    I called it 🔥 R5C is in a league of its own. True hybrid camera. No overheating, cinema menu, no ibis, takes incredible photos.
    What I would want to see in an R5C ii is clog 2, built in wifi/bluetooth in the cinema menu, stacked sensor with higher secondary base iso, better AF, better audio options, full size hdmi, new recording formats shown in the r5ii for compressed 4k raw instead of a full scale 8k raw.
    My unrealistic wishes would be built in ND and triple base ISO since it would crossover into c80/c400 territory and mess with the small form factor

    Hi Simon, while I share most of your analysis, I have a different reading what the RC will be .. I feel it will be a new body line rather than a single camera body !
    Canon cleaned up their naming when moving from the R & Rp to namings including a number, while the 'R5 C' remains a little clumsy where to add the mark ii in the name (R5ii C or R5 Cii ??) .. Certainly they will end up with multiple videocentric bodies, and naming the first one simply RC is asking for another dead end naming road ;-)
    Hence, expect over time RC5, RC6, RC8 for FF and RC7 and RC10 for APS-C.
    This RC may ditch the EVF and will be more video-focused. indeed competing with Sony FX and 7C lines.
    The R7 C was likely ditched because of the R7 rolling shutter, so the RC7 will share for sure the stacked R7ii sensor.

  • @MetaphysicalPolitics
    @MetaphysicalPolitics วันที่ผ่านมา

    I absolutely love my R5 C. I’ll be an early buyer of the Mark II. I only have one camera body and when I’m taking time lapse video of a Sunrise or Sunset, I often wish I had a second body so I could roam around taking pictures while recording video.
    I use the viewfinder so I don’t want that removed. cLog2 would be nice and I think the public angst against mini-HDMI has compelled a change to full sized HDMI. That patent for internal ND filters sure looked poised for an R5 C Mark II and that would be very welcome. WiFi too, sure.
    I really like the updates they added to the R5 Mark II, so I would expect an R5 C Mark II to get all those same auto focus and other improvements.
    If they manage to pull that off, I’ll definitely get an R5 C Mark II.
    These things are incredible.
    I don’t normally care about the churn of the rumor mill, but I’ll keep my eye on new/rreports/rumors associated with a potential R5 C Mark II. That would be the perfect camera body for me.

    • @OrdinaryFilmmaker
      @OrdinaryFilmmaker  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The C400 in June and the C80 as a follow up to the C70. I don't see the RC being aimed at the high-end as I stated I the video. The $1500-$2500 is the best price segment where canon is lacking.

    • @jpfarq
      @jpfarq วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@OrdinaryFilmmaker R7 and R8 are at that price point.
      But RF APS-C lens catalogue is just crap, even EF-M lenses were better. If Canon wants APS-C market back they need to replace the R100 with better video (and tactile screen) and the R7 with a faster sensor, a cinema camera.
      And, lenses, lenses, lenses.

      Cathy, the only one that interests me now is the R7 successor. A report on the 50 f1.4 VCM. I am loving this lens. Just love it. It's quiet, light weight, small and great for travel. And much cheaper than the f1.2. I'll have to wait for some night shooting to see how it does in low light.

      @@OrdinaryFilmmaker I forgot about the R7 II. I could use the reach, but I would hold off until there are many real world reviews. I know many people that love the R7, but I really didn't. If anyone has been using an R5C extensively and has just updated to the latest firmware… this camera almost there. All they need to do is enable WiFi and Bluetooth on the cinema side and this thing will be just about a perfect camera. A true hybrid.
    If a mark II were to come out I’d love to see a global shutter, audio via usbc, clog 2, WiFi/bt.
    There’s definitely value in a true hybrid camera.

    • @myidentitydisorder
      @myidentitydisorder วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ I totally agree. There’s definitely more room to advance this camera forward just a little more. Canon has always been a slow burn to get things updated and out to market but I feel with good reason.
      If you look back historically at the 5D cameras… in between the 5D3 and 5D4, we had the 5DS & 5DSR. I own and still use a 5DSR. They released that camera because they could and they snuck it in to body they already had similarly to the R5 and R5C. I feel that the 5DS and 5DSR were released because they nailed a higher resolution sensor great for stills but not quite yesterday for video. Those two cameras were a really great Segway to get canon to the R5 and later on the R5C. So, in short, if you ask me, the R5C is another camera release because they could. A test bed unit that functions and works really great for what it actually is. Clearly worked out better than they thought. I can tell you this they are definitely cooking up something that will blend what this camera has already done and use its weaknesses to deliver something truly incredible.

      It's only after getting the R5C II that I understand how powerful the R5C is. Canon log 2 and waveforms - what a huge difference to my workflow: easy to capture and get the exposure right, less balancing, less colour grading to bring back colours.
