I like the reverse and security of being able to turn off the Rad trike with the key but everything else about the Lectrc looks like it would be the better choice for me. Thanks for the thoughtful and thorough reviews and explanations of both.
I'm not that old (in my 40s) but became sick many years ago at only 21 or 22 years old. Since then, my primary illness has led to other conditions, and now I find it hard to get around. I'm one of those people who use a riding shopping cart, because I can't walk and be on my feet for more than a few minutes. In my teens and 20s I was known to go months without driving my car because I preferred to walk or ride my bike. Now I just stay home and feel isolated because I can no longer do the things I used to be able to do. When I discovered e-trikes, I knew this was the solution. I could pedal if I was up to it, but switch to electric if I need a rest. I can get out of my house, enjoy my neighborhood and even go on short shopping trips like I used to. I'm getting the Lectric with the cargo package and support seat, as one of the main purposes is so I can take trips to the store. So the baskets are a must. Being only 4'10" and wondering how these trikes would work for me, I appreciate you telling and demonstrating the heights these trikes work for and seat placements.
I run a shop. I sell neither of these and not The Buzz either. While I usually prefer a torque sensing mid-drive conversion of a traditional adult trike, with everything your comment stated, I feel confident that you are best off with The Lectric.
@@MHH3180I really appreciate your comment. It's not only makes the Lectric trike look like a good option but also shows you care more about people with specific mobility issues getting the best trike for their needs than only promoting the brands you sell. I wish you much success with your shop.
You are going to like your trike, It should be a little easier for you too because you can have the seat a little lower. I'm 6 ft. so have my seat up there. That raises the center of gravity. Every inch lower makes that gravity thing better. Good luck on your new trike, I'm sure you are going to enjoy it a lot. I sure like my trike, been riding for 5 weeks now. I'm really glad I went with the XP too. I have family members that have the Rad, We don't compare. I just smile a lot.
FIRST OFF; YOUR REVIEWS ARE PART OF THE REASON MY LECTRIC XP TRIKE ARRIVED YESTERDAY. CUT THE CHASE! AS SCOOTER RIDER FROM 12-72, THEN VERTIGO. LOTS OF SENIORS WE GOT THIS. ALL REVIEWS, INCLUDING YOURS INDICATE THIS IS A SUPERIOR CHOICE. AS I CAN NOT GIT THE DAMN SMILE OFF MY FACE. UNBOXED, CLEANED BRAKE DISCS AND ABOUT FOUR HOURS LATER IT HAS 8 MILES ON IT. IT TOOK SO LONG BECAUSE LOTS OF OTHER SENIORS STOPPED ME AND ASKED. ALL THOUGHT IT 'CUTE'. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PURCHASES OF MY LIFE. AND I HAD A 'BANDIT CAR'. AND TONS OF HEMI'S THAT I RACED. THIS IS THE SHIZNITS!! THANK Y9U AGIN FOR THE GREAT REVIEWS AND INFORMATION. WHY DON'T YOU DO VIDEO FOR THE XP ON THE ACCESSORIES TO GIT FOR IT, HELMETS, PHONE HOLDERS, MIRRORS THAT ARE LONG ENUF TO SEE BEHIND; MOST JUST LET YOU KNOW YOU NEED A DEODORANT. OH YES, THE STOCK SEAT IS GREAT FOR MASOCHIST. WHEN YOU REVEALED THE PRICE; I GOT IN CAR AND WENT TO BACK TO GIT MONEY AND OREDERED IT. IF I HAD ONLY SEEN THE RAD OR BASICALLY ALL THE OTHER MORE EXPENSIVE TRIKES, I STILL WOULD NOT HAVE THIS BIG SMILE ON FACE. WEIGHT COMPARISON IS MEANINGLESS. NO ONE OVER 60 WANTS TO LIFT EVEN THE BATTERIES OUT TO CHARGE IN HOUSE. GETTING A 8X4 TRAILER WITH RAMP, FOR MY TRIKE AN ONE MORE, NOT FOLED UP.😆😆😆😆😆
I considered both of them. Opted for the Lectric XP Trike because the footprint is more compact for storing in the shed. The other thing that sold me was the rear hub motor. I had ridden an ebike with a motor on the front and I didn't like the feel. Still learning with my XP Trike, and it does take some getting used to the feel vs. a two-wheeler, but I'm happy with my choice.
I've had my XP for about 6 weeks now. It was a bit intimidating at first, but I am totally comfortable on it now. Cornering takes a little getting used to. But, you can do it. I''m 82 years old and I weight 235 lbs. So, I don't get 14 mph out of it. I usually get 11 to 12, that is fast enough. My little town is almost all gravel streets, kind of ruff. I would like to see the bigger tires, maybe that would soften it a little. But I really like my bike. I use the car for grocery shopping, but that is a 25 mile one way trip. The longest trip I've taken my bike on is to my fishing hole. about 7 miles. Great ride early in the morning.
Lectric for the win by far! I wouldn’t even consider a Rad bike of any kind. They seem to be slipping behind the curve in most things. So many other options out there these days that are outpacing them. Just my opinion. Great video guys!
You guys knocked it out of the park! Wonderful review, you covered areas that other reviewers failed to cover( riding on sloped driveways ). Thank you!!
I chose the XP Trike with food boxes front and back plus the baskets 🧺 and an extra battery 🔋 for under 3k I have 100 miles on and use it as my community garden workhorse and on the bike path in Burlington Burlington VT
Purchased the Lectric and had ridden the other trike manufacturers and found due to the rear wheel motor the tire did not spin on gravel with the Lectric but did a great deal on the competitiors. I also found the differential helped a great deal on the the turns. The Lectric trike take off was gradual and because my wife has a balancing issue we fiound the Lectric overall was the best. Also you must adjust your balance if you are riding on a crowned road (designed this way so flooding is not as big an issue during rain storms. I own both a Lectric 3.0 and a trike and we found Lectric supports their customers after the purchase has been completed.
Great video guys! My wife and I just purchased two Lectric XPs yesterday. They should arrive in August. Made up our minds before we saw this video. Sorry, would have used your link. By the features offered with the XPs, you can tell that the Lectric understands the market well for who might buy these. Over a couple of years, they listened to feedback for design ideas, kept safety in mind, and have excellent engineers. I mean, a rear drive with a differential axle, wow! We are both into nature/wildlife photography. Carrying our heavy camera equipment limits how far we can walk down trails. The trikes will not only be our packhorses but add a lot of fun and add miles to our outings. Can’t wait until they arrive!
Great review - very detailed. While I'm capable of riding a two-wheeled bike, I'm nervous about falls after breaking an ankle by just stepping wrong, so I knew I wanted a trike. Slow speed works great for my purposes. I chose the Lectric: lighter weight, narrower footprint, foldability for fitting in my car, hydraulic brakes, lights for safety, significantly lower price and free cargo package. I liked the security feature of the battery lock and the reverse feature on the Rad, but even at the same price I would have chosen the Lectric due to the other features.
I love my xp lectric trike and it is my car replacement. I sold my pickup and dropped my insurance also no gasoline so it saves me over $200 a month. I am 80 yr. old living on SS. and living like a king in central Texas. OOOra
I have the Lectric 2.0 as that was the only option when I purchased but after this video, I really want the trike. The comparison was excellent and helpful.
I just got the XP trike as your weight is over the rear wheels. I see trouble with the front wheel power, the head stock is not vertical so when you turn the front wheel is pulls on that. I like that the xp has slime in the wheels when shipped so has reasonable puncture protection.
In a lot of canadian provinces there are laws governing motor size. 500w is the highest size allowable to be on any biking pathways in Alberta. At some point I can see quota tickets happening. There are way more 750 motors sold. It is just something to keep in mind.
I choose the XP Trike added a suspension fork and a Cane Creek seat post and lovin every minute of it. With all my extra's I still paid less than the price of Rad. And I haven`t found a time where I need reverse.
I’m late here, but hopefully not too late. This is a great review. I’ve watched loads of videos on TH-cam where so many viewers have commented about bad bearing issues. I wanted the XP, but have shied away from it now. Still deciding, but between the two here, I’ll go with the RAD. I don’t want to deal with repairs down the road on the XP.
I ride my Lectric XP Trike on a gravel/small rock off-road trail at our POA park on Lake Travis with numerous small inclines and dips. I also ride paved roads with major inclines and serious downhill runs. No matter on-road or off-road, this trike has been wonderful for me. I'm a young at heart 72-year-old guy and this trike is easy to handle and perfect for me. I highly recommend Lectric Trikes for 'older' folks (LOL).
Just bought 2 lectric trikes...both left fenders had damage 1 of the brake lights broken but the broke part wasnt in the box..tells me it was shipped that way.....parking brakes on both bikes dont work..that's my review
Thanks; this is a GREAT video. I have an Acquired Brain Injury and for the last ten years my balance has been so bad that I couldn't ride a regular bike (I can STILL ride them; it's just that I fall over on the silly things). In a similar vein, I can still drive a car; it's just that I keep running into things. I've had to stop rationalizing this with 'it's THEIR problem for stopping in front of me' and look for alternative methods of transportation. These trikes certainly fill the bill for me. I can still walk, but just barely. I get too tired from walking any distance anymore. I presently have a scooter, which has been fine. I can take it into the grocery stores and do my shopping and other things, but I'm finding the range of the scooter is not very good. I was originally looking into this trike only for the better range, but I'm finding some very good things that are beyond this factor. The ONLY thing which I would add to these two trikes; and ANY trikes that are being offered as mobility aids; is to put the two wheels at the front of the bike and the single wheel behind. Doing this would eliminate the problem of instability at higher speeds. But this is a minor complaint. It's nice to see that these companies have considered the limitations of people such as myself with things such as the lower step-through clearance and the coaster-type brakes. Thanks for doing this; I'm presently trying to order a trike, but I keep having problems clearing my credit card:(. Oh well...:). But I'll certainly make my purchase with a much more clear idea of what I'm doing thanks to you.
Trikes are ideal Winter commuters and cargo bikes. I have a recumbent e-trike but an upright is still more comfortable as a commuter. Quality wise, I would put The Buzz between The Lectric and The Rad. It is less than The Rad and just a little more than The Lectric. The Buzz will out climb both with its torque sensing mid-drive and has a a better front basket than The Lectric. It's rear basket is handier, but admittedly nowhere near as heavy-duty. All three have batteries that are too small. The Rad will ride better with steel tubing and the fact that their tubing is round. The fact that the geometry is more relaxed helps too. Ot should be slightly more stable than either alternatives. The display on The Lectric is far superior to the other two, but The Buzz is superior to The Rad's display, includimg a USB charging port. It is also larger and easier to read than either. The Buzz has The Lectric's big tires, but tread much better for rail trails and streets. The Buzz comes with cheaper mechanical brakes than either, but easily upgraded. The Buzz's seven gears, to take advantage The Mid-drive, are very, very significant. You'll know it every time you approach even a small hill. Still, internal gears would be far superior for all three and it is a shame. You can shift an IGH stopped, coasting and really good IGH's can be shifted while pedaling lightly. I am a little concerned about all the speed references. In Europe, you aren't getting that much assist on an e-BIKE. Pedelecs were not developed take cycling faster. It was take traditional cycling easier, more convenient and accessible. The average touring cyclist only rides 12.5mph. Speeding e-bikes are getting us kicked off a lot of MUP's.
Great job guys! I happily used your affiliate link to make my Black Friday purchase. Happy to support you because your reviews are comprehensive and informative. Thanks so much! My pup and I are most appreciative.
You sold me - my Lectric has been submitted for shipping. It won’t be long now..! The idea alone makes my heart race. I can’t walk any distance anymore and I miss my wanderings. I think this’ll do the trick… Thanks for the good work!
Hot news! The Rad Trike price is now significantly reduced and competitive with Lectric trike. Your video is brilliant. Yes I’d like to see more trike videos. Thank you.
Lectric XP Trike arrives in two days. Made up my mind fairly soon after they started shipping. I may be in the minority but although I am 62 I bought the XP Trike for fun. Although I may need it sooner than I would like to admit. I wish there was an option to increase the speed to least 18 mph. Once you gain experience on a trike you know what speeds are safe for different situations and ride accordingly. Top speed is irrelevant while negotiating difficult or changing terrain.
Most trikes like these would not be comfortable or safe at 18mph. I have had my XP trike for just a few days and really, really like it. If you are looking to pedal along, the speed limit is realistically only about 9mph because there is no peddling resistance above that speed. I have pretty much only used PAS 1 and occasionally PAS 2 to get over some small bridges in my area. You and I are around the same age. Personally, I want and need to be able to get a bit of exercise when I ride. And like you, have some fun and relaxation. And of course, have a safe and enjoyable ride. And I am never in a rush when I ride. I just want to enjoy the sunshine, breeze and scenery. The XP provides ALL that! It is extremely well designed and build quality is very, very high. If you want to get somewhere fast without pedaling, you may need a 2nd option that is meant for higher speeds and offers increased stability and safety. By the way, I believe the XP is capable of being easily adjusted for higher speeds. Easy as in taking seconds to do without any hardware adjustments, rather just making a simple adjustment in the settings menu. BUT I am not going to try to do it nor am I going to share the info for safety reasons. I doubt that I will ever intentionally ride it at speeds that I cannot pedal at other than when coasting down a slope. If I need to get somewhere fast, I will take my car! Keep in mind that at higher speeds, the steering becomes extremely sensitive, and I believe a simple wrong amount of turn or unintentional jerk of the handlebars could easily cause the rider to flip over at higher speeds. Hope you will post your thoughts on the XP after you have received it and used it a bit.
While 14 mph may seem slow, it's perfectly fine to take this shopping or for a nice little ride with enough speed that you would be pedaling a normal bike at a decent speed. Some times when I'm riding my ebike if I put it on PAS 3 and with cruise control on it's around 15-16 mph(26-27km/h with the 52v battery at full voltage) but absolutely sips power, like we're talking hovering around 3-4 amps from a 15 amp battery and it's perfectly adequate for normal biking trails where there are pedestrians, other cyclists, etc. You're still mostly passing everyone except the spandex crowd on their Cannondales, but slow enough to be not super aggressive and able to stop really quickly. Sometimes I even put it on PAS 1 (10mph) or PAS 2 (12-13 mph) If I'm riding with friends with pedal bikes and it's still fast enough if you are just on a quiet bike trail to get your around faster than you think.
Everyone should know. I bought 2 lectric trikes for me and my wife last July. One of the trikes came with a bent wheel on the back, and the other one had two flat tires. Lectric ebikes sent us a new wheel but I bought new tubes for the tires. Now both bikes have bad rear axle bearings and the bikes are not usable. We have put 117 miles on one trike and 104 miles on the other all neighborhood riding. I sent video of the bearing movement, and noise. they told me I had to pack up the bike in original packing and ship it back 1000 miles just to get it fixed or replaced. I asked for a shop service manual but they refused. These bikes are cheaply made and service is poor. So much for savings.
I had seen a comment elsewhere where they sent out a new trike with no problem. these bearings seem to be a consistent problem and I just bought mine without looking into all these videos first! So I'm a little worried as your post is only 4 months old. I wonder if they have done anything to address the bearing problem
Great comparison review of the 2 trikes but I purchased the XP Lectric Trike because of design and value added accessories (cargo baskets) that came FREE in the preorder. Mine arrived the other day and I am happy with the choice I made watching your great videos! Keep up the great job the both of you do to inform potential customers of these products!
Overall, at a $1000 less, the Lectric Trike seems to be a much better value. I own a Rad Rover 5 Fat Tire and I love it but Rad's pricing has crept up across all their offerings. With the savings you can add a Lectric XP lite to your purchase....while almost covering the taxes and shipping for both.
My Lectric Trike is coming tomorrow. Thanks for all the Lectric Trike videos. It is like Christmas Eve tonight...excited...do not want to fall asleep.....waiting for Fed Ex
Yes. More trike videos. I want to see what they become. Tilting reverse? Another great video guys. Fair and objective. I bought the Lectric Trike for mobility, as you carefully point out. Thanks for that. So for those folks with hand troubles, I suggest the Rad with the coaster brake. Or for reverse. But in every other category, come on. In my case, my feet are of little use, so hand brakes on the Lectric are the way to go. I still had to add aftermarket pedals so my feet wont fall off and I get what's known as "leg suck". They also allow me to actually pedal and they provide a very forgiving release in any shoe. One more thing about pedaling... it's geared to be mostly useless after about 10 mph, so use the throttle. But believe me that's ok. I totally enjoy full days winding along all the waterfront and boardwalks in my area at a fairly brisk 1-9 mph pace and still climb hills whenever I want, which I have a lot. (My pedals are called Power Grip Pedals that I bought somewhere else)
So, other than reverse, the Lectric seems to be the clear winner. Now if only a shipping company better than FedEx could be used. Each of the last five days they claimed an operational delay. No human being I can find to explain.
We just got a Lectric trike for my wife. She loves it. They now charge extra for the baskets, but include a package with a lock, mirrors, and phone holder.
I was just thinking of messaging you today. I was wondering if you got your new seat yet but you answered my question. I don't care much for the seat. I love my trike though. I got it about 3 weeks ago and I have 83 miles on it. I love the single speed and the torque. Enjoy your riding sir☮️
You guys are the best test team I have seen yet. I own a 2 wheel LECTRIC. X P I HAVE had to move the kick stand back I'm 6.4 220 lb. Am 74 years old. The LECTRIC trike is by far the best choice. I'm saving up for it. Sadly it will take circa 8mo.!!😢
If it might help, I bought my XP trike through Affirm. You should have that choice at checkout, and you can choose what financing length of time you want. You have to have a checking account because they automatically deduct your payment every month, so you would want to order it at the time of month that you know you could make that payment. 😊😊
10:36 I had a labyrinthectomy surgery done due to Ménière’s disease, and they took the balance out of the left side of my brain and my hearing on the left side so therefore, I feel it would be most beneficial for me to have a electric bike for the fear of falling. How often do you see the Lectric bikes tipped over?
Rad wins the handlebar looks 😁. I will get an extra 48V 750 watt front hub motor for the XP trike, combine a 28 amp controller and let you know how it went.
@@kevinnashskitchen3517handlebars are easily amd cheaply change. Rad does have more comfortable geometry and steel, especially round tubes, naturally absorbs vibration like nothing else (butted tubing would be even better, not just lighter)...not that it in any way justifies this rediculous price difference.
Thanks for the good review of both . I had to give up bike riding due to disability. I think I’d like the Lectric model but I only just saw the trike and think I missed the chance for the extra items they were offering. Still it’s is a much better price point than what Rad is offering. Thanks for showing the comparison you did a great job.
I'm a bit late to the party, but thank you for this video. Very comprehensive and informative. I can't wait to get my trike in the next couple of weeks.
I going to be buying one. I need the exercise and thats what concerns me, will i get any, will i ever pedal. Cervical spinal cord injury so regular bike is out. Tried a just pedal trike an found it hard to pedal so this is the solution to get around in my 55+ community.
You are one of the key people these trikes are for. You could always turn the PAS level up and pedal with less effort.... But it is a bit difficult to not use the throttle. It would need to be something to work at for sure.
Hi, I really enjoy your videos. I like that U do all the comparisons & give us as much detail & information that we may need to make an informed decision on the product . I am doing my research on the ebike trikes & the XP from Letric keeps coming up. I do want a little more zippyness, I kno U said the max speed is 14 mph, BUT can it be adjusted to maybe 22 or 25 mph in the settings? I'm not saying I will be going that fast, I jus want to kno it's an option. If so, do U have a video on passing certain settings to allow that? I won't be going off roading w/it, but I will want to take it camping & there will be loose gravel, a little hills to ride it down to the lake w/my husband on his 43 mph e-bike😂. Thank U Angela 54yrs.YOUNG😊
Nice comparison. Would like to see someone review SixThreeZero etrikes, especially the 2 front wheel folding trike. Also the Addmotor Citytri etrike. Also some European folding etrikes, esp the DiBlasi and Etnnic folding etrikes.
I can't say enough good things about this comparison video. I'm planning an e-trike purchase and it's so hard when you can't test-drive them all yourself! I know I'm not the main target market, but I would *love* to see a comparison with a geared e-trike (maybe the sixthreezero EVRYjourney, which I'm also considering). I love everything about the Lectric except that the gearing practically limits the top speed you can reach by pedaling; I'm wondering how fast you can get in practice on a straight trail.
I am in Perth, Australia, thank you very much for providing this video, but I have a suggestion, because different regions and countries will be restricted by local traffic laws when using electric vehicles, although your video is very good Excellent, this question cannot be avoided.
Thank you for producing this review. I've always thought of Rad as an industry leader but this definitely changed my mind. Clearly between these two bikes lectric has a huge advantage. The only thing I don't like about lectric is that it's folding
I ordered an Lectric XP Trike before finding this video but I would make the same choice now that I have seen it. I bought my eTrike to primarily use it for shopping especially in grocery and department stores. I currently use the store's electric shopping carts but many times they are all in use or not fully charged and I run out of gas before my shopping is complete. The one thing that impressed me about the Rad was the reverse mode. I don't know what the turning radius is for the Lectric XP. Will it make a u-turn in a Walmart aisle? The electric shopping carts often will not and I have to use reverse to get turned around.
@@EbikeEscape I spoke to the "greeter" at the local store today and she assured me that there would be no problem using my trike in the store but I can't count on her statement to be accepted by other stores or other greeters. But with the Americans With Disabilities Act looking over their shoulder, it would be risky for Walmart or similar stores to refuse entry. I measured the store's electric shopping carts and the trike's length and width are almost the same. I also saw another video where a trike rider made a u-turn on a typical sidewalk which appeared to be much more narrow than a store aisle. So I can't imagine why a store would refuse entry. After all, the cart I don't use will be available for another disabled person.
I like the xp trike but i know some people orderd it & when they received it the fenders came damaged so i did not order it untill they fix the problem Lol. No one wants to receive anything that is damage . Thanks. for the video
Nice review. Neither of you stated a personal favorite. An opinion from each parent would be helpful too. One important spec that you did not mention is the range on a fully charged battery on flat pavement. Thanks
Just bought the Lectric, it's in the mail. If the Rad is it's closest competitor then there is no trike that completes. Please tell me what feature makes the Rad worth a thousand dollars more?
Great comparison. Rad should be embarrassed for offering so much less for so much more. I have a Lectric XP 3.0 bike and my only complaint has been the brakes. Amazingly, Lectric has addressed that and I just received the new hydraulic brake package. Well done, Lectric!
What grade of hill does the XP take? I have a beast of a hill that I have to climb on the way to the store. It's long and steep. Looking for options that could tackle this hill. My Radrunner plus is just not powerful enough for this hill. I should mention I am usually hauling heavier cargo.
The video I watched before this was about an anti-bike lane rally. One of their arguments was that building it was ableist and ageist because seniors wouldn't be able to use it. That doesn't seem to be the case. I imagine some disabled folks could use it as well, with guidance at the 2mph setting.
I went to link, and sadly $149 for accessorie cargo racks but they do offer seat with back support swap and standard free shipping to the Discounted price of $1,499
Hey up here in Canada north of Toronto smog has been bad butt went out Wednesday Thursday and Friday we went up to cottage country, around the lakes it was a bit better but after Friday I was feeling it, we have had some rain and it seemed to thin it out so hopefully back out on Sunday
I was convinced that Lectric was the one for me, and I ordered it. However, it's now been two weeks since I ordered and they have provided 0 information about when I will receive the trike. Very poor customer experience. I have no idea when it will ship or what the delay is. My brother-in-law ordered an ebike from Rad and got it within a few days, and has been happily riding it for weeks. If speed of getting your bike is important to you, take that into consideration. I wouldn't even mind waiting, if they would only communicate an estimated time frame or where it is in the process. The order says "preparing for shipping" but that is obviously not true - it doesn't take to weeks to "prepare for shipping." Is it en route from an offshore manufacturer? Is it being built? When is it expected? Simple communication is all it takes to make customers happy. Most of us are reasonable people who understand delays, but we expect communication.
Best to compare the size of the batteries and then take a look at Rad's/Lectric's estimates to get an idea. They are both pretty good at giving you an idea but range varies so much depending on a variety of factors that it's difficult for us to talk in absolutes.
The max distance was never mentioned, nor how many hours they can go at different speeds. That's something I really want to know. But other than that you guys were thorough.
There are many factors that affect range. I believe the data provided by Lectric is reasonably accurate. I have only had my XP Trike for a few days and expect to exceed the ranges they provide. I am on track to likely reach around 60 miles of range after my 1st charge. I thought I might need to purchase a 2nd batter for long rides, but it will absolutely not be necessary. I have only had the XP for a few days and love it so far. It has exceeded my expectations. My conclusion is that this bike is meant to typically be peddled in PAS 1 with speed in a range of 7-10 miles per hour. For those who cannot pedal much, PAS 1 and PAS 2 are the best and safest choices offering reasonable acceleration and safe speeds. And the trike operates extremely well and efficiently in this mode. Above 10 mph, there is no need to pedal (because the bike has no gears and there is no resistance). I chose this bike for numerous reasons, but driving fast is not one of them. And I absolutely want to pedal 100% of the time if I am able to. I am in a relatively flat area, with just a few small bridges. I do switch to PAS 2 to go over them.
@@EbikeEscape i'll be setting my top speed to 30 mph by sprocket size. i'll be interest which go farther in distance. 1 tank of gas vs 1 battery charge.
@@EbikeEscape would 120 mph count on a trike motorcycle? Because I haven't done that either lol. I grew up riding motorcycles and bikes. I has a freak accident hiking and rocks gave out and my left foot is not recovering from surgery. I just want to go out and feel normal again but fast lol Also my grandmother had a trike and I could ride it tilted on 2 wheels. Maybe I'm the outlier because I have been over 100 on motorcycles and had my own 50cc bike at age 12 lol?

I run a shop. I sell neither of these and not The Buzz either. While I usually prefer a torque sensing mid-drive conversion of a traditional adult trike, with everything your comment stated, I feel confident that you are best off with The Lectric.
At 72 I think I like the Lectric due to I would take it shopping. How do they get locked? Do you need to remove battery?😊
@@Gimo76Lectric sells a separate bike lock that you put through the spokes.
I don't see what having a reverse is a big deal, what is so hard about pushing a 62lb trike back into a parking spot?
You could also lower the tire pressure to get a softer ride on the XP.
Lectric for the win by far! I wouldn’t even consider a Rad bike of any kind. They seem to be slipping behind the curve in most things. So many other options out there these days that are outpacing them. Just my opinion. Great video guys!
The wider stance is the only "pro".
You guys knocked it out of the park! Wonderful review, you covered areas that other reviewers failed to cover( riding on sloped driveways ). Thank you!!
Our pleasure!
I chose the XP Trike with food boxes front and back plus the baskets 🧺 and an extra battery 🔋 for under 3k I have 100 miles on and use it as my community garden workhorse and on the bike path in Burlington Burlington VT
I used your link to purchase the lectric. Great job fellas!
OOOra
Wow awesome!
I have the Lectric 2.0 as that was the only option when I purchased but after this video, I really want the trike. The comparison was excellent and helpful.
I got the Addmotor M360 I have put nearly 3000 mi on my trike so far this year
I just got the XP trike as your weight is over the rear wheels. I see trouble with the front wheel power, the head stock is not vertical so when you turn the front wheel is pulls on that.
I like that the xp has slime in the wheels when shipped so has reasonable puncture protection.
RAD is on sale today for 1200 just looked up
So much cheaper!
I’d like to add a suspension fork. Which one did you use? Thanks!
What suspension fork did you use
Sounds like a super mod. Please share what fork you used. Thanks

Great video! I bought the Lectric trike because of the rear drive and hydraulic brakes. Cost me a lot less than the Rad too!
I think this’ll do the trick…
Thanks for the good work!
Hot news! The Rad Trike price is now significantly reduced and competitive with Lectric trike. Your video is brilliant. Yes I’d like to see more trike videos. Thank you.
I saw that sale! But now makes it harder to choose which one to get :)
I am on my 2nd/3rd “real life” drive on my XP trike. This is an extremely accurate depiction of the things you must consider when riding these trikes!
My choice. The XP Trike!
Or 2 extra 14 ah batteries. The range difference would be ridiculous
RAD is on sale for 1200 just went to the site
is there a passenger seat available ?
Truly love your review. I have seen many ebike reviewers and I appreciate yours a lot. Thank you both for a great review.
Even with hand issues, the hydraulic brakes on the XP are far easier on the hands than the mechanical brake on the Rad.
So, other than reverse, the Lectric seems to be the clear winner. Now if only a shipping company better than FedEx could be used. Each of the last five days they claimed an operational delay. No human being I can find to explain.
I really appreciate you taking the time to compare these with the mindset of those with disabilities. I’m about to buy with your link!
Thanks for the support!
We just got a Lectric trike for my wife. She loves it. They now charge extra for the baskets, but include a package with a lock, mirrors, and phone holder.
Nice! That's great to hear!
Me pregunto si se podra adaptar un pequeño "techo" para tener algo de sombra y con un panel solar para incrementar la autonomía??
A pothole test would be cool. Showing hitting a pothole with only one rear wheel and just the front wheel.👍
@@heiscalling As of today 11/1 the extra accessories (cargo baskets and bigger seat ) are still included if you use the referral link above.
Thank U

Now you should campare Lectric eTrikes and MoonCool with the same price, MoonCool is suspension fork and better Power capacity.
Great video. Thanks for showing the reverse. Is it easy to back up the other bike without reverse?
Nice comparison. Would like to see someone review SixThreeZero etrikes, especially the 2 front wheel folding trike. Also the Addmotor Citytri etrike. Also some European folding etrikes, esp the DiBlasi and Etnnic folding etrikes.
Remember, this pricing is a year old. Affordability is even better.
what about climbing hills as i live with lots
I can't say enough good things about this comparison video. I'm planning an e-trike purchase and it's so hard when you can't test-drive them all yourself!
I know I'm not the main target market, but I would *love* to see a comparison with a geared e-trike (maybe the sixthreezero EVRYjourney, which I'm also considering). I love everything about the Lectric except that the gearing practically limits the top speed you can reach by pedaling; I'm wondering how fast you can get in practice on a straight trail.
Did ghry make a recommendation at the end? Which one did they like more? Seemed to like both for different reasons...
I think the case can be made for either depending on your needs. And now that the RadTrike has been on sale it's not as clear cut.
It might, but some aisles are quite small, so I wouldn't count on it. Curious if they would let you even ride it in the store.
I think showing why costs, even within brands, are different is important. I for one appreciate having found you on you tube.😢Thank you.
My wife and I ordered one of each... we'll decide which one we like best for each of us.
Report back after you try them out. Love hearing other people's comparison and take aways.
Thanks
With the prices more in line as of late it isn't as clear cut but I like the XP Trike for the rear wheel drive and hydraulic disc brakes.
Please review comparable with reserve e trike style.
Just bought the Lectric, it's in the mail. If the Rad is it's closest competitor then there is no trike that completes. Please tell me what feature makes the Rad worth a thousand dollars more?
I LOVE THE ELECTRIC (or gas) Powered TRIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉😢😢😢😂😂😂❤❤😂😂😂❤❤😂❤
Great comparison. Rad should be embarrassed for offering so much less for so much more. I have a Lectric XP 3.0 bike and my only complaint has been the brakes. Amazingly, Lectric has addressed that and I just received the new hydraulic brake package. Well done, Lectric!
Rear wheel power is the way to go. I want one WITHOUT pedals, my hips don't work well enough. Give me a proper foot plate!
Give me the RAD trike, I like the wide track stance. Thanks for the demo.

Stay tuned! We are getting them out soon.
Rad is way better. Tested both bikes. Sorry but Rad responds way better and way sooner. Just better trike overall.
Where can I look for and buy it? We see this video in Nortnern Germany. The LECTRIC one is intetesting for my wife.
I think they only distribute in the US currently.
What grade of hill does the XP take? I have a beast of a hill that I have to climb on the way to the store. It's long and steep. Looking for options that could tackle this hill. My Radrunner plus is just not powerful enough for this hill. I should mention I am usually hauling heavier cargo.
So glad to see this video. Currently looking to purchase an e- trike. Looking for sturdy, easy to assemble or offers assembly option,
Afirm financing
The video I watched before this was about an anti-bike lane rally. One of their arguments was that building it was ableist and ageist because seniors wouldn't be able to use it. That doesn't seem to be the case. I imagine some disabled folks could use it as well, with guidance at the 2mph setting.
Please suggest locking bike.
It's been bad here. Here's hoping it only gets better!
Have you tried reaching out? They might be able to provide you some more insight. Understandable it is nice when they are more upfront with that info.
AWESOME REVIEWS ON THE 2 TRIKES.
I ORDERED 2 YESTERDAY 😁
What two did you order?
Why did you omit the mile range before your battery goes dead? But hit the road demonstrations were very helpful
Best to compare the size of the batteries and then take a look at Rad's/Lectric's estimates to get an idea. They are both pretty good at giving you an idea but range varies so much depending on a variety of factors that it's difficult for us to talk in absolutes.
Did you find any option to lock the batter for the Lectric trike, while away from it, to prevent theft?
I live in Oregon with lots of inclines. Which one does inclines the best?
Great video. Loads of info. Keep them coming
What do you think about the Liberty tryke versus the lectric tryke
Which one is made in the USA
Great review. The whoosh when changing graphics is really annoying.
Have a set and pick one as the best
x p all the way⚡
which cost less.?
Yes we want to see more 🎉🎉
How it do for a 66 yr old man and I’d see a video on it going around corners
I would for the XP trike.
I love these trike the problem is where I live we don't many bike lanes and the ones we have are narrow I would not feel safe on a trike
how about comparing e-trikes vs gas trikes? i'm putting a 212cc predator on my trike.
While that would be fun it's probably not in our future. Thanks for watching!
@@EbikeEscape i'll be setting my top speed to 30 mph by sprocket size. i'll be interest which go farther in distance. 1 tank of gas vs 1 battery charge.
Sorry but the deal killer for both is 14mph. You said you wouldn't want to go any faster but I think that option is not shared by many!
That is fair. But just for our reference, have you ever ridden a trike past 14mph?
@@EbikeEscape would 120 mph count on a trike motorcycle? Because I haven't done that either lol. I grew up riding motorcycles and bikes. I has a freak accident hiking and rocks gave out and my left foot is not recovering from surgery. I just want to go out and feel normal again but fast lol Also my grandmother had a trike and I could ride it tilted on 2 wheels. Maybe I'm the outlier because I have been over 100 on motorcycles and had my own 50cc bike at age 12 lol?
@@EbikeEscape I do however appreciate you making this video and did a great job!
