Kelly Sue butchered Wonder Woman? I can't say I'm shocked. She butchered Aquaman after the wonderful Dan Abnett run and contributed to getting that comic cancelled. Keep in mind, right after his movie which made a billion, Aquaman still couldn't get a good comic. Man, it makes me almost wish I could get into comics. Because I'd at least do my research and not act like narcissist/ egoist whenever folks criticize my work. Also, Aquaman is my second favorite superhero so I'd want to do him justice the best I can.

Doc hit the nail on the head when he discussed the rendering. Phil just learned how to draw digitally his illustration is still great, however his understanding of digital rendering tools is the same level as a novice. This makes his art incredibly muddy he should have either learned more refined rendering skills, or left the rendering aspect to the colorist who is absolutely drowning under the muddy rendering.
The Adversary was created by Chris Claremont and John Romita Jr., and his true form was first drawn by Marc Silvestri. He's appeared later in X-Factor and the Black Panther.
I actually like what I see of the WW pencils/inks, but the colors are a visual assault. With such busy line work, the colorist should have used a much more limited palette on non-primary figures. I have a copy on the way, so I will judge the story later. But based on what I have heard, I am not expecting much.
Get a copy of "Phoenix: The Untold Story" and Vol 1 and 2 of the Fantagraphics "The X-Men Compendium" from the early 80s. they clearly lay out the entirety of "Phoenix" as a concept from the very people who created and developed the canon. Pay specific attention to the Claremont interviews where he said (paraphrased) There's one way to do that story. We did it."

KELLY SUE KILLED AQUAMAN RUN .. Aquaman rebirth run was so good including the DROWNED event but after that this pest KSD took over and AQUAMAN's sales declined so much that the run got cancelled. KSD has been riding off the success of B***h Planet. I remember that after KSD *ruined* Carol Danvers by making her go from Ms. Marvel to Captain Marvel, (along with Kelly Thompson, after KSD). So we knew after that it was a mistake to give Aquaman over to her. We all thought why, we have seen how she ruined Carol Danvers, why would DC give her Aquaman, which was embarrassingly canceled. People have made memes and jokes about her infamously saying, "don't like my politics, don't buy my book", which, should of been enough of a red flag. I remember or think some of the excuses was "Captain Marvel made a billion world wide". Or "give her a chance", even though she had multiple chances at writing for other things. What was the excuses for KSD, after Aquaman got canceled after a long run? I can only hope that more indies gain more traction like Kamen America. We need alternatives that will grow into the replacement mainstream. But instead those IPs will be controlled by their creators rather than Corpos.

Greg Rucka run from mid 2000's. Gail Simone's run following that run. Actually all of that period has some good stuff. Brian Azarello's New 52 run is different but it's exciting and very interesting with it's take on Greek mythology
I read indie comics right now iconic comics is my favorite right now with Kamen America and black hops, great stories, great art, great American values and female characters that look like women. if you order each volume through preoder (crowd funding) you get a 100page hardcover volume for $10-15. Comics are great right now just not the mainstream ones
On the art: I agree it's well overdone and I say that as a Silvestri/EVS fan. But that said, I think a lot of it is because there's no continuity to the art. With the mashup of mythologies represented, anyone familiar with any of them gets thrown by the mix and those who do not just see 'many things.' If they'd have picked "Greek" and stuck to Greek inspired/related imagery instead of what looks like a bad Druidic/Witcher meets Mayan-Aztec seen through the lens of (insert various mythologies here) (and here) (and here...) then MAYBE it would have made visual sense despite the hyper rendering.
They don't trade earrings in Hispanic culture lol but most Hispanics are actually Native American. Puerto Ricans Cubans Dominicans are Taino Native Americans. Right now Wonder Woman has returned back from the dead after dying in Dark Knight Metal story. Dianah Prince is trying to readjust to coming back life and now she faces a new enemy who's the original inhabitants of Paradise Island. Wonder Girl is really good too. Yara Flor is a new hero from a new and third Amazon tribe in Brazil named the Esquecida. So now you have the Themyscirans, Bana - Mighdall and now the Esquecida Amazon's are all about to go to war in this story arc of today. There is something about Yara Flor that is making all the Amazon tribes fight over her. So I hope you guys check these two books out. It's way better than what Kelly Sue DeConnick is offering on Wonder Woman. ✌.

It's better that they're not twins because Nubia was only known as "Wonder Woman's black twin sister" and nothing else. And the twin origin story was mad racist. And in the retcon, Nubia doesn't become Wonder Woman before Diana. Nubia becomes the guardian of Dooms Doorway then she becomes Queen of the Amazons. Diana and Nubia still have a solid relationship. Back then, Nubia was just in the shadow of Diana. And Nubia has been here for decades, and she was barely put into any story until recently.

The art is busy, i agree that individually there are good pieces but the composition it's garbage. However i would not have a problem with it if it wasn't for the coloring it's like someone puked a rainbow and makes it hard to focuss on anything.
So WW fam who's used the least by DC in the trinity (while it's the opposite for Batman, too many titles), they hire 2 terribad writers for WW fam, Vita Ayala and KSD. I don't even read comics to know that they're infamous and like the kiss of death. They know how to ruin characters yet the big 2 keeps hiring them, it makes no sense, why? I'm sorry to say this but they suck.
Again, sounds like horrible or no Editor on these stories. That person should have called out the inaccuracies in the mythology. Of course KSD may have said, that's the point, this is MY mythology so deal with it. Oh and as for the Echo crap, more bi-sexual women showing up because 100% of the comic population seems to fall into that category now.
Each individual panel in the WW comic might look great but the overall effect is "hawaiian shirt" or "psychedelic wrapping paper". As for Kelly-Sue butchering Greek mythology, I am disappointed but not surprised. I don't think I've ever come across a US adaptation of that subject matter that doesn't horribly butcher it. That said, I think the most obvious story to adapt into a misandrist screed would be the story of Pandora, the first human woman, who was literally created by the gods to trick/punish the humans for having been given fire by Prometheus. The feminist interpretation writes itself I would think.

The art is busy, i agree that individually there are good pieces but the composition it's garbage.
However i would not have a problem with it if it wasn't for the coloring it's like someone puked a rainbow and makes it hard to focuss on anything.
I wouldn't have near an issue with the art if there were a couple show pieces like this. But it's over 20 straight pages of overrendered art.
So WW fam who's used the least by DC in the trinity (while it's the opposite for Batman, too many titles), they hire 2 terribad writers for WW fam, Vita Ayala and KSD. I don't even read comics to know that they're infamous and like the kiss of death. They know how to ruin characters yet the big 2 keeps hiring them, it makes no sense, why? I'm sorry to say this but they suck.

Again, sounds like horrible or no Editor on these stories. That person should have called out the inaccuracies in the mythology. Of course KSD may have said, that's the point, this is MY mythology so deal with it. Oh and as for the Echo crap, more bi-sexual women showing up because 100% of the comic population seems to fall into that category now.
You need to be partially blind to compensate those millions of colors on that beautiful art.
Each individual panel in the WW comic might look great but the overall effect is "hawaiian shirt" or "psychedelic wrapping paper".
As for Kelly-Sue butchering Greek mythology, I am disappointed but not surprised. I don't think I've ever come across a US adaptation of that subject matter that doesn't horribly butcher it. That said, I think the most obvious story to adapt into a misandrist screed would be the story of Pandora, the first human woman, who was literally created by the gods to trick/punish the humans for having been given fire by Prometheus. The feminist interpretation writes itself I would think.
I enjoyed it, if no one else did that’s okay, you like what you like.
