The silence and the slow door creak after Jon says “See ya” in the first clip kills me every single time I watch it
Did he actually leave that one? I hope so
@@MrBlipman yep
@@aethermoroll Gordon Ramsey said right in front of Jon Taffer. Just relax!!!!. Relax!!!!. Relax!!!!. Just stop ✋!!!!. Stop ✋!!!!.
@@MrBlipman im not entirely sure. Because I’ve seen clips of the stress test with that same bar and I didn’t see the manager (girl who started the fight) there.
@@American1Pride he came back but left the next day after another clip showed the owner offering to pay an employee to hit another one.
At the last clip, the owner and employees f'd around and found out.
I just wonder why call jon a lair they know he has the place under survalience he has al lthe vids from the last few days before he arrived what gull do they have at hidaway to say he is a liar when its all on tape. I get why they wont turn on the owner you dont rat out your co workers or managers I get that.
@sora6748 Here's the way I look at it. Their business is failing. They called in jon taffer to help them out so their bar doesn't close down. If I were in that owner's position, I wouldn't be messing around at all. Would let Jon taffer get to the root of the problem so I can quickly turn my failing business into a successful business. The first step to recovery is admitting you've got a problem. That owner's biggest problem was getting drunk on the job. Instead of letting Jon taffer help him with his problem, he kept trying to hide his problem. And even worse, the other employees were trying to help the owner hide his problem. If those employees think that enabling the owner to continue to get drunk on the job is more important than focusing on the success of their business, then they deserve to fail. Jon taffer gave that man an ultimatum, be a drunk failure or be a successful bar owner. That owner chose to be a failure by trying to hide his problem with drinking on the job and that's why Jon taffer walked out.
@@kivasterling3842Jon Taffer said right in front of his experts and his crew and Gordon Ramsey. Turn this bar around so we can make money!.
@@sora6748it's not turning on the owner. It's holding them accountable. You can't fix a problem you openly ignore. And that's all they're doing is ignoring the owner's visible drinking issue.
You’re cringe
When Jon gives them choices we know he's not messing with
I’m glad he walked out of the last one. The bartenders didn’t have the balls to admit the truth. So now they’re out of a job and the bar is out of business.
When the clip finished I saw this comment it was hilarious I said stupid b1tch why tf did they lie and let that Jon walk out 😂
I’m so confused how they wanna help him but don’t realize that drinking like that is basically an early grave I knew a uncle of mine who drank constantly and he was a great man but unfortunately ptsd from serving in the navy during the Vietnam war cost him his life and he had to wear diapers and was constantly drinking; not only are they enabling him they’re compliant in his health especially if he drives drunk and kill’s someone you need to think about long term but they probably only care for themselves and how much money or tips they get away with
The fact they were accepting of it in the end without even trying to admit their faults just goes to show they deserved to have their bar close.
@@SouthJerseySam Plus the fact that they didn't want to "speak reality" to Jon, and that one of them said "It's not my place" to rat out the owner, even when Jon and his crew are there to save her livelihood.
The ass-backwards logic is certainly ass-backwards.
@@amethyphoenix I KNOW! It's ridiculous how they just blow off the whole thing, even as Jon gives them an ultimatum. I wouldn't mind if it was just the owner being this obstinant but the fact that EVERYONE was not willing to say or do anything to solve the real issues only dug their own graves.
It always amazes me how people call Jon, begging for his help, then when he arrives they argue with him and don’t take his advice. Why do you call the expert if you won’t take the advice that will SAVE. YOUR. BUSINESS!?!?
A lot of the time it is a relative, employee, or friend of the owner who makes the calls. But with the O'Face situation that was a whole different ball game.
@@starjokerx574Jon Taffer said. Run this bar the proper way!.
Because Jon tells these people hard truths. They want to hear that it's someone else's fault, not theirs.
@@lorieurschel7438 Jon Taffer said right in front of his experts and his crew and Gordon Ramsay. You guys need to run this bar the proper way so we can make money!.
And if it's not some arrogant fathead who thinks they know better, it'll be that they call for help too little too late. Those are the sadder ones that wind up closing.
Second Base's failure truly was on Terry rather than that manager.
When Jon makes an ultimatum for an owner to chose, y’all better go with what he tells y’all
Hideaway was crazy because dude basically backpedaled from doing the breathalyzer. I can get the workers not wanting to say anything but still
Why his employees were so loyal to him and refused to admit the truth about him is beyond me!
@@DreFromMaine8472 don't bite the hand that feeds you
@@lilpenguin092 they literally just bit Jon's hand and that's why he walked out, dafuq do you mean?
They just didn't want to say it to the Town Drunk's face, they had absolutely no trouble saying it when he wasn't there!!!
@@WarGrowlmon18 i for sure would say it right it his drunk face without hesitiating
Why do employees stick up for and lie for these bad owners
Fear of losing their jobs after Jon leaves
They could have been sleeping with each other
Or family members that wanna protect each other.
In the case of O-Face, Cerissa (the girl who got assaulted) and Syk (the security guard) were quite literally the ONLY decent people in that entire bar.
Either fear or Stockholm syndrome
I am an alcoholic and the last one was painful to watch. Those women defending him aren't helping him they are enabling him. Turning a blind eye to it is killing him. People making the reviews wouldn't lie about that.
I had an uncle who was from the Vietnam war, and from his trauma he drank and was a good man but couldn’t get over what happened, he passed away and was in diapers for a later part of his life, I miss him dearly and it hurts how they can allow that man to live with himself especially when he could kill someone as being drunk behind the wheel causes more damage and harm to the other people on the road, but they don’t care or only want an easy job and are able to take money from him without him knowing as the “town drunk” he couldn’t tell his feet from his head
The sad thing with Second Base was if it weren't for Terry then the bar would've been a success and didn't need the second rescue.
"Do they have ________ ?"
"Yep"
"Do you?"
"Nope"
"But you did, didn't ya?!"
Fill in the blank with Jon Taffer!
If I had to rank the worst bar owners in the shows history this is what I’ve got
1. Matt O’Face
2. Terry Second Base
3. Ed The Dugout
Ed Owns the Dugout, not the Bullpen bar
Matt overmyer is also a sex offender.
Matt overmyer is a sex offender.
Matt's the worst by far because he's violent.
@@patrickbagley9058 Not only that, he's a registered sex offender. I'm glad Syck and Cerissa left that poisonous death bar.
This whole Hideaway episode was a total waste of Taffer’s time. It’s no wonder that they shut down after Taffer left. Just goes to prove that you can’t help someone who can’t help themselves.
clearly it was
The fact that the employees were sticking up for the owners just goes to show how little care they have. I honestly have no sympathy for anyone that worked there.
@@SouthJerseySam oface atleast had decent people even though it was only 2 people that can be tolerated hideaway i bet had none
@@sportsfan09yt I was referring to Hideaway, they were all crap employees. O-Face most definitely had two decent employees between Cerissa and Syck.
@@SouthJerseySam thats more positives on that bar than the hideaway there even though that oface bar was still trash
I've literally NEVER SEEN the episode where Jon pulls all of the employees!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Between O-Face and Hideaway, they deserve to lose their business for lacking proper business ethics and control.
The former just wanted a personal playground. Nothing more.
@@NerdyHippyhideaway had no one decent working for that bar compared to oface all of them are intolerable especially the owner
@@sportsfan09yt The only good one out of O Face was Syck, and Matt fired him, because Syck was the only one with a brain among them.
@@NerdyHippy and cerrissa the one who got assulted by that manager
@@NerdyHippy i am pretty sure the hideaway did not have a single good person in the staff if there even was one compared to oface atleast
When he hit the lamp & the dust 😂😂
Not surprised that the first bar was the 5th bar Jon walked out on. They didn't deserve the rescue just like O Face and neither did Terry the owner of Second Base
or black light district
As far as Hideaway is concerned, I wonder if Jon was even interested in rescuing this bar to begin with. I’ll just bet he wanted to Shame it instead. In fact, I’ll bet the owner, even today is still a drunkard.
I went to Google Maps and it says that the Hideaway bar is permanently closed, and they truly deserve to go out of business, and now it's some Indian restaurant
@@ericavila-0252 they did it to themselves
He was, but if there is one thing that he will not tolerate is being disrespected. The bartenders lied about their owner not being the town drunk and then say that Jon was a liar. He made sure he had those receipts and looked them all in the face to prove his point and then left.
when i watch the ending of the hideaway bar the owner just acts like it's no big deal he found out the hard way that john doesn't bluff when he says he'll walk out
He was you have to get to the root of the problem which in most of the cases is the owner. If you were in his shoes would you want to pour $100k+ of your money to fix a problem when you have an owner who is just going to drink it away second base is the perfect example he turned it around made it successful but a bad owner let it go to hell because he was greedy and didn't care
John Taffer: "You chose poorly..."
....and walks out.
What a shame.
Jon has his naysayers but the dude is as legit as they come.
Accept John's help or go down in the dumps
How many opportunities did he give them, like 6,8? I understand loyalty, yet when someone obviously has a problem, you are not helping them by minimalising their problems.
I am always in awe at the size of Jon Taffer's girthy meat shovel. This was no different. Wow, what a man.
This is when the show is at its best. When Taffer is pushed to his very limit.
Probably the saddest part about the O Face situation was Cerissa(the victim) was fired, not the manager who beat up on her.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before” “this is the most disgusting kitchen I’ve ever seen”
2 phrases your guaranteed to hear every episode
Bar Rescue's Top 5 Failed/Worst Rescues of All Time:
5. The Dugout (Chicago, Illinois)
4. Second Base Bar & Grill (Orange, California)
3. Hideaway Bar & Grill (Meridian, Idaho)
2. Blacklight District Lounge (Long Beach, California)
1. O Face Bar (Council Bluffs, Iowa)
i wish that jon walkout of dugout instead of remodeling it
I like how he exposes that some bosses are like that aggressive and disrespectful
God bless you Jon Taffer
Jon Taffer knows what he is doing. Either follow him and succeed or resist and fail. I will choose to listen to Jon Taffer
Note that while Jon DID return to O Face because they fired Amanda, he later left again and for good because of just how disgusting those people were. The only decent people at that ENTIRE BAR were Cerissa, the girl who got assaulted, and Syk, the security guard. According to the title card at the end of that episode, once Jon was gone, those freaks fired Cerissa and rehired Amanda.
They also fired Syk
@@chanceveiga4481 Yeah, like I said everyone but him and Cerissa were horrible people.

john is def so funny off the show too
After all, as a working man I can say that people in general are and act very differently while on the job and on free time, especially if they're in something like customer service business. Whether you're normally kinda grumpy (or in Jon's case nice guy when not on camera) or naturally nice or anything in between, you have to put your best and most accommodating face and personality on since customer is the king.
When the finger wags, things are *serious*
This video should have been longer cause Jon throw down the gauntlet a lot more than these.
0:42 Karen with a Bell because she wants a drink.... She really is a Karen... 😂😂😂
The guy at the beginning of the video looked like he was laughing at jon when he was yelling at him
Bar Down the Dwayne!
Man, Jon is just amazing for real XD
Jon Taffer said right in front of his experts and his crew and Gordon Ramsey. Get that freaking bar cleaned up!!!!.
I don't even think Jon came to the Hideaway to rescue it, I think he just wanted to humiliate the crew. At least he gave O'face a chance, even if it did went south.
they did it to themselves though
I can't believe the guy who screwed over his own daughters after Jon left and run the bar into the ground again.
Shame on Brad and shame on the employees of the Hideaway openly lying is ignorant.
"if i can figure out how to work this thing" *holding a notepad and a pen*
In that last clip, they are definitely enabling his drinking. Since one of the bartenders called him the town drunk to his team, why be afraid to say it after he showed them footage of her saying it? But Jon is the liar? Lol.
28:25 I thought it was 4 times.
O Face
Second Base
Black Light District
The Dugout
Second base had two rescues he helped them with the first and walked out the second time because the owner would not chip in money for renovations
He redid the Dugout but walked out of the grand opening after the owner showed up drunk O face and Black Light are the only ones he walked out of without renovations
Yeah I think O'face and Black District Light are the 2 walkouts he is talking about.
He is not counting the other 2 because Jon had already renovated those bars
Congrats to hideaway for completing the tally
@@joshuaseba3077hideaway had no decent staff either compared to oface who at least had decent people that I can tolerate
once the drink goes down we refill it
Hideaway went to the corner of f*** around and find out and they missed the bus and now pleased to say they are out of business
I hate in the first one Jon came and started yelling at the wife because of the fighting and the husband started being a little bitch and crying because “don’t yell at my wife”🥺😭
Those people were SICK!!! Only the girl who got beaten up and the security guard were decent people. Jon refused to rescue them in the end and suggested that they all seek professional help.
@@WarGrowlmon18 the hdieaway had no decent people
Crazy how passive some people are about their futures
Jon has such epic insults !!
Oh god the O Face bar!!!🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
It's kind of sad that he's owned this bar for 20 years and can't make drinks, can't operate the register, and the only thing he seems to know how to do is drink!!! Yeah, we'll see what happens!!
27:50 😡😡😡😡
Man this part gets me angry every time.
When the bartender says it's not my place. To me she's just enabling the man's further decline financially in health wise. I've seen what alcoholism do to people and she and the rest of the staff are a bunch of idiots. If I was there I would like yes he has a severe alcohol problem because when someone that you know and love is dealing with benediction for in this case alcohol you help them not let them drown
Brad the owner is the worst type of owner! He’s never earned anything he has… it really shows when he’s to work for it
Drunks don't make good bar owners ... peroid!!
I feel so bad for all of Jon's poor recon specialists with what they had to deal with!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
12:04 another Jon Slaper rap moment
1. Matt was the worst owner and Karen was the laziest owner.
2. Terry went back to his old habits after Jon left.
3. Brad was so clueless.
4. The staff and the owners kept lying to Jon. However Jon walkout on 4 bars. Now 5 bars.
the town drunk and his staff are a team of liars
last one is the best
What episode/season is the last clip from ?
Love this that me all day wow
We finally meet the best owner in a clip again the town drunk
People dont understand when people say prove me wrong. They want you to because then it shows change and you becoming better
I waited for the hideaways walk out to be uploaded here
John said he walked out 2 times. Granted, I don't know the order of this episode, but from my count, there were 5 total. (Technically, 4 1/2 since one he remodeled then walked away.)
He walked away from the newly renovated Dugout and left Black Light District because the owner didn't want him there.
I think he is only counting O'face and Black Light District as the 2 walkouts because those were the only 2 he didn't renovate. Well now he has walked out of 3
O'Face - Walked
Second Base - Walked
Black Light - Asked to leave before he could walk
Dugout - Remodeled then walked away
Hideaway - Walked
Yeah 4 1/2 sounds right.
"where we come from, we don't turn our back on people"
She says as she let's the only guy that could help the owner walk away. I don't think she understands how that works.
well you could have a chance if you did atleast admit to some of it
@@sportsfan09yt exactly, a small truth would eventually lead the the entire truth.
But people have too much worthless pride to think rationally and end up screwing themselves over petty stuff.

The first story, WTF did they think Jon was gonna do?
Jon"Oh, cool! So you kept this manager who beat up the shot girl"
I never saw the whole episode but I know he works with them, so do they end up firing her to get Jon back or what?
The last story- way to go Jon for calling out their lies and walking out!
the worst bars ever
People say hes mean and horrible but hes not, i can see sometimes he really cares, he yells at them call them a loser etc in beginning for a reason, he needs to know if tjere ready to change, there usally in denial about themselves / Situation, if hes yelling at them that theyve failed etc and they break down and get uoset or start crying he immediately stops yelling and talks to them normal agyer thathe doesnt need to say there a failure etc anymore because now they have accepted and admitted to themselves and people around them there a problem and things need to change now. Then he can build them back up with confidence and as a owner again. Like what army does, breaks you, then rebuilds you hiw they want, for yku to be a better soldier and blindly follow orders. But his outcomes a but happier mostly. I seen one where syarted crying got so upset and was finally completely honest to himself and to his wife about how much he was actually in debt which i think was 1 Million, wife was shocked then angry but didnt yelk then she wen to kinda upset and then put an arm around him and said why didnt you tell me , i woukd have helped and supported you, like now im going to stick by you and were going to work it out ok.
John looked like he was going to cry, the mans wife actually took marriage serious the for better or worse, when ahe said thus to her husband you can see him go from lookin mg completely deflated to standing back up right and getting a smile and immediately having a lostive attitude about future niw that hes come oit with everything, that little bit if support from his wife at that moment meant everything to him. John really wanted to help these 2 owners, i think this one was very personal him. He was extremely moved by what happened in front of him.
Jon gives you a chance to do things right, and you don't, its time to go!
Can confirm most Iowa bars operate just like O face. Trashy.
they don't have money to clean their bars , but they have big car
I’d say these failing owners are like Icarus flying too close to the sun; but I can’t. Their egos, arrogance, delusions and irresponsibility are on par with Icarus flying INTO the Sun (total 180 & playing chicken with it); making their downfalls all too deserving.
To be honest, this video is satisfying to all viewers who watch these bars that fail without Jon's help. Similiar to what happened if anyone don't need help with my homework.
Jon, i want to work for you coming in to teach 5S, LEAN practice and process workflow improvement. I have over a decade of experience in quality management and continuous improvement.
He says he walked out twice O Face and 2nd Base. He also walked out on Blacklight District and The Dugout. So really it's 4 times he walked out.

A lot of wasted time and invested
Amanda must be fired without pay for ever
After Jon permanently walked out on those losers, they fired Cerissa (I can't remember how that's spelled) and rehired Amanda. Those people were so disgusting that it was Jon's first ever refusal to rescue a bar in 30 years. Only Cerissa and Syk the security guard were decent people.
