In hindsight, it's really frustrating that they didn't make Godric the oldest vampire in the show. As he stands out so drastically. This soft-spoken boy, wearing linen and speaking of coexistence. It would imply that the ultimate power gained, given enough time, isn't telepathy, or super strength, or the ability to fly. But something far more valuable. The return of their humanity.
"I am actually older than your Jesus. I wish I could have known him - but I missed it." The line of the show ladies and gentleman. Still makes me laugh to this day ..
As a Christian that line just gives me chills. Not in a bad way, just kinda freaky to imagine that there could be someone old enough to have met Jesus in person, it blows my mind 🤔
NotoriousNoe also I love that it's not "I knew him and could tell you everything you want to know cause I'm so old" I feel like in most vampire shows the vampire is always debunking history when it's like dude... you couldn't have been everywhere all the time. I just like how he knew of him but wasn't in the area.
I hate he lost his will to live. He was needed to keep balance. Even when he walked into the sun he didnt burst like everyone else. He slowly disintegrated.
He didnt lose the will to live. He gained insight about his own existence which allowed him to transcend his form of being a vampire. Hence the fires are blue and he isnt screaming in pain when the sun shines on him
He didn't lose the will to live. He gained the insight to realize he wasn't living at all. He'd been fasting for ages because he didn't believe in taking life anymore - and likely, during that process, he obtained a higher state of consciousness. Forced to either go back at the advent of starvation, or relinquish his undeath, he just chose to end it. To put it another way, I haven't watched True Blood in years, but here I am - you can live more in a few minutes than some do in an entire lifetime. That's just how it is.
@@braveandblessed9279 he said at his age he'll burn fast but I think the reason he didn't suffer the pain of burning is because he had evolved beyond what vampires primarily do which is hunt feed and kill humans he seemed to feel genuine remorse for all of his actions and was touched that Sookie stayed with him to the end thats probably why he had a soul and came back as a ghost
Its a HUGE nod to Anne Rice. She writes Vampires, in all their cruelty, as "Gods" avatars. They are the Angels of a cruel and capricious God. AKA the God of the Old Testament (before they had to re-vise that shit cos it was so nasty and Hebrew).
@@EddieDumarce44 not 100% sure but I'm guessing because as an older vampire, he burned far quicker than younger vampires do on the show, hence the blue flame.
I disagree, it wasn't a missed opportunity. Like I do wish that we got to see more of him but his character arc was perfect as is. Its like we don't really know him, but we completely understand him. Knowing him more would've taken the mystery or magic, idk wut to call it, away.
@@megkrish7568 lol oddly enough, i don't disagree with you on any particular point. I don't even disagree with you in general. Your post serves as a good reason why what we got was probably for the best. I might have wanted more, but the points you raise are why I'm also kind of glad we didn't
This is a great scene with Godric and Steve Newlin. They are some of my most favorite characters from the show. I actually bought Steve's white suit and boots when they were auctioning stuff off from the show.
What I love the most about this is how he talks about knowing their jesus and wishing he could have met him because that, to me, is really what drives the idea of perception home just as much as he doesn't retaliate. the show had iffy writing often, but man does it have some strong stuff, even if it like was unintentional or I am just reading into stuff too much.
Godric was the most compelling character on the show by a country mile, he resonated the wisdom that should come with extreme age. The only other character vampires that I think hold a candle to him are Lucien La Croix from Forever Knight and Mr Quinlan from The Strain.
Does anyone know where Godrick is from? I know Eric is a Viking but the show never said Godrick was. I've tried doing research on his tattoos but, to no avail.
Writing error they often times didn't go crazy over her, though sometimes they did just inconsistent is all, Id assume they'd say only if her blood is drawn then they'd go crazy.
I think the series would have been a lot stronger if this was the last we ever saw of Newlin. Just a pathetic shell of a man who's been abandoned and betrayed by everyone he ever thought would die for him, even his own wife. Maybe an off screen mention of him facing life imprisonment for his crimes on the news.

harmony wasn’t guaranteed. he achieved it
i disagree, I loved the balance between Godric and Russell. Good and evil. Sane and mad. It was a good choice.
Who was the oldest on the show? Godric was over 2,000 years old, I didn't remember an older vampire.
Russel Edginton was 3000 years old, the oldest one we've heard of in the show.@@marcd1981

Actually he not older the god he didn't miss anything ..god was already there .. Lilith said good made her vampire ..
I agree
I have to laugh every time he says "i wish i could have known him, but i missed it" and then shrugs with a facial expression like 'yeah, shit happens'

He disintegrated because of his age, I think. He was over 2000 years old.
@@Daniel_Alves1993 I think Godric said that the older a vampires, the faster they burn.

I would of loved to see a spin off show of Eric and godric before all these back when it was them that would be dope
Bryson Jones throw in some Pam too
Yeah, it would be.
"Would of"? 🤣🤣
His and Eric’s acting was a lot better than the other characters.
Godric appears to be more angelic than vampiric.
Edit#1 thanks for all the likes, lads n lasses
Kobe Dragon
He does kind of reminds me of Jesus with his personality and all dressed in white. 😊
Have you watched the show Supernatural? Some of the angels are fucking evil.

I always like when Godric would show up, with his supreme power over all the other vamps.
They killed him off way too early

Same! It was SUCH a let down when he died..
I wonder how he and Edgington would have interacted
@@Ambientcontinuum Godric would be disgusted by Russell and his sadism
Godric: I dare say my faith in human kind is stronger than your's.
It's a shame his character wasn't a bigger part of the show. Great character played by a good actor. Opportunity missed
I'm inclined to agree, but a lot of the time really cool background characters become less so if they are used too much.

I forgot how hooked I was on the earlier seasons of this show.
Goodric has to stand at the top of the stairs in order to reach his neck haha 🤣
I've never paid attention to that my first time watching it's funny though
0:50 that's the best quote of the entire show
With great power comes great wisdom

IMO Godric is the best looking vampire in the show
It really bothers me that he end up dead
He had been dead for over 2000 years 😁
Godric has more dignity and common sense than vampires twice his age.
Godric was a royal BOSS.
I always liked how this turned out. Godric sure was a true leader. And he could’ve met Jesus. Amazing
I wish they kept Godric longer on the show
The way he says “older” it sounds like it ain’t by a measly 500 years!
He’s not that much older, more like 50-60 years older
He had soooo much potential
I neither know nor care who u are
Damn that’s a classic
Sookie and Bill make me sick Bill gets on my nerves
Sookie doesn't bother me as much as Bill. He gets on every single one of my nerves. I shipped Sookie and Eric💖💖
Best moment! Godric
Sookie. As your maker, I command you, to give me a snookie.
I miss True Blood.

I wanted him to become one of the main cast , he had this aura 😩
Goodric sells being ancient so much better than Russel ever did. He doesn’t have to say his age, just his line about being older than Jesus sums it up
He use to be my favorite character 😩 I haven’t watched this in yearssss
That was the worst thing he did. I personally am w/Eric:"Kill The Humans,Kill Them All!"
Out of all the vampires Godric is the only one I like.
Does anyone know where Godrick is from? I know Eric is a Viking but the show never said Godrick was. I've tried doing research on his tattoos but, to no avail.
shareena clarke Godric* was from Gaul, which doesn't exist anymore. But Allan Hyde is from Denmark.
Thanks! Xx
You're welcome! :)
In the books he was made before ancient rome
Autumn clarke ,He was from Gaul.
All the older vampires are more interesting. The guy who played the preacher is a great actor, did an excellent job.
Heeeey!!! It’s Super Snatch
How are all those vamps not going into a frenzy over Sookie's blood
They fear Godric more than their blood lust

Godric was so cool…
Ed Quinn who is the cowboy vampire is HOT.
I agree! He is very sexy!
2016 years old 2000 as a vampire 16 when turned into a vampire
Does anyone know the soundtrack playing as Godric appears? been looking for years and can't find it.
look up Nathan Barr he was the composer---i have a hard time finding the soundtracks too i love the music he created for this episode
With how flat out *awful* this show got around season 4, you forget how good it was early on
utter defeat
Bill got on my nerves towards the end
wow. That is a lot of bad acting from a lot of people all in the same scene.
Not Godric he great acting
The bad make-up ruins it...
A born again bull bull
Godric was such a disappointment
How
I wish wars could end with Godrick
