The new Disney+ trailer is out for Home Sweet Home Alone. It looks terrible. Remaking a classic is almost never a good idea unless it's purely for making money. In this case, I can't imagine it's a win for anyone involved. This Home Alone reboot of sorts has no life to it. The trailer lacks energy and heart. The original two Home Alone films are so iconic. They are childhood classics. This new Home Alone movie just wreaks of making a quick buck. Just because Disney+ has all these Fox properties... doesn't mean they need to use them. Especially if this is the route they are going.

The Franchise doesn't even need a remake or a reboot, They should stay like they used to.
When you watch the original Home Alone, you feel a sense of warmth and comfort. Just based off the way this movie LOOKS, it's so cold and clinical--even the house looks like a boring sitcom set. The original's production design was so lively and just oozed a Christmas feel. Not to mention, how can you top Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern? You can't! These two "villains" feel so generic. And at least the sequels past the second one had the decency to leave John Williams' classic score alone.
Anyone that says this movie looks good/decent/fun is just lying to themselves or trying to get on Disney's nice list (press list).

I was going to get Disney plus. Then I saw this atrocious trailer. This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Literally Disney should be ashamed, they are despicable.
I don't know US copyright law, but I would not be surprised these reboot/remakes are about ensuring the films concepts are within some statute copyright limitation in perpetuity. Expect them every whatever years.

Now that Disney owns everything, Spider-Man: Home Alone is a crossover movie that actually has the potential of being made. Watch it be on the next season of "What If?"
The Home Alone franchise went downhill with the 3rd.
Hollywood's decline couldn't be more obvious. Like the only movies that do really great (till recently) were the comic superhero's 'saving another day in Gotham city'.... where story and character building has been thrown out the window; the Hero's Journey a distant afterthought and where it's CGI explosions that are carrying the movies that have changed into a strange soapserie with bi-polar actors.
Home Alone should have never become a Franchise.

Gotta go check this trailer out for myself now, and possibly even watch the movie out of morbid curiosity. Which, honestly is probably their chief marketing strategy.

This new movie is totally unrealistic. The kid would not even notice the robbers because he would spend most of his time playing fortnight without his parents supervision!

The only good part of the trailer was seeing Buzz as a cop, but even that's not enough to convince me to see this mess.

Implacable timing for the holidays! Now instead of a suicide note, I can just say I'll do a double feature of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City and Home Sweet Home Alone. Short of walking into a suicide booth, the intentions would be pretty clear already.

Exactly my thoughts, Adam. Disney is creatively bankrupt, and all they can do is piggyback off of pre-existing franchises.

You know when you have leftovers in your fridge?, It's wrapped in plastic wrap. You take it out the next day, but forget to eat it, but you also leave it on the counter top for some reason. It starts growing fuzz on top, but you can't smell anything. It's well wrapped, no odor.

I wouldn't have known about this unless you told me lol. I wasn't a fan of anything after Home Alone 2 and even that was a stretch for me. I've never even heard of 4 and 5. Even if I do watch this disaster and it's as bad as we expect, it won't ruin the original for me. Remakes do nothing to the original movie, bad sequels do.
4 and 5 were absolutely atrocious.
these remakes and prequels have been a cancer these last few years. I'm honestly surprised that no one has made a Godfather prequel that shows how Michael became a heavily decorated Captain in WW2
Wanna know how you can tell this is a real ass blaster? The main kid is named Max and the cast is full of a bunch of “I’ll do it if you pay me enough” actors (Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Timothy Simons, Ally Maki, Kenan Thompson, Pete Holmes, Chris Parnell, and Mikey Day. None of them are bad, but they don’t exactly have the highest standards), as well as a cameo from Buzz, because they need to show that this is “respectful to the original” while contradicting that idea throughout the rest of the trailer. Sadly, I’ll still watch it and who knows, it might even be good.
Edit: the director is the guy behind Dirty Grandpa, with the only respectable thing he’s been involved with being Borat, which is mostly improv and was co-written by Sacha Baron Cohen, so I officially retract any good will I had for this movie. We’re fucked.
Edit 2: the only way this would be any good is if they got Catherine O’Hara and Macauley Culkin (sorry if I misspelled his name) to play the robbers, without even mentioning the McCallisters. Then again, Catherine O’Hara can basically do no wrong and elevates everything she touches.

There are actually 5 Home Alone movies so far. Home Sweet Home Alone will be the sixth. There is interest in another Home Alone movie. Fans of the original two movies are not the target market for Home Sweet Home Alone. This us for a new generation.
If I was the director I would have Willem Dafoe and Mayra Leal as the Villains ! They could be an evil pair. I would also have the traditional American kid and lots of deadly traps 💀

I’m gonna be the odd man out here, but I honestly am cautiously optimistic about this one because of the writers, Streeter Seidell and Mikey Day, I really like both of them. Plus I had no idea Pete Holmes was going to be in it, so I was pleasantly surprised by that. Idk I’m hopeful, but home alone also isn’t one of my family’s personal christmas classics so maybe that helps too. Either way, thought this was hysterical. Thanks for the rant!
