bad foot work low IQ which we witnessed with the incredible dumb Foul against MAXEY. Mitch Time is up. The Last of Scott Perry's bad draft picks like forcing the team to Draft Kevin Knox

    • @Michael_Page
      @Michael_Page 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@leonmitchell3560 But it wasn't a terribly dumb foul. It was a smart play by Maxey (and a travel). Mitch had a great plus minus in the series despite being hobbled and the Knicks won the series. Mitch also was big in the series win against the Cavs the year before.
      Thibs is stubborn. He loves Mitch, it appears. He also loves Randle. They've been trying to trade Randle for years too. Knicks would probably ne better off without Randle, but the coach is the coach. Thibs changed the culture and has his ways of doing things. Gotta take the good with the bad.
