This last story about air ambulance is why I have separate coverage through life flight and 2 other plans for overlapping coverage. Even living in the metro area if I’m outside the 20 mile radius I’m susceptible to a life flight transport medical emergency and I have no say in the matter. The emergency responders make that call. That’s way I have 3 plans. What’s even worse if you travel abroad. A medical transport to get you back home to the USA can range from 150,000.00 dollars to well over 275,000.00 dollars. That’s why if you ever travel outside the USA you need supplemental medical and medical transportation insurance.

How in heavens name can the air ambulance justify charging 60,000 dollars for a one-way 200-mile flight? But despite that, the insurance company still had no right to deny insurance coverage. This same kind of price gouging is going on with Medicaid and Medicare, at least partially explaining why the funds are being depleted at such a rapid rate!
