Even without the prophecy the whole pure blood thing would have led to her being hunted. And even then he was fine with killing everyone and following all the bullshit Voldemort ideology was as long as she was spared.
He was an evil man who just happened to side with good people for personnal interest because he was going to lose the woman he loved if he did not. He was fine with her husband and son dying if she lived and he could have her. He even asked Voldemort for it and only went to Dumbledore after his master had refused.
Evil isn't born, it is made, but it still is evil no matter how much trauma and awful stuff he endured led to it.
@@Way_Of_The_LightEveryone assumed Snap was evil at first until later when we see why he “turned evil” but it was all apart of there plan, he loved Lily who is Harry Potters mother, she was the only one nice to him in school, but she ended up with obviously someone else. But he always loved her and wanted to protect Harry, so even though it seems like he hates Harry at times it’s because he sees a bit of Harry’s father in him and Harry’s father bullied Snape in school, but Snape cared for Harry very much and asked Dumbledore to protect Harry.
I thought he was a grumpy old man. But now looking back he has so much depths to him, solid character but still grumpy. Lol

Snape is the representation of Selfless Love
He’s a representation of a mentally broken man still trying to do good but struggles along the way he redeems himself in the end, but while his intentions were always good, he definitely was not selfless in his actions. Sometimes he did what he did for his love of Lily, especially in the beginning, not for any care of harry you could argue all the way up to the end. It wasn’t for Harry. He did what he did for his love of Lily and he at times borderline harry because of his hate of James.

as a child, I didn't understand Severus, so I hated this character. as a 30 year old now, I see Severus' depth of pain and yearning for someone he can never have, but holds close to his heart till the time of his death, who is Lily.
